Title: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !

So i got myself a new gaming pc and did what i wanted to do for a couple of months now - mod my Skyrim to the max and start playing it again (i actually never finished any major questlines in my previous playthroughs, except for companions).  Turns out the wait was worth it ! One evening of browsing through mods on SkyrimNexus , less than an hour of installations and there we go- a brand new, pimped out Skyrim !
Now don't get me wrong , this is not a bragging or an e-peen thread , i just really want to share my joy of this new playthrough and i'd also like to encourage people to try and give Skyrim another go. Some games start to truly shine with mods (hello M&B) and i believe this is the case here.

Vanilla skyrim may lack in balance (op enchanting, stealth, smithing etc), enemy variety (even the dragons get annoying and repetetive at some point) and in depth of it's skill system, but it surely always deliveres when it comes to creating an atmosphere of adventure and exploration, not to mention the great scenery. Now imagine most of Skyrim's flaws fixed and it's successes multiplied and you'll get an idea of what Pimped Skyrim is all about .

Now , let us get started.

I don't know whether this topic will interest anyone or not, if people will start showin signs of interest i'll try to go into more details, but for now i'll just make a brief presentation of some mods.

First and foremost , you will of course need the up-to-date version of Skyrim, preferably with Dawnguard. Although afaik, mounted combat and crossbows are available through patches without Dawnguard, some mods are updated for Dawnguard capatibility. But most of the time there are several downloadable  versions of mods , so Dawnguard is reccomended, but optional.

1.  Tendos Skyrim Redone.     http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9286 (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9286)  You can read all the info about the mod here as well as d/l it

Where graphical and atmospheric mods are the icing on the cake, THIS mod is the cake. It fixes 90 % of Skyrim's flaws as an RPG.
Here's just a small list of what it does and changes :

- Combat system redone. Enemies attack more often, block more often. Stamina determines the power of strikes. Counter blocking (clicking, not holding) ,depending on your perks, is way more efficient.Enemies also carry more different weapons and perks/spells. In general the combat is MUCH harder but also MUCH more exciting and rewarding.

- Scaling of enemies is there for the most part, however some places have enemies with a more static lvl, so you will have to come back there after you've done your Rocky training session, otherwise you'll get your ass kicked alot.

- Magic scales as you invest into it. Crapton of new spells for all schools of magic.

- 99 % of racial abilities are either tweaked or completely changed to be made unique. For example Khajit move faster and take half of the falling damage, while orcs have a bonus to smithing .

- implemented armors and weapons , with an option to d/l other armory mods that have compatibility plugins for this mod. Bazillion of new weapons types (spears, sabers, glaives, battlestaves) with new perk trees for specific weapon classes.

Last but not least , all the perk trees are completely redone. I can't stress  enough how brilliantly done most of them are now, the amount of options is staggering. You have an ability to smelt random useless stuff (like silver plates etc)  to get materials from it for Smithing. You have an ability to insta-kill anyone in their sleep as a stealth perk. You have Wayfayer perk tree which is sort of a ranger/survivor tree which allows you to move faster in wilderness, heal and buff yourself with different kinds of food (USEFUL NOW!) and study different sorts of creatures to a point where some of them won't even attack you. Oh and speechcraft, apart from being useful for trading and persuasion , now affects shouts (power, recharge and so on) .

All in all , this mod is amazing and turns the game into a real rpg with great in-depth mechanics.  It's a must have.

2. WARZONES - Civil Unrest   http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9494 (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9494)

A fantastic mod that creates numerous battlegrounds across Skyrim's map where certain groups of npcs fight each other, while you of course can join in and either kill everyone or help one side and gain reputation. The mod is actually lore friendly , so you'll see imperials fighting stormcloaks or whiterun guards battling it out with bandits , for example. Mod comes with in-game tools for reducing/increasing numbers of warzones, npc spawns etc. By the way mounted combat + Warzones = epic.

Like i said earlier , the mod is fantastic and together with Skyrim Redone can create endless numbers of exciting and tough battles. There is one really annoying flaw, unfortunately - it crashes to desktop quite often, for many people judging from the forum discussions. It may be either  some people's pcs not handling it (reducing the npc numbers can help then), or some coding problems. I can say that my pc can handle the big fights, however i still crash from time to time when i engage in certain warzones.
I'd be annoyed if not for the mod still being so damn fun, so i personally will keep it for now and hope for the CTD fixes in the nearest future.

Update : the WZ that frequently crashes for me is the one west of Whiterun, i've managed to fight in numerous others so far though.

3. Dragons Diversified  http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13930

A mod which brings variety when it comes to dragon fights. Adds a great number of different types of dragons to fight against, all of them with unique skills and abilities. Makes dragon fights fun again and , well, diversified.
So far (i'm not doing the main storyline any further than Whiterun atm) i've encountered a Wild Dragon which uses all kinds of natural magic attacks (fire, ice, shock), a spectral dragon (g-g-g-ghost) and my personal favourite so far- illusion dragon , which creates 2-3 illusions of himself that can also attack you until you "shatter" them. Even the script dragon at whiterun tower summoned atronachs and did some other tricks.
Superb mod, doesn't make dragons OP , but together with SkyRe makes for some really intense and fun dragon encounters.

4. Become King of Riverhelm  http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16374

A mod that let's you claim the throne of a custom made castle town. This is not just a huge player house with everything you need in it, it's full of voiceacted (in a funny way imo) npcs, buildings (even a tavern), courtyard , etc. There's progression (you can buy different ranks from Knight to King), there's a tax system, an arena and even some sewers with new enemies dwelling inside.

One minor problem that wouldn't affect much though - i think due to SkyRE the armors that come with this mod have 0 stats, so you'll be able to wear them , but only for cosmetic reasons, although i'm sure there's some other mods or just cheats that let you customize item stats anyway.

5. Bandolier - Bags and Pouches http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16438

A small mod that turns out to be so useful that it's nearly a must have. Let's you craft fully visible and lore-friendly pouches and bandoliers that allow you to carry more weight. Simply awesome, looks especially great on rogue-like armors.

To be continued , if people will actually be interested in this . I  realise this is a wild (and probably stupid) gamble on my part and might be a waste of time, but i'm just that excited , lol. =)

Didn't crush anything in my previous playthroughs, surely won't this time now that the game is x100 times more fun thanks to the mods.

Yeah its kind of been that way with TES games. Don't get me wrong, I loved morrowind, oblivion and skyrim in their own way (morrowind was by far the best). However I grew bored of skyrim much quicker than either of its predecessors. But mods have always been plenty for TES games and they always spice it up.

SO I don't doubt skyrim mods will spice it up for you. Hopefully enough to make it a brand new game. I just kind of wish the next one doesn't need the mods as much as skyrim did.

Agreed, mods kinda shape the TES game and make up for what they lacked. As for Skyrim I was kinda let down due to my expectations, not gonna lie either but I haven't seen any mods yet that have made me want to pick up the game and go at it. The mod would probably have to revamp every dungeon as I grew bored of them VERY quickly.

Skyrim is pretty much like oblivion and morrowind. Very good at first, wears off slowly but surely, but you can fix everything with mods.

You really should check out that link for Skyrim Redone and look at all the changes made, it makes the game so much better.

I'm gonna have 2 different characters :
sword n board roman style (short swords+shield bashing and blocking)  heavy  armored guy  for the imperial questline (+ Warzones fights vs stormcloaks ) + companions + bards college+ dawnguard "good guys" side + main storyline eventually

And a sneaky character (never liked stealth in vanilla, but the new Fingersmith stealing perks and Stealth rogue perks make it so much more appealing) that will kill people in their sleep and steal everything from everyone, which will actually be useful since in SkyRe stuff is more expensive and you sell things for cheap prices. Thieves Guild + Dark Brotherhood+ Stormcloaks +Mages college(Stealth perktree actually has perks for silent magic kills)+ dawnguard vampires side.

That way i can cover most of the game without it getting too repetetive , thanks to two totally different playstyles, not just combat wise. There is a stealth perk for example that allows you to disguise yourself as a member of any faction (forsworn for example) if you wear their full outfit and a master perk that lets you craft a hood and when you wear it you won't get any renown for your bad actions (Red Dead Redemption style).

In any case, this is just the two options i've decided to go with, there's countless ways of leveling your character now.

Oh and obviously i'm gonna keep upgrading the game with various quest/gameplay mods to prolong the fun.

@ Everkistus  -  alright then , i'll start adding new mods to the list when i come back home today =).

Doesn't the skyre mod break brawls? Or are they meant not to work for khajiit/argonian characters? My fist attacks kill my opponents in brawls, they also draw weapons after i hit them a couple of times... Kind of breaks a ton of stuff...

Not so sure what you're talking about, are you certain you didn't have the "unarmed" weapon equipped during those ?

Hmmmmmmm... You might be onto something, might try that again. Though i didn't really equip anything, you get fists coming up automatically, when you start a brawl and noone else reacted in any way apart from the opponent drawing weapon and running away.

You receive the " unarmed" weapon automatically at the begginig of the game, it's basically like a normal weapon in your inventory for hte unarmed combat perks in light weaponry.

I know, i use that on my khajiit char, it's just that even that should be unequipped automatically, when starting a brawl, right?

Just did some minor research, it's a common glitch for many mods , here's what i found

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23435

So Tendo (september 8) said that he'll include this fix in the next SkyRe update.

and i think you can install this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24020 , "user version" .

I personally recommend ASIS : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18436

This + SkyRe can make the game really challenging and the unexpected will happen. Due to randomized spawns, sometimes you will do a dungeon and have to flee halfthrough because further enemies are too tough/numerous.

That sounds epic and YES on the stealth perks. Holy crap thats cool. Definitely should have the ability to sneak in if you have an outfit of the people you're trying to infiltrate.

Sounds pretty cool actually. Good luck and hope its actually enjoyable. Sounds like it would be.

This sounds nice too. Its what I liked about morrowind. You could go into a cave and get slaughtered because the enemies there were 10-20 lvls higher than you since the enemies weren't weak to begin with then scale with your level. It made every cave, dungeon, etc interesting.

I'm having a really weird issue with skyRe. Whenever I activate some doors (not all), a dialog appears that asks me what I want to do and I can only choose "pick", even though the door is unlocked and legit to open at any time of the day. Haven't found much information about this on the Nexus page so I figured maybe one of you already had this problem in the past.

I'm with this guy. I haven't had the slightest desire to pick Skyrim back up again, despite never finishing it in the first place. It's just an incredibly mediocre game, and I doubt any amount of modding can change that.

Wait for the Lord of the Rings mod for Skyrim that have been worked on for 8 years, then we are talking about a game reviving mod.

Its called MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing)

But sadly they got stopped

Just hope it will be revived, cuz it looked awesome.

I have 450 hours of Skyrim gameplay, so listen to me and try out the mods I mentioned. I've tried plenty of them and, with the ones I'm using now, the game is completely better.

If only the melee combat were more fluid, it would be just perfect, but - what the hell!? - nothing is perfect.

Just increase the game difficulty. :) Sometimes I encounter a group of 20 bandits (half of them mages) from the mod Occupy Skyrim and followers come in handy. And, if you use the Increased Spawns feature of ASIS, then you will need more followers!

No, it doesnt. Stupid followers get stuck on narrow tunnels and makes me rage.
Yes, this happens quite often in most interior spaces. There is a mod for that, but I'm not sure if it works with UFO, but it does work without it.

That's nothing, especially playing vanilla in master difficulty you reach those levels in no time.

Hey Tore and hmm.. Tor  (  :| )  if you guys want more info on mods you can always pm me, i got the latest version of SkyRE running +lots of armors and weapons compatible with it and a great deal of other nice game changing mods.

Btw the latest version of Warzones works flawlessly for me without any CTD , so you should definitely check it out, it also works great with Occupy Skyrim (some extra encounters in the world, smaller scale).
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !
Post by: Patoson on October 17, 2012, 01:58:40 pm
If that is true, then I might give WARZONES another try! I just got tired of getting CTD's every now and then, and OCS and Immersive Patrols are good, but not as good as WARZONES. Thanks for the heads-up, Ujin! I misunderstood. I thought you meant a new version had just been released. Actually, it's the same version I had to uninstall due to constant CTD's, and it's from June. I had no issues until I levelled up a lot (I don't know, maybe after a couple of days), then the CTD's began. I get none with OCS and IP.

By the way, you guys should try the Increased Spawns feature of ASIS - you will fight double or triple (or more) the number of enemies! It's awesome! For instance, the other day I began fast-travelling to mountain tops where there are dragons, and there were always two or three dragons, which led to epic battles!  :)

I'm using dragons diversified 1.05, occupy skyrim 2.3 and warzones 5B, not a single CTD yet :)

Dragons are kinda hard though. At level 20 I had to spam (and I really mean spam) potions and poisons to kill an inferno dragon (btw slow time potions = haxx, too bad I had none at that moment ).

They should really make a dlc were the Thalmor invades Skyrim after you finished the Rebels/Imperials questline, since frankly with all the dragonthing, the "massive" rebelion didnt really seem like such a big deal, which really makes me sad.

I really wish the Thalmor were more exploited. In base skyrim they are just a few high elves wandering around like they were kicked out of a trendy disco.

There's a whopping total of one quest in which you can be on their side :

(click to show/hide)

And that sucks. It would be awesome if the thalmor were another faction/guild.

I want the ability to have an elder scrolls game where you can make a merc guild on your own and decide for shits and giggles to invade castles and other countries with people you've hired and outfitted.

Which would mean you'd have to have a much bigger game world. I want to see all the countries on the map and to see border skirmishes and to ignite war between countries with that having an effect on how the main story plays out.

But on your post, yes the thalmor invading would have been awesome. Especially if you had sided with the nords over the empire.

Check out this mod: Requiem - The Oldschool Roleplaying Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19281).

It's supposed to make the game more similar to old titles and less arcade. I'm going to download it and try it out myself.

Also, this site has plenty of very good mods: http://skyrimgems.com

Edit: I have been playing Requiem alongside some mods in its "compatible mods list" and a couple of others, and I am having the most fun out of Skyrim ever. It reminds me of Gothic - slow and hard.

Right....

I finally got my hands on Skyrim. 35 Hours into the game, I spend 90% of the time tweaking and creating my "own" ENB preset.
AS I got it too look spectacular 90% of the time (a seldom thing with ENB presets) I want to just leave a link here:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30230/ (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30230/)

Except for content additions and extreme changes to gameplay...my mod list:

Quality World Map
Better Dialogue Controls
Birds of Skyrim
Deadric Shield Hi-Res
Enhanced Blood Tex
Enhanced Lights and FX (!!!!!)
HD Textures + Fix
Radiant Rewards
Lush Grass
Lush Trees
RealRain
Realistic Crime Radius
Realistic Lighting and Customization (!!!)
Realistic Ragdolls and Force
Ruins Clutter Improved
skyBirds
SkyUI
SM Drop Lit Torches
Smithing Perks overhaul
Static Mesh Improvement (!!!)
Stones of Barenziah Quest Markers
A Dance of Death
Unread Books Glow
W.A.T.E.R. redux
Players headtracking.

I think I am set for a first playthrough.
Suggestions with new mods are welcome! (Content heavy stuff to be used on the 2nd or 3rd playthrough I think :-) )

It's always awesome when modders make models straight from the older TES work with the new one. You still have to place everything by hand, but a humongous amount of work is spared.

Let's put it like this....
My ENB and Realistic Lighting patcher aim for realistic lighting situations.
..but paired with playability.

All possible mistakes etc. are as good as gone ;-)

Vanilla Realistic Lighting might be too dark here and there but with my pack it shouldn't be anymore.

Wait till Wednesday. It will blow.

Has anyone tried Duke Patrick's - Archery And Heavy Weapons Combat? (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3646)

I tried it and it was the best combat mod I've ever tried. It adds speed bonus to attacks and many other things, but, since it uses a lot of scripts and I can't fully understand the installation instructions, I was hoping someone could help me, because every time I attacked someone he dropped dead after 1-2 seconds (script lag).

About visual mods, after trying several, including ENB's and weather mods, I've come to realise that vanilla Skyrim has the best for my taste, as long as you set Radial Blur to high in the launcher options (at first I thought this would be some kind of movement blur, but it's actually HDR/shader/whatever), and with no fps loss.

Skyrim GEMS (http://www.skyrimgems.com/) - this website contains most of the best mods divided in categories (much easier to read than browsing the entire Nexus).

Couple of mods to add:

Frostfall - adds hypothermia/cold, and various armors types protect against it with different values. Gives use to wood, and fires.

Imp's More Complex Needs - Adds hunger, thirst, and rest. Options to turn off fast travel, (which I do). Adds much more too, but with options. Saturation, Calories, Sleep, Hunger, Thirst, Protein, Carbs, but you don't have to have it this complicated. For beginners I'd say start with Hunger, Thirst, and Sleep. Which is the most common.

If I were to have this implemented on any of my current characters, they would die of severe hunger, thirst and lack of sleep on the spot.

I think my characters have severe insomnia since they never sleep.

Wow! HiAlgo is amazing! (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15123) Thanks a bunch, Kafein! I wouldn't be able to play with all the mods I use (especially in exteriors) if it weren't for it.

There's a new climate/terrain/fauna overhaul - Tropical Skyrim -- A Climate Overhaul - I've tried it but I kinda like snowy Skyrim more. Give it a try if you're tired of the vanilla country (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33017).

This is my favourite setup with SkyRe:

Always remember to use BOSS (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6) (and NMM of course (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/modmanager/)) to have it sort your mods load order, although sometimes you might have to make little changes yourself (or some mods might still not be recognised by it). If you're having problems deciding a load order, check this out: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/906023-aops-dangerous-file-list/ (second post). You might also have to use Wrye Bash (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1840) if you use many mods that edit levelled lists.

I think you should be fine to play it with low-medium graphical settings (I've read that the game can only make use of 4Gb of RAM max) and remember to try out the mod Kafein mentioned (HIALGOBOOST) in case you run into crashes - it really got rid of all crashes for me. There are other mods that help with framerate, but I haven't tried them all. The only problems for this game are mods that add HQ textures, models, etc., lots of NPC's (especially outdoors) and, if they involve a lot of scripts, even worse. WARZONES is a good example - it used to be great, but it's very old and it's the only mod that slows my game down a lot lately. Immersive Patrols is a nice up-to-date alternative.

By the way, lads, the newest patch of Skyrim is already live. I haven't downloaded it yet until I see that most of the mods I use are compatible/updated, but the changelog is really interesting. A cool feature I read is that you can now "retire" skills that have reached level 100 to keep levelling up! (and hopefully get looms in the future )

By the way, a couple more mods I've found a little late. I haven't tried them yet, but they look promising:

Just check the minimum system requirements and compare them with your rig. :P

By the way, Dawnguard is quite nice (vampires, vampire-hunters, quest-line, new armours and crossbows), Hearthfire, though, is quite useless (or so they say - it just lets you build your own home, while this can be done with some mods instead), and Dragonborn is said to be very nice as well, although I haven't tried it yet.

Duel just enhances vanilla combat system and improves AI with teamwork.

Deadly Combat (customisable via in-game spell) makes every hit stagger/interrupt, has timed blocking (but buggy for me) and improves "individual" AI.

I like DC because of the stagger. It's how it should have been - like in all other games, including Warband. If you start swinging your greatsword and the enemy hits you with a 1h sword first, you are interrupted. By the way, you can use both together: I load DC last (so DC features have preference) and without DuelPlayerProc.pex (as stated by LogRaam) and both AI enhancements fit together nicely. But, in my opinion, the best combination is ASIS + DC (with PISE patch loaded after ASIS.esp). By the way, you can now use ASIS' Automatic Perks and Spells (apart from AI) with SkyRe. Download this guide by T3nd0 (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33995) and search the document for "asis". There will be a list that you should add to [PERKEXLUSIONLIST] in AutomaticPerks.ini of ASIS (you have to do this before running the ASIS patcher).

There's also SkyRe's combat, which makes more drastic changes, but I haven't really tried it, because I just didn't like what I read in the description.

And then there's Duke Patricks - Archery And Heavy Weapons Combat. In theory, it's the best I have seen. Some interesting features are momentum (like speed bonus in Warband), weapon reach dependent on the actual model of the weapon and body size affecting strength. I tried it a couple of times, but I had to give up because:
If you manage to get it work properly, I'd love to know how, because, despite that, it looks like the best combat overhaul.

Both feel very clunky IMO. They try to add layers of complexity without really fixing the problems.
Indeed. No matter what combat mod you use, the game will still have those annoying bugs (attack-block transition, cancelling attacks, sprint getting stuck after swinging, etc.).

By the way, I have been playing the Dragonborn DLC for some days now, and I have to say it's much more fun than Dawnguard. They have done a really good job with this DLC.

Here's a screenshot of Climates of Tamriel (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17802) with Realistic Lighting Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30450) and Pure Waters (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1111) (which is much better than WATER REDUX and more stable). The first two mods are the best in my opinion, because, not only are they good, but they don't affect framerate as much as ENB's. In fact, RLO has bugfixing that makes the game a lot smoother in many areas.

(click to show/hide)

By the way, I used to get CTD while quicksaving very often, and I think I found how to avoid it: don't press any keys until the game is saved and the game "unpauses". Ever since I started doing that, I haven't had any more crashes with F5 - I guess I used to start pressing "w" before the saving process was complete. And, if you use WARZONES and makes your game crash a lot like in my case, drop it and try Immersive Patrols.

Awesome mod, must-have, since it lets you improve each and every enemy type's AI in combat and - believe me - it had never been done like this so far: Skyrim AI Editor (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34767). It works with any mod - be it Duel, DC, ASIS, SkyRe, etc.

I also found this mod that changes ebony armour into something more realistic: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20369
This animation mod for dual-wield and shielder looks great (more realistic): http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34950/

I've tried many combinations of mods each time I've decided to play Skyrim again. This time around I've chosen SkyRe as my main 'overhaul' and I've got to say it's easily one of the best I've used. It changes alot of things in the game, but luckily only the bad things, SkyRe improves so many of the bad parts of the game that it feels great to play. The perk tree and combat are alot better, even with my orcish heavy armour + bonuses to armour rating enemies can still really hurt me. With SkyRe I am using Immersive Weapons, Immersive Armours, Immersive creatures, pretty sure you can find esp's for them all that make them compatible with SkyRe and also with crafting, I can't exactly remember if they were on the actual mod nexus pages or on another nexus post, but it wont be hard to find them.

WARZONES: Civil Unrest is another mod I am using, for me it works flawlessly with the previous mods I mentioned and I have no crashes or bugs so far. Yesterday I came across a battle with 100+ combatants in, I ran in to help the guys friendly to me, it was majorly fun especially considering the fact that a strong enemy could kill me in a few hits so I really had to be careful, think I quick loaded at least a few times because of getting out numbered and owned.

Finally to make the game look nicer I use Skyrim HD, Climates of Tamriel and Realistic Lighting Overhaul, the game is alot nicer to look at than before. Also I use Alternate Start: Live another Life mod, if you've played through the vanilla intro once you should get this mod, it puts you into the game far quicker and you can choose different things that will have an effect on your gameplay, for example my character is an Orc, it let me choose to start in an Orc camp and start my travels from there with Orc gear.

So Listed:

SkyRe
Immersive Weapons
Immersive Armour
Immersive Creatures
Alternate Start: Live another Life
WARZONES: Civil Unrest
Skyrim HD
Climates of Tamriel
Realistic Lighting Overhaul

They're the main ones I can think of right now and I am having absolutely 0 crashes and bugs so far. If you experience bugs and crashes with this mod list then you are probably using the wrong compatibility files for one or more of the mods. Or you have the loadout order of the mods set incorrectly.

OMG! Check out this mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20036

It replaces the models for a lot of vanilla weapons to look more like real weapons. I'm so downloading it now!

Edit: I had to uninstall it because I think it was the cause for a lot of CTD's that wouldn't let me play ever since I began using it.

I like the idea but the models seem to be very low quality.

This makes me remember, I once tried various enb mods, and found one which had a "8-bit" effect, turning the resolution and color variety down. It actually felt great to look at scenery and random moving people/monsters because those things looked more like sprites from early 3D games even though they were real 3D models. I mean it was surprisingly beautiful in its own way. The only problem was the UI so I wish somebody could create a similar thing without affecting UI elements. I think i would play that.

If you people are bored and want to see how I miss 9 out of 10 bolts while trying to kill some dragons that keep humiliating me, have a look at this:
You can see the Increased Spawns feature of ASIS (more than one dragon) and the Dragon Combat Overhaul (the way they behave and the knockdown effect on landing and taking off).

Is there any real Dragon mod? You know a mod, where dragons become super OP and you need to play really smart in order to beat them. Vanilla Skyrim dragons remind me more of drakes or wyverns, they aren't really dangerous at all.
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !

Well, there is a harder preset in Deadly Dragons (you can change stats manually as well), where they do more damage and resist more, and there are other dragon mods like Mighty Dragons and the newest - Mighty Dragons seems to have disappared - is Enhanced Mighty Dragons (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34215/), but I haven't tried them it. I suppose you mean make them dangerous by making them smarter. Usually they are too slow in every movement/reaction (quite poor AI), but DCO is the best mod I have seen that enhances their behaviour.

As far as I know, you will just have to make them as hard as possible regarding stats. There's also the mod Skyrim AI Editor (SkyAI), which lets you tweak dragons too, but I haven't seen much difference - mod which, by the way, does improve humans' and other monsters' AI by your choice via SkyUI menu.

And, just like I found the swords replacer yesterday, if you can't find what you are looking for in
you can go to the categories section and browse or just use the search function.

By the way, from the author of SkyAI comes SkyTweak - Skyrim Balance Tweaker (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33395), a mod similar to BYOG but much deeper. It has some very interesting features.
I also found this little tool that lets you run SkyProc patchers all together and lets you assign it more memory so it can run faster: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/29865

One of the best mods I have ever seen: Sound Propagation Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33740). Download it now or you will regret it!

This : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32597/ (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32597/)  is the mod you are looking for.

Use that with one of the dragon stat boosters (I use Deadly Dragons) and you'll have a hell of a fight on your hands.

One of my favorite features is the added wing hitboxes that let you "shoot it down".  Hit them in the wings enough and they fall.

I use both deadly dragons and warzones. Its epic-heres how my gametime went yesterday. First I entered the warzone near whiterun stormcloak camp. Since I havent started the civil war on the character I was on, it was Whiterun Guards/Stormcloaks VS. Bandits/Mages VS. Undead(skeletons). Since I was there, the guards and I obliterated the opposition. However, during this time a wyrm(from deadly dragons) appeared.
My settings are extremely hard on deadly dragons and with wyrms already OP in many ways, it was actually a challenge compared to normal dragons.
Within 2 minutes all 20 of the remaining friendlies were dead. The Wyrm was still at 75%ish. I had to save and try a few times before I was able to kill the thing, and the amount of potions I went through made it rediculous.

If ur looking for a good dragon fight, deadly dragons is your mod.

I decided to give Duke Patricks - Archery And Heavy Weapons Combat (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3646) a try despite the script lag and I really don't regret it. It's amazing. It makes combat pretty similar to Warband - in terms of speed bonus, chamber-blocking, feinting (these last two not exactly like in Warband) - and also sets stagger/knockdown force dependent on actors' strength and size and makes vampires and werewolves extremely powerful. The major difficulty of this mod is that you have to time your attacks and blocks or you run out of stamina and then you can't block. You have to read the instructions thoroughly. Even though you get script lag sometimes, it's the most complex overhaul I've ever played, and I hadn't had so much fun with this game before.

I don't bother with Dragon mods because Dragon fights are so common that if they were even difficult to kill it would get even more tiresome than it is now, Dragons are the Cliff Racer's of Skyrim except you're forced to fight them for Dragon souls. IMO you should get the shout unlocked as soon as you find it on the walls without 'Dragon Souls' and Dragon fights should be rare and difficult, with much reward, like a Dragons Lair full of treasures, but instead they chose to make them just annoying. How would the story work then? well only a Dragonborn would be able to read and absorb the power off of those shitty walls, story fixed, FUCK YOU DRAGONS.

They're the cliffracers of Skryim except they scale with your level and they don't just b-line straight to you. Instead you have to hide behind a rock for a minute and wait for it too land so it can sponge up some damage before flying away again.

Monster Mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35631) is back in the Nexus! And Monster Wars (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18997) adds the Blue Stripes faction (from the Witcher 2) that protects the cities and villages. Check them out! I use the immersive versions and they are a very good addition to the game.

SkyTweak (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33395) lets you change a whole lot of game settings and is compatible with everything, so give it a try. It's one of the best mods ever made for Skyrim. Also check out the optional download SkyAI (Skyrim AI Editor). It lets you improve the enemy AI much more than any other mod.

Immersive Animations (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34950/?) replaces many animations with much better ones. Complement it with Run Sprint and Jump (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34960/?) and No heavy muscular walk and idle (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/213/?) for a more natural feel of animations. Note: if you plan on using the first mod with Duke Patrick, make sure NMM doesn't overwrite DP's files.

Run For Your Lives (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23906/?) makes civilians seek shelter during dragon attacks. When Vampires Attack (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/28235/?) does the same for vampire attacks.

Deadly Mutilation - dismemberment blood and gore (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34917/?) is what the game always needed. No script lag, instant gore never seen before (similar to Chivalry's). Note: it doesn't work with custom armours like Immersive Armors, so you could consider aMidianBorn Book of Silence (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24909/?) instead. BLEED - A Blood Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35318/?) is similar to Enhanced Blood Textures and Crimson Tide Blood but more stable.

Auto Dual Wield (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35652/?) saves your dual-wield choice of weapons so, every time you switch to spells and then press your main weapon hotkey, you will also wield the weapon you chose for your left hand.

Edit: I've had to stop using SkyTweak's stagger system because I was getting CTD's very often and I found it to be the culprit. I will use Deadly Combat (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5485/?) again instead. Actually, it was ASIS Increased Spawns and especially Random Spawns that caused the crashes. No reason not to use SkyTweak. Best mod ever!

Alright, after a lot of new games trying different combinations of mods, I've finally found my favourite (thank God, because, even though I tend to screw up my game progress to start over, it gets tiresome xD). Deadly Mutilation is the shit - Chivalry-like mutilations with no script-lag at all; very impressive. The only problem is it doesn't work with custom armors, so, instead of using Immersive Armors like always, I've downloaded Book of Silence, a very nice re-texture of vanilla armours Laufknoten already mentioned.

Here's the mod list and the load order, in case it interests anyone:

Deadly combat trumps over all other combat mods IMO. The stagger effects makes blocking worthwhile, and that's pretty much all that was really needed to get nice combat.

Glad to see someone is enjoying Skyrim a lot! I frankly was let down by Skyrim, my expectations were probably set a little too high. Don't get me wrong I played it all the way through and did a lot of side quest but it was very stale and short for me. The quest were not nearly as long compared to Oblivion's awesome quest. Also the repetitive dragon fights, dungeons, and dragur wore on me.

I think Oblivion and Fallout 3 were the best games made by Bethesda, Morrowind is good but I can't get over the no waypoint thing.
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !

Waypoints completely ruin immersion. In Morrowind there are Silt Striders and later in the game when you're powerful enough and have lots of spells, you don't need anything other than teleport or levitation.

Deadly Combat (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5485) is a very simple combat mod that does what you ask for and other things, like all hits interrupting/staggering, locational damage and timed blocking.

Duke Patrick - Heavy Archery and Weapons Combat (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3646) is a much more complex mod that also changes perks (incompatible with SkyRe, ACE, SPERG, etc.) and features momentum (speed bonus), attack-blocking (chamber-blocking), timed blocking and a very complex strength-force system that makes dragons send you flying backwards if you get hit or block, for example. If you ask me, it's the best combat mod. You just have to follow the instructions in the readme carefully, do the necessary INI tweaks and also check this out - I've noticed a big improvement in performance and script lag: Boost AMD Feel the Force also works for Corei (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22879//?).

Also SkyTweak (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33395) lets you tweak so many things in the game no other mod has done before, like blocking stamina cost, blocking damage soak, etc., and it also features a customisable stagger system which works wonders with Duke Patrick.

There's a new combat mod - Ultimate Combat (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36006/?) - very similar to Deadly Combat but a little different. I still like DC more, and DP+SkyTweak even more.

Oh, and another thing: Wrye Bash (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1840) is much better and faster than NMM to install/uninstall mods. It is said NMM can fail at uninstalling a mod completely sometimes and the only problem about WB is that some installers aren't compatible, so, for example, I have to install Deadly Mutilation and High Level Enemies with NMM.

I had the same issue with the Oblivion gates.

This is the reason I ended up hating Oblivion, and loving Gothic 3, back in the days.

I also editted the stamina regen rate so it goes up fast like in dark souls that's why I want normal hits to cost stamina :P

"Duke Patrick - Heavy Archery and Weapons Combat" and "Deadly Mutilation - dismemberment blood and gore" are working together without any problems?

@Patoson
You wrote that "Deadly Mutilation" doesn't work with custom armors. Is there some armor pack which is working with that mod?

Also, I never play Skyrim. So for the first time I will install Skyrim Legendary. I see there is a hundred mods for this game, but I will install just few of them.
I would be grateful if someone experienced could recommend me a couple mods (possible realistic - without magic, medieval set), like: good map, combat (I will try Duke Patrick), armors (if there some medieval pack) ...
I see there is Nexus Mod Manager, and I will try install mods with that program (if that is good way to install mods).
Also I would be grateful for mod load order  :)

You should at least get the Unofficial Skyrim Patch (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19/?) and the other unofficial patches if you need them and Deadly Mutilation (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34917//?).

In my last posts I've mentioned the mods I used in my last playthrough with SkyRe (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9286//?) and other mods in further posts. You can try the perk overhauls ACE (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10037/?) or SPERG (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24445//?) instead of SkyRe.

"Duke Patrick - Heavy Archery and Weapons Combat" and "Deadly Mutilation - dismemberment blood and gore" are working together without any problems?

@Patoson

Sorry for not being very clear. It just doesn't work for even all vanilla armors yet, so, for example, NPC's in Immersive Armors (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19733//?) won't be affected. I mostly mutilate bandits in light vanilla armors, but it's really worth it.

I think that the essential mods are:

For load order use BOSS (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6//?) and BUM (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/311//?) to tell BOSS how to order mods it doesn't recognize.

You could just go here (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/top/) and browse through the most endorsed mods.

Ok I will try, thanks for the recommendations.
If I install Skyrim Legendary, do I need to install Unofficial Skyrim Patches? Are these patches included in the Legendary Edition, or do I need to install the Legendary and then patches?

Sorry, as I wrote the previous post you had replied, and you have replied again while I was editing it :D

The Unofficial Patches are mods that fix a lot of bugs Bethesda forgot to fix.

And if you decide to try Duke, make sure you read the instructions carefully. It's a bit complicated to install and use. And it modifies light and heavy armor, light and heavy weapons, and archery perk trees (combat trees), so you can't use other perk overhauls with it, at least if they change those.

Edit: edited the previous post to talk about the load order. :)

Try HiAlgo for a FPS boost and RCRN :)

Also I definetly prefer ACE over SkyRe.
I can't believe I didn't listen to you on RCRN (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1875/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D1875%26preview%3D&pUp=1). It's the most realistic I've ever seen - pity I hadn't tried it before.

(click to show/hide)

And concerning ACE and SkyRe, I prefer SkyRe because ACE relies solely on power-attacks whereas SkyRe lets you increase your overall damage.

I'm a big fan of the Dragon Combat overhaul mod, I think it makes dragon fights appropriately challenging. It doesn't modify dragons through stat manipulations and buffs, just gives them a lot better combat AI, making them exploit vanilla dragon attacks they would otherwise almost never use, makes them faster on the ground, and most importantly dragons flying overhead, landing nearby or taking off nearby have a real weight and power to them, enough to knock you around like the puny human ragdoll you are. Protip, don't fight dragons near cliffs or high ledges.
The Civil War overhaul is buggy as fuck for me however, I can't seem to get beyond the jagged crown quests for either side before the whole thing starts bugging out, giving out quests for the other side, mixxing up Legate Rikke with Ganmar, sending you to attack areas that don't update the quest, etc. I gave up on it for now, maybe after a few versions it'll be more stable.

Hmm...I guess it is time to make a copy of Skyrim as I have it now and hammer RCRN over it.

Got a customized Realistic Lighting, ELFX and ENB which make the game look awesome allready.
Now if they implemented a good looking DOF that does not hunger for ressources as the ENB one does plus they did so many other fixes...it might look EVEN better.

Will post screens later if it all works out.

I used the tent mod thing, I somewhat RP'd around Tamriel, for me having an actual tent i could set up greatly enhanced the immersion.

It also had a campfire with cooking thingies, which was awesome.

Also there was a mod, I forgot the name, that added in hunger, hypothermia and that sort of thing.

If you like to RP in Skyrim i'd suggest not using fast travel and don't power quest, imo not rushing through the story line makes the game far more enjoyable!

No way RCRN is gonna replace my visual preset.

Nice try, sure...but no WAY NEAR the visuals I have with my setup.

Will post unchanged standard shots of THAT later on.

Check out this mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38649//?)! I've been using it for a couple of hours with high settings and many mods and no crashes so far. Supposedly it prevents CTD due to use of lots of HD texture mods and stuff, but I'm not sure if it can be used with other ENB's.

I'm currently using RealVision ENB (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30936//?). It's made for Climates of Tamriel (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17802//?) and Realistic Lighting Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30450//?) (which I am using) or Enhanced Lights and FX (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27043//?). I use the performance version of CoT+RLO and it looks quite realistic, at least much better than without an ENB, and sunrays are awesome.

last couple of days were christmas for any Skyrim lover -

-  ENB 2.04 really deals with memory probs and makes gameplay much more smooth and stable and Opethfeldt has started to port his amazing old Opethfeldt 6 ENB preset to the new binaries

- "immersive interiors" fucking finally makes windows transparent, so you can see the outside and the sun does not shine in in the middle of night any more...

- "skyfalls" brings fully animated distant waterfalls, no more freaking weird frozen somethings in the landscape.

- "texture pack combiner" was updated after a loooong time and makes skyrim look better than ever before

Keep roaming the wild, Skyrim nerds!!!

OBIS - Organized Bandits In Skyrim (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31264//?) adds new bandit types and spawns. You fight a lot more bandits on the roads. It's fun!

Immersive Questing (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38017//?) is a WIP mod that will change the way you do quests: instead of following a marker on your compass, you will have to follow the instructions in your journal, which will be added as you talk with people related to the quests. It looks very promising!

Better Shaped Weapons (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/39870//?) makes swords thinner and "more realistic".

Customizable Camera (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37347/?) lets you edit the third person camera, the FOV and the speed at which you switch cameras all in a MCM.

Fix for combat music (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20926/?) makes combat music be played with every fight no matter your level.

Realistic Water Two (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/41076//?) is amazing. Check it out!

Deadly Combat (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5485/?) was updated recently by the way and it's better than before.

Apollodown has finally released stable versions of Civil War Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37216//?) and Dragon Combat Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32597//?), and he has made another mod called Fire and Ice Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/43241//?), which looks really good too.

A new audio mod is out, similar to the old Sound Propagation Overhaul, but quite better in my opinion: Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/43773//?). It tweaks the volume of a lot of sounds that was too low before and changes some sounds, like shooting with a bow. It's a very good mod.

Kick Bash (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/44666//?) replaces the bash animations with kicks.

By the way, CWO is the shit! I've fought in sieges in Riften and Morthal apart from Whiterun so far. There are new types of troops for each side and you can lose battles, which leads to having to defend another city (although I haven't lost a single siege yet). Despite the fact that it requires a new game, it's a mod you should all try.

Simple Melee Tweaks (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/39054//?) is something between Deadly Combat and Duke Patrick. I haven't tested it a lot, but I'm really liking it. You get staggered with every hit, like in Deadly Combat, but you can still move. Like in Warband, you can still move while being hit but your attacks are interrupted.

I really do not recognize this game any more, LOL (ok, apart from some well known oddities, bugs and glitches...)

ENB presets like "Somber Lut" (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/41465) or "Mistveil" (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/42957) or "Opethfeldt 7" (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18941) make (combined with a well chosen set of texture/mesh mods) Skyrim look like a freaking movie.

For me this has added a great aspect: I love storytelling and writing (in German, my English sucks), and Skyrim screenies have now reached a quality that rivals "real" 3D art and can be perfectly used to illustrate picture stories. Which takes up quite a bit of my time recently ;-)

Credo- Medieval Skyrim Overhaul (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49133/?) hopes to replace all the vanilla armors of NPC's with more "medieval" ones. It looks great so far.

Populated Lands Roads Paths (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48127/?) and its three "siblings" are amazing. You find a lot more NPC's in towns, on the road - everywhere - and they include "lite" script-free versions for stability and compatibility. Note: I had to uninstall Populated Forts Towers Places (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48651/?) because I got CTD when entering Bleak Falls Barrow (when I disabled it, no CTD).

Enhanced Animation (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/45970/?) is a nice animation replacer.

Morrowloot (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44212/?) is quite old now, but still a must-have mod.

Safety Load (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46465/?) helps avoiding CTD and ILS (Infinite Load Screen). Pair it with ENBoost (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38649/?) for a more stable gameplay.

Finally decided to buy this game during steam winter sales.

I understand i need to mod it, else my experience will be really under what it could be.

What mod do you recommand, Patoson lists a lot of them, but i doubt having all of them is compatible. :S
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !
Post by: Patoson on January 05, 2014, 10:14:31 pm
I think that the essential mods are:
  • SkyUI (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863//?) changes all panels (inventory, magic,...) and provides the Mod Configuration menus some other mods make use of.
  • Categorized Favorites Menu (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4862/?) gives a much more cozy favorites menu.
  • Unofficial Skyrim Patch (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19/?) and the other unofficial patches if you need them.
  • Deadly Dragons (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3829/?) lets you tweak dragons stats, add timed dragon assaults and other nice miscellaneous tweaks, like NPC respawn time.
  • Immersive Patrols (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12977/?) adds more NPC's in the open world and some civil war battles (I haven't tested the new Civil War Overhaul with this yet, so I'm not sure if they are 100% compatible).
  • Immersive Armors (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19733//?) if you want more nice armors (worn by NPC's as well).
  • Immersive Weapons (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27644/?) for plenty new weapons NPC's carry as well.
  • Realistic Ragdolls and Force (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/601/?) to get rid of exaggerated ragdolls.
  • No Spinning Death Animation (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17214/?) to get rid of that ridiculous move all human NPC's perform when they die.

For load order use BOSS (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6//?) and BUM (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/311//?) to tell BOSS how to order mods it doesn't recognize. Load order is essential for mods to work properly.

You should also install and use Wrye Bash (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1840/?) to generate a Bashed Patch, 0.esp so mods that alter levelled lists work together.
Just read the description of each mod carefully and you should be alright. Modding Skyrim is a pain in the arse, but, when you get it to work, it rocks.

Thank you for the quick answer.

I had actually read that post already, but since then, you had given a fair number of other mods, so i wasn't sure if that list had changed.

Do you believe it will be safe to add
Quote
OBIS - Organized Bandits In Skyrim adds new bandit types and spawns. You fight a lot more bandits on the roads. It's fun!

to your essential mods list. It doesn't seem to come in conflict with any of the current ones.

I also heard "Deadly Dragons" could be replaced by the "Dragon Combat overhaul mod" that Oberyn spoke off.

I'll give the moding a go this week.
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !
Post by: Patoson on January 06, 2014, 01:47:13 am
OBIS is not bad, but some of the bandits are just too hard for my taste (more "tanky" than cRPG tincans).

You can use both Deadly Dragons and DCO. In fact, it's what I do. The first one just lets you alter the stats and the second one changes the AI. They work together pretty well.

You can live without Immersive Armors and Immersive Weapons, if it's your first playthrough, but, at least the first one is a nice addition.

Also Civil War Overhaul (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37216/?) is a must-have for me now. It "unlocks" more content that the devs seemed to forget to add.

I heard Skyrim is only able to carry 50 mods...

That is semi-correct ;-)
Depends on the kind of mod - many mods, like texture replacers, do not count, since they just replace a couple of files. Others, using esm/esp files and/or scripts, add to the load and might make Skyrim unstable.

Using ENB (with or without a heavy graphics preset) for memory optimization and a tool like Mod Organizer for load order and minimum interference between mods you can easily have up to around 200 mods active. I am around 190 currently (from small texture mods to heavy gameplay modifiers) and Skyrim is running more stable than it used to do as plain vanilla... ;-)

I'm a bit troubled.

I'm not new to Nexus, and already downloaded mods, that i just had to extract correctly in a mod folder of the base game.
Or
I used steam workshop, for example with RTW:2, and everything was done by itself.

But here i am with Skyrim :

I got a couple of mods from the steam workshop, and they don't seem to appear in my  Wrye Bash. Do i have to do something special with them, or are they "always" fine, no matter the load number ?
Also downloaded 33 mods from Nexus (but the Nexus Mod Manager couldn't be downloaded), that i plan on using with BOSS, BOSS GUI, Wrye Bash and the BOSS Userlist Manager.

As i understood things :
-BOSS Userlist Manager is used to save your load priority settings, so as not to do it with BOSS every single time.
-BOSS opens up a strange internet window, where i can't do anything... (already checked the game when asked for)
-BOSS GUI opens up the graphical tool tip to actually manage BOSS easily, without using Python.
-Wrye Bash is also a graphical tool, to effectively list and view "all" your mods for your current game, and eventually check or unchecked them (and also provides the Bashed Patch, 0.esp, wich is necessary for better compatibility).

I haven't extracted any of the 33 Nexus mods yet (that's for tomorrow), but i guess i'll have to, in the appropriate folders (Data, etc...) AND "add" them to Wrye Bash and/or BOSS.

Once all this is done, i'll just launch SKYRIM-SKSE, and enjoy the game.

Did i get this right ? :S
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !
Post by: Patoson on January 07, 2014, 12:10:32 am
First you download your mods with Nexus Mod Manager (much easier than manually), you install them all, then run BOSS. If BOSS doesn't recognize an .esp, then you can use BUM to create a place for it so the next time BOSS is run it will assign it that place.

Always run BOSS whenever you add a mod. And when you add a mod that changes leveled lists (add/change stuff of NPC's), you have to re-create Bashed Patch, 0.esp with Wrye Bash.

I have no idea about Steam Workshop though. I never used it.

Thanks for the tips.
I downloaded most of them manually, except the latest ones and the ones that were impossible without NMM (such as new Lunari race for example).

I'm having a good stable game, with great graphics. And have only died 10 times so far (no idea who is dangerous or not, since i can't see the name of the opponent before attacking him, damn hellhound, i knew he was looking strange. Also got a damn Vampire sneaking in a town, just after my fast travel, i wounded the guard with a fire AoE, and he decided to kill me for it... for 40 gold bounty... seriously...).

And i got my head crushed in one hit by a Giant. I'm loving it so far. xD Just need to know more about the lore and creatures, to know when to run away.^^

Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !
Post by: Bulzur on January 08, 2014, 10:44:51 pm
Redid it all, since i had two bugs, with NMM this time completely, and not using Steam Workshop at all.

The minor bug i had, was the first dragon's body falling off the sky (with still the flesh, not only bones) occasionnally when i changed zone. Was... intriguing.

The bug kind of game breaking one, is endless stamina... When i run, and it depletes, i can't run anymore, and it recharges.
But here (i use SPERG for new perks), i went for archery with the slow mo when zooming and :
-no zoom. Stamina depletes super fast, while it's actually freezing time. Can still hold the freeze, even with no stamina. When letting it go, i can move, shoot and all, and 1 or 2 seconds later, time goes back to normal.
Problem is, stamina doesn't regenerate afterwards, my stamina bar remains empty BUT i can still run around, power attack, re-freeze, etc... endlessly. I tried to run, and... i could indefinitely.
Skyrim with no stamina would be meh... No idea if it's SPERG causing that, just this special perk, or what.

Any of you used SPERG and this Steady Hand or whatever archery skill for slow-mo, and not encountering this problem ?
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !
Post by: Patoson on January 08, 2014, 11:02:10 pm
I don't know about SPERG, but the dragon corpse appearing all of a sudden when loading a game or changing zone belongs to the game, not a mod. Just open the console, click on the dragon, enter "disable" and, if it disappears (which means you clicked on the dragon correctly and not something else), enter "markfordelete".

Guards of the Hold (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49616/?) replaces the armors for all guards with very cool ones. Recommended to use with "Rebirth of an Empire" and "The Stormcloak Rebellion" mods from Steam Workshop. Edit: I have installed Credo (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49133/?) and then "Rebirth of an Empire" and "The Stormcloak Rebellion" - these two I've placed them after Credo.esp in the load order - and I have Credo's guards' armors plus civil war armors from the other two. Awesome combination (I didn't like Imperial armours from "Credo" or guards' armours from "Guards of the Hold" much). Here's a screenshot of me wearing the new Stormcloak armour (gloves and boots are Dawnguard light set) and my followers wearing the new Imperial heavy armour (all three from those two mods at Workshop):
(click to show/hide)

Combine replacer mods like these with Morrowloot (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44212/?) (which removes/hides most "fantasy" armours) for a different gameplay.

By the way, I just realised that you can use Bashed Patch, 0.esp (from Wrye Bash (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1840/?)) to edit some game settings, like arrow speed, timescale, max resistance (at 100% blocking really blocks all damage), etc. under Tweak settings tab (right-click on Bashed Patch, 0.esp, Rebuild patch).

Equipping Overhaul (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49784/?) makes all your "favorited" weapons visibly sheathed on your character (like the .ini tweak "gearedup" but without bugs). It's awesome! Combine it with Belt-Fastened Quivers (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35717/?) so the arrow quiver won't overlap the 2h weapon you might have.

Skyrim Stability Guide (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50244/?) and Speed and Stability Guide for ENB (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50214/?) are new very helpful guides.

Natural Lighting and Atmospherics for ENB (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50065/?) looks really good, to be used with latest ENB version and without RLO/ELFX and/or CoT. Edit: I have tried it and didn't like it much.

I'm going to try Phinix Natural ENB (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24235/?) instead, which is more similar to vanilla. Edit: wow! This is the best ENB I have ever seen. I love it.

SSME - Skyrim Startup Memory Editor (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/?) is incredible. Coupled with Phinix ENB, which works with latest 0.246 (and already includes ENBoost (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38649/?)'s tweaks), I haven't had a single CTD, unlike at the beginnings of Skyrim. Note: if you were already using Safety Load (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46465/?), uninstall it, since they aren't compatible, and SSME is much better.

Thinking of playing it again, but don't know what race and class...
I have already played Nord, Bretone and Khajiit...
I know I can play every class after some time but what's cool to be specialized on and what race to play with then?
Greetings!

Have you played an assassin/thief/stealth character yet? It's extremely fun till you get sneak up to level 100 with all perks, after that it's simply OP. But yeah I'm pretty sure you already played something like that...
To be honest there isn't much difference between the classes anyway. What about mods that drastically change the gameplay? Like Skyrim Redone. I'm sure vanilly Skyrim will bore you soon enough.

The memory patch is an absolute must have. I can run with uGrid set to 11 without ever crashing, which is awesome. Together with grass mods, this brings an enormous improvement to the exteriors.

So , pretty much like everyone, i got bored and decided to go back to good ol' Skyrim once again. Gotta completely reinstall the whole thing + mods (i had a BUNCH of them).

Can someone please give some insight on the  more global overhaul mods like SkyrimRedone ? I really enjoyed the depthness it added to the gameplay and balance, is it still the best one out there or are there alternatives available now? I remember SkyRE was pretty hard to get SkyRE to work with some mods, especially armor/weapons.
Also, same question for the Civil War overhaul mod.

P.S. oh and one more thing, i remember i dl/ed a LOT of graphic mods and enbs, the biggest download was a huge retexture pack.. any advices on that ?
P.P.S. Which combat overhaul mod works better with Skyre or in general ? Deadly combat , ulltimate combat, duel-combat realism ?

Your suggestions and advices are very welcome . :)

For SkyRe, I used Deadly Combat (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5485/?) for a very long time, because I liked the stagger on each hit, but now I think it lasts too long and can be abused against bots. Ultimate Combat (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36006/?) doesn't have stagger with every hit, but it has other nice features. I use UC with Locational Damage (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12615/?)

For Civil War Overhaul, you have to start a new game. You can't install it (or uninstall it) in the middle of a game.

Other overhauls: Requiem (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19281/?), SPERG (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24445/?) and Skyrim Unleashed (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25869/?).

For graphics, I use Phinix Natural ENB (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24235/?), Realistic Lighting Overhaul (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30450/?), Skyrim Flora Overhaul (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/141/?), Skyrim HD - 2K Textures (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/607/?) and the official HD textures.

Skyrim Stability Guide (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50244/?) and Speed and Stability Guide for ENB (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50214/?) are new very helpful guides.

No, I don't use it right now, but it's a nice mod. Make sure to try CoT Weather Patch (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/39799/?) if you use it. IIRC it was a nice addition.

Errr.. this might be a stupid question, but do i still need to use the reproccer whenever i install new armors/weapons if i have skyrim redone ? Immersive armors/weapons, unique uniques etc .
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !

Yeah. After you have installed all the new stuff, rebuild the bashed patch and run the Reproccer. For at least the Reproccer I'd rerun it every time you add any new mods.

I almost forgot: you could try Simple Melee Tweaks (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/39054/?) as combat mod too. It has stagger on each hit like DC but instead of a stagger it's an interruption like in cRPG (and you can still move), although player hits have to take at least 25% of NPC's life to interrupt.

I tried it for a bit and it's not bad, but the scripts seemed a bit laggy to me.

Edit: actually now I'm back to using Deadly Combat. Screw the other mods. No stagger, no fun! Also, DC allows you to tweak armor skill scaling, player and NPC weapon damage and other nice stuff that lets you balance the damage between you and the enemies.

Got a good mod comparision of graphic mods now, not many but effective and make your Skyrim look fantastic!
W.A.T.E.R (+ enhanced terrain in it)
Climates of Tamriel
Enhanced Blood Textures

My Skyrim now looks, especially in water terrain(e.g. Riverwood) fantastic with the W.A.T.E.R mod.
Now I am thinking of adding Elves Face mod because I think I'm going to replay Skyrim with an elv. Which one yould You recommend and what class for?

I'm a filthy and shallow min-maxer so I always pick Nord, then go hybrid with everything but magic. I switch to 1h+shield vs archers (or shoot them) and switch between light and heavy armor depending on the situation.
Title: Re: Xzibit pimped my Skyrim !
Post by: Kafein on April 03, 2014, 09:51:05 pm
I use Requiem with almost nothing else.

It's really good, although the emphasis on role-playing is a little bit too much at times. If you don't have the perk to do something, you pretty much can't do it at all. Hence it's impossible to pick high level locks. It feels like your character is playing the game more than you are. Combat is pretty much the same. Either you can beat something, either you can't. There aren't many balanced fights.

The point for me is that I prefer being a specialized fighter so like mage, battlemage, 2 1h, 1h shield etc and don't know what to pick now (I love Miraak's style :P)
And what race to take :/

hmmmm... think I had that once as well.... I THINK it was one of the wildlife mods.

Usually a mod that either

-spawns additional critters there
- or a quest trigger

Sometimes it is known which mod adds creatures or triggers to a specific region, if not, disable one by one until the CTDs are gone...

If you want to keep track of file updates in NEXUS website, go to your account options, and enable notifications for new file uploads, save, then go to every mod you want to track and click on "track". Then every update of your tracked files will be notified to you by the icon at the top with a number (0 if no updates yet). After the last changes in the website, it's not very responsive; sometimes, even if it says 0, there might be updates and you have to click on the icon to see a list. This way it's very easy to keep track of updates for your favourite mods.

Skyrim - Enhanced Camera (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55738/?) is a new mod that improves first person camera. So far, it works great for me and I can see my legs!!!.

Loot and Degradation (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55677/?) makes tempered gear degrade and puts enchanted and tempered gear in the leveled lists.

I don't know. To be sure, read the description of both mods you're interested in and, as far as I know, this kind of mods don't work if you change the FOV (default 65), although I haven't tested it much.

Great modding tips and mod list. The unofficial patches, SkyUI and convenient horses are essential imo, I don't even bother starting the game without these mods installed.
"Run for your lifes" and "when vampires attack" are also essential for me, even though they don't seem to work sometimes. Still Skyrim is already pretty lifeless so I don't need stupid dragons or vampires killing all the townsfolk.

Sadly Skyrim kinda lost it for me. I recently achieved all the steam achievements, which was quite a grind, and finished most of the quests, so there isn't much to do anymore.

Guess I will do some modding now. I thought about making my own follower mod (like UFO or AFT) but it's pretty hard to do without scripts. The thing is those mods are just too bloated for me, it would be great if there were "lite" versions of these mods. There's just way too much unnecessary stuff...

Try EFF (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12933/?). It's my favourite follower mod.

If I ever decided to make a mod, I'd try to make a better version of Deadly Combat, where, instead of stagger, attacks would just interrupt, letting you move, and recovering from the hit fast, like in Warband. Vanilla combat sucks balls, though, and I don't like the other combat mods, so I stick to Deadly Combat, even though the stagger could use some tweaking.

Did anyone have an advice for this problem i have in skyrim? The keys of Convenient Horse doesn't work anymore for me, i can't loot, harvest or open the inventory neither set the horse follow/stay with the keys.
This is weird coz everything else works fine, the mounted combat, the whistle and horn call also. And it happened in the middle of a game, all of a sudden...i haven't installed any new mod/version or whatever, it just broke.

From the mod's forums:

Try quest restart via console (StopQuest CH) -> (StartQuest CH). Do not recover items when asked.

Open the console, type "stopquest ch", press enter, close the console, wait a bit, then open the console again, type "startquest ch", close the console and wait a bit.

Whenever you have a problem with a mod, the best thing to do is to search the mod's posts or forum.

So I've been going through mods and I've came up with a list, and decided to us Tendos' SkyRe
But I just have a few questions:
does the crafting overhaul http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49791/?  work if I have armors/weps from other mods? and with SkyRe?
Is immersive animations http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34950/?    compatible with SkyRe?
I'm also going to use the Floral Overhaul, but are realistic aspen trees (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51069/) compatible with it and is more fallen trees (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55699/) compatible with it?
Then I have found 2 ENB's:
Phinix Natural ENB  http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24235/
RealVision ENB http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936/
would they be useful with/get in the way of mods like the floral overhaul?

ENB's generally change contrast/saturation, so some stuff can have a bit different colour, but both should be fine. Keep in mind that SFO can fuck up framerate, although it's really nice. If you like vanilla feel, try Phinix'.

Regardless, whenever you have doubts about mods, better check the description and posts pages first and, if you don't find your solution in the first page of posts (or pages if you bother), you can click on "View Forum Thread" and then use the Search function.

T3nd0's Perkus Maximus (PerMa) (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59849/?) is the successor of SkyRe, and it changes less aspects of the game, compared to SkyRe, remaining similar to its perk overhaul part.

Less or No Magic Mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57337/?) attempts to remove magic from the game. Instead of using spells, casters now go melee. I haven't tested it much, but, so far, I have only found one or two casters, and I think they were mod-related.

So I play with Dragon Combat overhaul... and holy shit. I refuse to fast travel so I use carts etc, I was gonna recruit Hoth the companion in Morthal so I went there and on arrival a bandit fucks up the town so I had to kill it. It was quite the tough fight so I went to the inn and spent the night there, and on the morning when I went back outside a vampire attacks the town. We attack it and my companion Valfar shouts at it... he hits basically everybody and the entire town starts to attack us. In the middle of fighting an entire town, a vampire, THREE FUCKING DRAGONS SHOW UP AND STARTS FUCKING SHIT UP EVEN MORE. It's the most intense fight ever and I've been fighting for half an hour. I saved and quit cause my PC had to rest.

We killed the entire town, the Vampire and one dragon. Two remains.

God, I love dragon combat overhaul.

Great mod list, installed a subset of this and am now doing a replay of Skyrim, it's actually mostly enjoyable. A couple of things are still pissing me off - is there a mod that removes the "executions"? Or at least stops enemies from executing you? That shit is so broken, it's not even funny.
Also, the bug with animals being teleported into the sky and then falling to their deaths... There is a mod that at least is supposed to make horses invulnerable, but according to comments it doesn't really help with this. Having my horse die from this bug within minutes of me buying it is GTX-inducing >_>

I think it's possible to abuse the Dance of Death mod settings to set the chance of executions on you to zero.

Great mod list, installed a subset of this and am now doing a replay of Skyrim, it's actually mostly enjoyable. A couple of things are still pissing me off - is there a mod that removes the "executions"? Or at least stops enemies from executing you? That shit is so broken, it's not even funny.

  • With The Dance of Death (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10906/?) or ViolenS (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56980/?), you can turn off killmoves on you.
  • Try limiting framerate to 58, and setting this line to true: WaitBusyRenderer=true (under [LIMITER]) in enblocal.ini (if you use an ENB or ENBoost).
  • Convenient Horses (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14950/?) lets you give horses more hitpoints or just make them essential (immortal), among many other things.
I will check out those mods, thanks.
I don't use ENB.
Really? I looked through it's settings, didn't find that... --edit: yes, it's there, hadn't noticed, this saves me so much rage :)

Jaxonz Diagnostics (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62346/?) shows an in-game MCM that lets you run script latency tests among other things. Check out his other mods (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/users/10674107/?tb=mods&pUp=1). Lots of good stuff!

Action Combat (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62856/?) is a very interesting new combat mod. I haven't tried it much yet but it looks better than Deadly Combat.
