This is not much to ask, but for people like me who love roleplaying, and not minmaxing kuyak my old friendplaying, it will mean a lot if we have a decent 0 slot 0 shield skill shield.
The old round shield looks like it was made out of garbage by an autistic monkey .

by keeping your shield skill at 0 you are min maxing, you just lack the nuts to put on a kuyak and war mask. If you cared about roleplaying you would drop your stats to get shield skill and look fly as hell.

Revert strat back to strat 4 with the obviously needed tweaks that strat 5 got right and leave everything else behind (especially crime.)
So at first, most siege maps are made so the enemy has to take like 2-3 parts and ends up at fighting at the flag. With ladders it will be just like take a ladder, fuck the map and go attack the flag. Would be extremely simple and not really amusing.
If u add catapults and siege towers, there will be trolls. SHITTONS OF TROLLS. They won't be just not contributing to the team effort, they will do their best to fuck up everything. There are some maps where u need some walls n'stuff. If they are shot down, the round would be simply over. And all those ones who build and shoot with catapults for example are not fighting, and we have anyways way too less players!
Longer rounds would probably destroy the balance for most maps, because they are made for a speciffic time and changing them would give the attacker and immense advantage!
BUT: If u make new maps for it, it would be okay, but allways remember to make them for the dumbest expectable player! I promise u everything will be abused.
And actually siege has only one problem, it's the missing population.. If we had like 40 vs 40 every evening everything would be fine :cry: :cry:
Gotta think about things that could be added! I will probably write something tomorrow!
We'll also be having more active admins around to take care of the trolls.

I'm glad another patch is on the way but i have a suggestion for next Strategus, i am not sure but making all items +3 by default will make it a lot easier for people to play who doesn't want to spend their time with micro management. Less unnecessary effort for faction leaders who is planning to play, better chance being useful in Strategus for those who isn't in faction or not in a big one.

I honestly don't care if updates help or hurt the game at this point, just glad someone is still putting in their time and effort to make it the best they can, thank you Dupre! I'm assuming this is all possible since Melee is getting a separate website, so chadz is loosening his noose on c-rpg.net (item pics will finally get added, strat reset, etc).
Any chance of addressing the HTML vulnerabilities that were pointed out that allowed people to sit one one place on strat and buy and sell goods from any fief they wanted without having to move?
For the love of all things holy, please get rid of banner balance (or at least minimize it's effect). Having balanced teams is more important than pub stomping a server. I prefer being on the losing team and trying to help us achieve victory, you can set a flag on me to always be switched to the losing team if you want me to lead by example. :P
I thought people realized how lame (and detrimental to server populations) pub stomps were back in the early 2000 counter-strike days. Besides it's fun hearing your clanmates bitch in teamspeak when you devastate them. :twisted:

I actually thought the AI fiefs worked relatively well this time around, cos people who signed for AI got a small silver reward and cos gear costs went up stupidly high for this round people really needed the boost (also when you spawn with 100 silver and goods cost 15 apiece, a 1000 silver boost is nothing to be sniffed at in the early-game)

I think you mean almost every weapon now. Something's wrong with the servers causing some pretty bad desync, leading to bullshit like what you said. I know I'm not the only one feeling it

Ranged counters ranged on maps with lots of places to hide behind, like trees and walls with no objective besides "KILL KILL KILL". If it was an open field map with objectives, ranged is a support class who are less important than infantry. But ain't nobody got time for open field maps, everyone wants counter-strike maps to pew pew and hide behind a wall. So the more ranged you have, the more people want to spec or switch to a ranged alt to counter them (or log off).

The real problem with ranged is that at this moment there is no other class that can counter it, when a courser dies with 1.5 arrows and a charger with 4, cavalry is pretty much useless and tries to avoid attacking ranged.direct buf for cav should help a lot
And whats even worse, is that the ranged on your team is focusing other targets rather than enemy ranged, unless is pretty much necessary to attack each other.

better idea would be a ranged balance,cause i see in 70% of all matches im in,like all ranged on one team and inf on the other team,or like 1 ranged in team blue and 5 in team red for example.I don't really have much trouble with ranged, even on my chars w/o a shield, bunch of ranged is really no different than a buncha melees zerging. Its the cav that's the problem- 1 or 2 are easy to counter/kill but the cav train isn't. And I see way more of all/most cav being on 1 team. And people riding plated chargers in low pop servers, at least ranged has to lead targets or get lucky to hit, chargers just plow over you w/o much able to stop it but 15 million hits unless you can do a rider kill.

I usually aim for archers, cav and last infantry, but everyone has his own choice.
Balancing classes with rounds is a really good idea, but I saw that a team of archers is easily stomped by a horde of good melee players with an edge of cavalry.
If cavalry is buffed and there are no archers around that's gonna be a pain, you cant protect 360 degrees of your body with a pike, and theres not enough pikers to cover, they simply get evaded by cav
Why the hell do people want to buff cavalry against archers. One of the major benefits of archers in medieval times was arrows being a massive "fuck you" to horses.its mostly because 99% of ranged kite all the time and so cavalry can prevent them from delaying rounds for infinite amount of time.
An easier solution would be to save a point or two to carry a shitty shield on your back you can use while closing with archers. If you're going to spec 100 % into your heavy weapon melee build you need to accept the vulnerability you're putting yourself at with arrows.

Later I indeed took an arbalest and steel bolts and kept shooting in their general direction with 1wpf. Kinda worked, I just don't want to fight ranged with ranged, it's not how it's supposed to be done. Fin changed map to pub brawl later which worked too. Map part is true, however a direct fist into their asses wouldn't be a bad idea imho.

Btw, one of the biggest problems for a large ammount of players is the ping problem. I see a lot of them complaining about their ping higher than usual on forums and ingame aswell. I also have got this problem - since October my ping is 88-100, while it used to be 64 for the previous three years. Not sure if you can fix it, but it sucks greatly :cry:

Bring back the thing which displayed the damage done after a landed hit.
If you cant bring it back for servers like NA_1 and NA_2 (rip) at least put it in Duel, cuz that's really the main reason I go to duel is to test out possible buildsthat 'thing' was bugged :) and if u wanna test builds and damage got solution for u. Ask your friend to respect for a most classic build 24/21 Full IF 8 go on duel server,put armor set-Head 40,Body 60 or something like that and just u will see how much damage u can apply, its very easy because hp bar is in squares 10/10 full hp every swing(fast swing on body/head/legs/arms, hold swing,spin+hold swing) or ranged shot can be measured very precisely not like that bugged 'thing'

native has players because its actually a medieval game , and when you go there people are using realistic gear, and mostly they come to play the game, unlike crpg which doesnt feel very medieval , where rock throwers in pajamas run around and enjoy running from people rather than fighting them ( ie trolling the player base rather than playing with the playerbase )If you're implying rock throwers don't offer anything to a team you are an idiot. I think that adding an xp share of some sort where I can play on my lvl 37 and get some xp on an alt of your choice. Just so you can't constantly change who gets the shared xp you make it similar to the free respecs and strat hero transfers where there is a wait period.
I believe that poophammer had mentioned this before and I would be on board.
You should be content by just the fact you are lvl 37. An almost impossible feat a year+ ago.we should stay with 0 tolerance for high lvl politic

We'll get weekly Server Resets you asked for months! They are trying to fix these lags Problem!

If anything, I'd rather prefer the level system go back to the former one, except with reduced gaps between the levels, but still so that the max level stays at 34-35.but it will F**** up whole balance :? i just dont get some ppl whining on clan stacks in past, now there are no huge banner stacks and what? they are still fucking sucks balls, i don't think that 'teleporting' through player can be just fixed with lowering levels to 35 or maybe im wrong, imo better is reseting server every Sunday and we will see that it's fault of lags or just seriously levels.
IMO, there's an "Optimal level range" needed for balance, which depends on the item stats and game mechanics, and I think that 36-37 levels go just above this range.

Cos, understandably, they dont want M:BG Alpha to be competing with cRPG patch and Strat reset funtimes for population.

How will it be competing with each other? Most of us dont have access to the alpha anyways and probably wont be able to get it(unless they're planning on releasing an option to buy in but i doubt it). Just release the damn patch

Ladders, breakable walls, and lowered siege equipment would only be added in if new maps were created. Maybe we can use some of the Strategus maps already in place... We'll also be having more active admins around to take care of the trolls.
Yeah we'll definitely have days where there will be a bunch of trolls on trying to ruin the fun for everyone else, but I think these changes would be worth it and I think it has potential to pull some of the GK population if done right. :mrgreen:

To be honest with all of you, i'm waiting for Strategus to reset. Obviously it's out of my hands other wise I would of done it already.
I'm getting tempted to just put out a small patch which would only include some new items and small balance adjustments. ATM we're testing the ladders and slower animations all around on 2h, polearm, and 1h(no no and no, this won't be implemented in next patch, JUST TESTING and will ask people to TEST when ready).
What about my feelings?
If you had to guess will a strat reset take a week, a month, or longer? Your patch work is great and super appreciated, but unfortunately strategus is probaby the only thing that can signifcantly boost NA population. If it will take longer than a full week tho, maybe just release your patch without strat included.
You are the man. That is amazing actually. I was thinking it was just the same strat getting reset, didn't know it was getting tweaked for the better. Thanks for your work dude.

Desire helped with the Strategus values and whoever helped her. Don't forget about the man in charge of items, the item god, Matt2507. We wouldn't have the item pictures or items if it wasn't for him. Rico is also in the background helping with a variety of stuff. And please don't forget about the people who have been recently making tournaments. :mrgreen:
We should get a Strategus reset and couple patches this month. Still have a crapload of items to look into and add.

I was told last weekend but I made a mistake on my side when the items pictures were being added. Names did not match up correctly so had to go back and figure out which was added and which ones I needed to change. Took a lot of time and didn't finish till a couple days later. That could of threw timing off and you must understand that the donkey crew is most likely coming back from break and are extremely busy, probably one of their busiest times if it was my guess. With that being said, I think and hope in the next week. I'll keepo doing my part and keep asking. That's all I can do for Strat. BTW I changed alot of the values to make it easier for new players and everyone else. So hopefully less grind and more battles when it does reset. All those changes are commited so once its resets we'll see a new strat. Also asked about crime being lowered, no promises.

Never gonna happen, i'm too good at lone-wolfing that trade.
Although i hope we do get rid of crime, it certainly made it easier to take huge amounts of S/D as factions would just leave some fiefs to get fat. It also made it harder to dump stupidly high garrisons in every single fief.
The main reason I dont want crime is so that way Dutchy and all of LL doesnt quit the mod. Who else is supposed to cause 99% of the wars and battles?
