The post was up for a little yesterday. I bought some leather and boom it was back down.
anyone know a good site for crafting recipies
I miss healing class, amount of skills, ability to make unique builds, and non-button mashing gameplay from Guild Wars 1. Everything else ( I think ) I like.
WvWvW is totally awesome =)
I still think that 3 parties thing will lead to UIF carebearing in GW2.
Worlds will try to ally 2v1 in order to have more chances. It's bound to happen.
My thoughts exactly.
I heard that this game is focused on PvP, yet it seems there is PvE as well. How is the PvE? Is the game worth buying if I'm mostly interested in that?
Other way around...Do you mean it has good PvE?
Do you mean it has good PvE?
Personally I love the PvE more than any other mmo I've played.
I still think that 3 parties thing will lead to UIF carebearing in GW2.For fuck sake you people even QQ in GW2 about us ?

All my eq. broke during the Norn SP mission with the ice imps, now I can't afford new traits :|
For some reason the norn story quest is harder than the rest. i hope they tone it down a bit.
Yup, I also did the mistake of entering another players inst. sadly for me he skipped the cutscenes, I pressed the reward button, thus can't do the mission myself, now one quest cutscene is gone
What is everyone's opinion on salvaging? I've been salvaging everything up until now, but now that the Trading Place is up, I am figuring I'd be better off vendoring the item and buying the mats from TP...
Salvaging ? I do it only for the monthly achievements. When i hit the quota, i just sell everything without bothering about it.
Then again, i guess people using leather for crafting would salvage more things. As a cook, this stuff is useless for me...

Yeah waypoint costs are an overkill. I mean I get it that they're trying to encourage you to go out and travel the world and explore and shit, but hell if I want to go from Divinity's Reach to Lion's Arch I'm not going to walk through the same 3 zones (all 100% done) everytime.Well i even calculated with asura gates ; using asure gate is not decreasing the cost u gonna pay for 1 time ; because u will be far away from asura gates also...

I'm not sure I understand... why not just use the Asura gate? Obviously you can't use it if you have to go from Divinity to Kessex, but Divinity to Lion's Arch is free.
Well ok, that's one route, but getting to specific areas that don't have asura gate links is costly as well. Just porting in the same zone from waypoint to waypoint is costly. Btw I also heard that using >PvP tab >Go to Mists >Go to Lion's Arch >Use Asura gates is supposed to be a bannable exploit :|
so teleport cost scales with level? that sux I was expecting cost to be negligable later in game, im too lazy to walk everywhere, although i think i miss alot of DE's.
I hope whoever designed Griffonrook Run gets cancer.
LOL.
Is it that bad?
So another MMORPG in the same shitty style as the rest?
Instanced dungeons? Check.
No loot drop (aka no risk vs reward)? Check.
Mindless questing to obtain pixel crack? Check.
Sounds like every other MMO over the past 10 years. Good thing Publishers are willing to allow developers to cater to genre's and niches...oh wait, they don't do that, so you get watered down games that are meant to appeal to as many people as possible. Count me out, as usual.
I have played many of the populare MMOs out there, and I can say, that GW2 is the best that I have ever played, for once, I didnt stop playing cuz lvling took to long, like I did in the other MMOs, the GW2 lvl system is realy epic.
I'm just sour because even my favorite MMORPG ruleset of all time (Ultima Online) even started caving in and catering to the 12 year old cry babies and the casual gamers. I miss non-instanced dungeons (you had to compete for resources). I miss the loot drops in PvP (made you have to decide what was worth wearing into the world, less emphasis on pixel crack, and more emphasis on risk vs reward). I miss the criminal system. You could loot an actual player's corpse, but if they were a non-criminal, it would make you a criminal (and people could attack you or do other "aggro" actions on you like stealing from you, without them turning criminal). If you killed too many friendlies, then you were marked as a Player Killer (basically a long term criminal).
The thing I don't miss, is the terrible combat system of "click to attack someone" and the macro whores. But it did get a lot of things right, until ultimately, the World of Warcrack style of MMORPG took a strangle hold on the market. Similar to BF/COD in FPS games.
I've played a ton of MMOs and played the shit out of this one and I have to say, GW2 isn't all that different from the rest. Some things are kind of treated in a different way but for the most part, including combat, it's a typical MMO. Nothing about the game is "revolutionary" or new and unique to the genre as they made it out to be in their "MMO Manifesto" or whatever.
I also can't help but notice how much they flaunt the dragon bosses in their trailers and make them seem epic. The actual fights in game are the absolute most pathetic PvE fights I've ever had in online gaming. They're all more-or-less the same too in that none them even attack you and you either stand in front of them and pewpew while it occasionally yells and hovers for no reason (it also sometimes spawns mobs at its feet that kill themselves for you), or you take control of a ballista and pewpew while it stands completely still on the side of a rock or something until it dies (which is the last fight in the storyline.. lol).
So apperantly, yesterday someone from China, Nantong tried to log into my GW2 account, how the hell can he get that information? I'm starting to worry I migth get hacked by random people from China, trying to abuse my account, any suggestions, should I reply to ArenaNet and tell them about the situation?
Yes and change password, also if you use the same password on different sites, change 'em - also scan for a keylogger before you do this all.
It's not fine, if you have to verify his login it means he has your email and password.
Hell yeah my server (Gate of Madness) is number 8 on the WvWvW rankings.
Not like I really give a shit, but accolades man. Accolades.
Vizunah Square has some French Canadians (even if they don't like to admit it), so they kinda dominate when EUs sleep.
MesmerYay!
- Spatial Surge: Improved responsiveness.
- Mind Stab: Improved responsiveness.
Thief
- Heartseeker: Reduced damage of the 100%-50% threshold by 20%. Damage thresholds changed. Old: 100%-66%, 66%-33%, 33%-0%. New: 100%-50%, 50%-25%, 25%-0%.
Welp, at least heartseeker spammers were nerfed.
Yay!
EDIT: holy shit they got a massive speed buff
I've been sPvPing/Tourney farming ever since I got all my Exotics and was bored out of my mind farming for gold and this was a very nice step in the right direction. It neutralizes the #2 spammers while still making it an effective closer move, as it was intended to be.
Mesmer Phatasms still do way too much damage and have that OP Moa elite and Thieves are still very, very strong (Pistol Whip anyone?). The lolwin potential of both Mesmer and Thief is just asinine. There's no way in hell that both should have so much utility skills WITH super high burst. The dev in charge of game balance said in an interview that 'Sins were his favorite class in GW1 and Thieves are just renamed 'Sins when it comes down to it. I think the whole concept of the class is the problem. You can pop in and out of combat with stealth WHILE clearing conditions and have the potential to drop someone in 2 seconds. If the initial attack fails you essentially get a free reset to try again. It doesn't help that everyone wants to be a 1v1 hero and the typical MMO rogue class always provides this.
Right now Mesmers/Thieves/Guardians dominate in sPvP and tourney play with Warriors right behind. Their whole thing about "getting rid of the trinity" and how all classes can play the same roles within a group DOES NOT translate to sPvP/Tourney play when some classes are an absolute must-have and have clearly defined roles and specialties while it's a crapshoot with others.
I've been looking to sPvP in the future on my Ranger...is this a bad idea lol?
Pff mesmer's phantasm have around 2.2k health it's nothing over powered.
Sure they are good at 1 v 1 but in WvWvW they are bad because these "over powered" phantasms explode when their target dies and with so little amount of aoes they have, they are simply glass cannons.
People will cry at anything that kills them. Just go to a random GW2 forum and look at the whine about Moa Morph being OP in 1v1. A dodgeable skill with 3 minutes cooldown.
Every skill in the game is a dodgeable skill.
But not every skill has a 2s cast time.
After I played against mesmers 2 or 3 times, it stopped working on me. It has a unique casting animation (at least I haven't seen anything else use it) and it's so slow to cast that everyone should be able to dodge it without any problem.
how to be a gw2 prodat 360* tomahawk...
I love them thieves who get me locked down for the entire duration of two pistol whips :|Get them stun breakers!
Get them stun breakers!

Meh I play 2-3 hours a day of it which is more than enough for me. I like fully exploring everything and taking my time.
Yeah I've spent a lot of time in areas of much lower level requirement as well just to explore them all and get 100% explore completion as well. Found some really cool places and it feels like practically every area has some really nice unique elements. Although I just finished Sparkfly Fen which is my level requirement because my next story quest is there...stumbled across the Dragon fight and then killed the big Risen ship with one other guy with 10 seconds to spare. That was very fun :)
HOLIDAY
Happy Halloween! Let the trick-or-treating begin. The “Mad Kings” have dusted off their costumes and are taking to the stage, telling their jokes to make the children laugh. It’s a lighthearted holiday, and only children truly believe that the spirit of Mad King Thorn once appeared in Tyria. No one has actually reported seeing him in over two centuries. These days, he’s nothing more than a tale told to make children squeal and behave.
But, paranormal activity in Tyria is on the rise, and Durmand Priory scholars have taken notice. They’re not sure what’s going on, but they aim to find out! Something’s not right.
From October 22 through November 1, Tyria is under the shadow of the Mad King. The weeklong event will unfold in four acts, each introducing new content to explore and experience, including decorations for Tyria and the Mists, minigames, Halloween-specific dynamic events, holiday crafting recipes, and mind-blowing jumping puzzles.
Join us on October 28 (midday, Pacific Time), when we’ll celebrate the holiday pinnacle with a bang!
This is the premiere holiday release for Guild Wars 2, and we’re blasting out of the gate! Visit Lion’s Arch to begin digging into the Halloween content.

Fixed a bug that prevented players using Apple keyboard varieties other than US English from binding the key to the left of the “1” key in the Control Options panel.
I don't even play because the combat is stupid and boring and lame and etc.
... and am a full time ERP'er...Oh Lordy Lord!
Only got a level 2 engineer, but can't they deploy healing turrets? From my understanding so far, I can spec my guardian or engineer into support class. But even with the 'healing spells' offered, those will not be sufficient in many situations, they provide certain timely support, but ultimately it depends on players' self-heals in fights rather than others keeping you up.
WvW is the only reason i'm still playing it.
Oh, and doing the jumping puzzles.
Fractals were a new "breath" too, though they appeared for the bad reason, new tier of items.
Eh, I still have a good amount of fun.Dont think anyone said that it`s bad... but it's boring by its mechanics.
I was joking about DN, but I have found a solid little group of guys that I RP with and that keeps the game fun for me at least. Where the game fails in innovation it makes up for it in immersion if nothing else. The lack of subscriptions, easy to access items and instore upgrades all make this a pretty fun game still. Disappointing given they way they hyped it, but not a bad game.
Vexus this is a MMORPG, if you moved like that there would be no mouse cursor, or you'd have to press a button to enable it, and since you need mouse cursor alot in GW2, that feature wouldn't be that good.
That mentality. I don't get it. Getting better loot gives me no enjoyment at all. And I despise MMO's for going down a route where loot is all that matters.
I know. I got fooled by the marketing pitch. So, I guess I won't be buying their products in the future.
Maybe there'll be an MMO that gives me the option to look cool while fighting, instead of looking like generic warrior at tier 8.
I really wish more games would have a separate set of optional vanity armor like Age of Conan hahaha.(click to show/hide)
It's all a gear grind or an xp grind. Not sure which one I'd prefer tbh. I guess u know when you've onus a good MMO when you don't mind either. the grind would be alot worse in a sandbox MMO then a theme park MMO as well. I guess it would be a change if both xp and gear was completely random. I'd be interested in seeing a game like that.
Btw I was thinking about getting back into this game, how much has it changed since release?
I HAVE BEAT GAME AND AM LEVEL 80 ON 1 CHARACTER. WHAT DO I DO NOW??????????????????????????? THAT IS FUN
To all people saying there is nothing to do at 80... try sPVP or WvW... tons more fun than any of the quests or dungeons. This game has great pvp systems but terrible pve IMO.
What is sPVP? Also I think the combat is really boring... it's like every class is the same and you just spam skills... Guild Wars 1 had a lot more customization with skills and attributes and energy (mana) pools, energy (mana) regen, etc.You can go to it by clicking on the crossed swords on the top left. It's basically like matchmaking pvp. Can do normal or ranked. Everyone has access to the same stats right from the start, so its all about skill. sPVP makes the combat more fun IMO because you can't really spam the same abilities over and over like in PvE or WvW and still do good.
PvE is the most fun part of GW2 :) For this game it actually depends more on the person. I know that someone has about 40 lvl 80 characters, and now has set going for 100% world completion on all of them.
Some ppl play only pvp, some wvw, some only pve, some run dungeons, fractals... Try all of them and see if you find any fun in that, and if not, then u should sell ur account :D
