Best 1h sword for cavalry

What do you think is the best 1h sword to use with a shield as cavalry in terms of power, speed and reach? WHich weapon do you guys use? Plaese help me ;-)

Initially, I used Italian Sword, but after heirloom theft, and long pondering, I switched to Knightly Arming sword. Balanced in terms of damage, long and fast enough.

Second Gen I was 1h/pole cavalry and I killed shitloads of archers with the nordic champions sword, really nice reach on the horse, sometimes I even did a forward thrust at spearmen standing infront of my horse and headshot them, after my horse got stopped.

I was gonna make a polarm / 1 h char for cav.  How much do I need to invest into 1h wpf?

I'm assuming most would go into polearm and 70-100 in 1h?

This is relevant to my interests. I'm currently have about 130 wpf in polearms, and just realized that I now have extra points. I had 3 wasted on ironflesh, and put two in 1h WPF. Next generation I might do what Ghazan suggested, however I'd hate to see my polearm/lancing ability suffer.

It really depends on what u want to wear and use.

If u can afford to use the "best" (expensive) swords then pick one that is long. Best swords only have +1-3 damage and maybe +3-5 range and +1 speed when comparing to medium priced swords. That really isn't much.
I use scimitar. I don't use elite scimitar because it doesn't give any boost really and it costs a lot more to repair.
Just check the medium priced swords u might want to use, they are just as good, but don't drain ur gold so fast so u can afford to buy armor or a better horse instead.

Compare: Nordic sword gets +1-2 damage, +2 range, speed -2!, + some weight for stun effect. 3k more gold.
Is it really worth it? I don't think so. Best weapons are insanely more expensive and offer nothing in return. Personal fighting skills are more valuable than weapons.

I currently use the Sarranid Cav Sword.  And can tell you it works pretty damn well.  Still dont get a 1 hit kill everytime with PS 5 on upper mail armored targets.  But anything lower or damaged you will destroy.

I however have been thinking of switching to Italian Sword.  2 main reasons, less upkeep and im going for more the crusader look, not so much mixed look.

Only thing stopping me is the 98 length on Italian sword.  Not sure how much of a difference this will really make, cause as sword cav, you almost need to graze your target to hit anyways...

Anyone have experience using sword cav with a weapon length less that 100?

They removed the horse size from the status on the site, but with a cataphract you'd have no problem with a 80 reach weapon, steppe, sarranid and desert horses are shorter, hence they can be used  more reliably with shorter weapons.

Best 1h for cavalry?

1) Sarranid Cavalry Sword (great 105 rng, slow 95 spd)
2) Knightly Arming Sword / Nordic Champion Sword (good 102 rng, mediocre 97 spd) and Long Arming Sword (102 rng/ 98 spd)
3) Elite scimitar or Sarranid Guard Sword  (average 100 range, good 99 spd)

As a 1h cav, I'd recommend going for 100+ range swords. On foot i prefer fast weapons, so i go for 3). But pure cavs should try the Sarranid Cav Sword, it's fantastic. You can slash in front of your horse with that thing.

I use sarranid cavalry sword. With 7PS, most hits are kills unless they're pretty well armoured and have high IF. Like Phaz said, it's a bit slow when used on foot, but the range is again king.
Most people underestimate it's lengt, especially 1h/shielders. They come running up to you with an attack chambered and take a side swing before they even realized they got in range.

When I use my side sword from horseback, it's a bit harder to hit, but since it's balanced (35 cut) and fast as hell, I can dish out some mean damage when I hit people.
