Y But I kind of like sticking to at least Tier 8, as those tanks have the most potential for improving your skills. From T8 on you can actually try out angling and most of the other fun stuff, as the HP-Pool is high enough to let you last a bit longer than in lower tiers.
I'm still stuck at tiers 5-7, probably because i own some 10+ different tanks in different trees from every nation, spreading my playing time pretty thin amongst them.
PzII (i still own it, with crew at 100% and first skill at 90%, with some added equipment) and Covenanter are still my favourite tanks, with perhaps T1 HT taking the third place.
I do love assaulting and these tanks are just perfect for that.
My favourite tank is StuGIII. It's the greatest thing ever. Ever.

Can you give me a few tips about WHERE to shoot these metal boxes? Other than the back, is it varied for each enemy tank, how am I supposed to know where's an ammo rack/module/crew member, hell, if it's even in that place ingame.

The two targets you want to shoot for are the engine(fire) and ammo rack(blows up). Ammo rack storage places differ on tanks somewhat and can be hard to target. Engine placement however is quite obvious and almost always at the back. You can find skins on tanks that show different critical area target places but I think that just ruins the game.

Well, the idea is to shoot at surfaces that are flat, so your shots hit as perpendicularly as possible. Then it also helps to know the general idea of specific tanks - such as, don't bother shooting at the turret of a T29 from the front :D

PzIV, back in the day, was an uber good medium tank, with a super precise, high penetration cannon. KV-1 was ridiculously good against higher tiers as well. Both have been changed a lot since then.
I feel that the trees are generally well balanced right now, all are viable. Maybe with the exception of french low tier tanks being utter suckage.
Because PrintScreen/Fraps is too mainstream. 8-)

i would suggest a heavy tank for new players because medium tanks are too weak and take some practice to use. Atleast thats my humble opinion.Meh, heavy tanks are expensive and also need good knowledge of the maps to deploy properly.

Whaddya mean?
You need a full crew for any tank, size (and roles) of crew are determined by tank, you can only switch crew between tanks of the same nation and to the same role (a loader cannot become a driver or a radioman and so on). Moving crew to a different tank requires that they be retrained to it, loss in skill % depends on the type of switch - retraining to a different tank of same class means low penalty, to a different class - high penalty.

Top gun (with 7 kills) + patrol duty + scout on that darned province map. Got killed by the last guy who was camping with T18 on top of some cliff as i was wrapping up my brilliant flanking move :)
T-34-85, as well the T-43 that comes after it are not well armored. The gun is quite awesome though, didn't feel like such a grind to get it, for me at least. They're also quite mobile.The problem with me is that I am always against all the heavy tanks known to man.

Next patch Japanese Tanks get added and you'll be able to shoot through small objects.

I personally would also recommend you to have a medium/heavy tank line in parallel to TDs and arties, if you have the space in your garage - afterall, they play very differently and, imo, are somewhat more fun to play.

For example Ardennes Offensive, USA has at most Tier 6, Hellcats, Firefly, Wolverine, Jacksons and Jumbos, while Germans have Königstiger, Panther, Tiger, Jagdpanther, PvIV, Stug
But Americans will have much more tanks I guess.
Also the Kingtiger will have the standard 88, not 105mm

Do not use ''Brother In Arms'' unless they have changed it. It may look good but the problem is it wont work if one of your crew members is dead during the battle. My first choice was full repair all the time.

I dont find the JgPz IV to be bad, by history, its basically my favourite Jagdpanzer, together with the Jagdpanther. Playing it some times also.

Using improved with this new type of 3D-Rendering on 90%.
With everything on high and textures at max, I got about 40FPS mostly.

What tier aree you guys at? My highest tier atm is t6 T-34-85 and a VK 30.01 P. Followed by t5 pz IV H, KV-1. T4 Hetzer, Chi-he.
I have played the closed beta, and once it went live 12. April 2011 I continued playing :D
Also used to play Tank Companies a lot, average experience was about 1500 back then.
(When there were only German, Soviet and American tree, with one X Heavy, one IX Medium and IX Tank Destroyer.
Used to roll in pure IX Med platoons wrecking everybody :D
Once you get to Tier 8 Tank Companies begin to get you loads of experience (if people still play Companies much)
Also joining a bigger clan with good members helps a lot, since they tend to play clan internal companies. They can carry you basically.

I played WTGF (mostly Sim-Battles), quite enjoyable, but on a different level and not comparable to WoT due to completely different mechanics. Joseph, ever sat in a tank? Me neither, but people who did actually said that the handling is quite realistic... if you don't watch out, you'll spin or drift.

My advice is to only grind 3 lines, so that you aren't stuck on low tiers. I have close to 5k battles, and I have only one tier X because I was grinding like 10 lines. Tier X is fun, I have the JG. PZ E100 a.k.a The Deathstar, but it's more challenging than low tiers since more skilled players play it.3 lines is boring :(
I'd go KV-1. Granted I don't play low tiers anymore unless I absolutely have too, and I only played the 1S when it was an OP tier 6. KV-1 is the big bully of tier 5.
I will defend the +2 spread since it used to be a +3 spread! Be happy for that change.

Not always, T-34-2, 32k exp until you can use a somewhat good gun, firstly you have to play with a 85mm, 128 Penetration gun.
Or the 110, nearly 90k Exp till you can use the good gun.

Consider though that E-100 line has amazing tenks on it from Tier VII onwards, they are either iconic like the Tiger I, King Tiger, Or just amazing performers like the E-75.
With the Maus line you get the Tiger P, and some Prototype crap.

So far I see much better treatment than Gaijin. Just went back playing WT so I wanted to put some trollish supersized flags on my tank, then I saw they made them 500GE each.
Brother in arms is not really usefull. When one of your crew member dies it won't work. I don't know if they changed it but i wouldn't rely on this skill unless it's an arty. There are lots of different choices. This one is mine. Sometimes small changes on loader depending on nation.(Russian tanks loses their ammo rack easily)Heavies:

Repair & Camo is mandatory. You may ask ''why the hell camo on a heavy tank?'' You will be spotted thats for sure but you will shine less long on minimap. I don't have any arty. But Camo and BIA would be my choices after that i don't think it's really important while sitting in base :twisted:

Yeah, maybe that's it.Ah, sorry, but it's quite disappointing. The gun is super imprecise and takes an eternity to aim, and then an eternity to reload. 15 second reload at tier3 is HUGE. It can damage and seriously hurt anything it faces, though, if you manage to hit.

Dont know if I should stay "heavy" or if I should go medium sniper and then branch into the Tiger 2 and Panther 2 later. Ah, sorry, but it's quite disappointing. The gun is super imprecise and takes an eternity to aim, and then an eternity to reload. 15 second reload at tier3 is HUGE. It can damage and seriously hurt anything it faces, though, if you manage to hit.

Still, the armor on it seems rather shitty from experience against it.
I lured out a Tiger on Highway with the Type-34, making him divert to me instead of my allies, and took half of his HP with shots to his side.
Ofc was dumb driving on his part too, but still.
Im learning how to angle like a boss driving a tiger tho and also the importance of hiding my lower frontal plate. Its actually a good learning tank, lots of hp and a decent gun. You can make a mistake and survive it without been totally fucked normally.kv 1 is a lot better learning tank besides its way faster to obtain.

I used to have a Maus... it seriously felt like just another paper tank in t10 because of gold ammo. It was a very very sad experience to play any matches in it (the crown of the line which is supposed to be your reward in a way).Maus = Paper Tank?

For quite some time now premium ammunition has been available for credits. The same goes for premium consumables. They are just as much part of the game as skycancer. No pay to win. No wallet warriors.

I don't frequent WoT forums often - has anyone ever suggested that, for example, premium accounts could get access to a separate battle MM, in which gold ammo/consumables/etc is unavailable?

the WoT hivemind is against changes in general.I once realized that because the great majority of those 'forum people' already posses a couple tier 8 premium tanks and often have a running premium account, they are no longer able to comprehend how expensive are the 'f2p' gold rounds. They just forgot that the tanks, which sustain their in-game money sink, were bought with real money. And eventually, they end up defending WG's f2p model.

Damn you Ptx... I never had a problem with premium ammo. But since you pointed it out it seems like I`m getting gold spammed in every fucking match.It gets more fun, when you hull down with a tank, that has a tough turret, but - purple wn8 don't care, purple wn8 load gold at the start. I get hit by gold 7/10 battles on my tier8/9 tanks.

Hotly recommend getting, maxing and twinking out the Covenanter. Me and Latviano have been practicing yolo-rushing with this little bugger, it's great fun and can do a surprising amount of damage, even against tier 6 tanks (since MM is quite insistent in putting us in tier6 battles :/). It must really suck to drive an ELC AMX against us :lol:heuheuheue
