Patch is almost here! Team is finishing up adding last couple items. ETA is before the weekend!  :mrgreen:

Gameplay
-Reverted back to 0.4.0.0 - You can see all the changes here :http://forum.melee.org/announcements/0-4-0-0-the-patch-of-destiny/ (http://forum.melee.org/announcements/0-4-0-0-the-patch-of-destiny/) - This was ultimately our only choice. I spent hours trying to figure out the current build, but after a bunch of tests it started to make more sense to revert to a more stable version and build on top of that. Balance is going to feel different compared to 0.4.0.0. We are still keeping all the item balance changes from 0.4.1.0 and 0.4.1.1. Constructive feedback on gameplay after the patch is implemented will be much appreciated.

-2H stab adjustments

just noticed the new sword will be a german one. Imo sold my bodkins :3 I'll be the first having this +3 and I don't care about the stats, there is a german engraving on it <3

I'm not completely sure about it but I think it says: Wan ich Das Schwert thue Aufheben, so wünsche ich dem Sünder das Engel leben.
Which means in english: When I lift this sword, I wish the sinner that angels are alive

love it.

Thanks to everyone for their hard work on this even as an helpful bystander I could tell it was clearly a lot of work!  :D That plated donkey though getting me all worked up thinking about it can't wait to crash into some enemies with mighty force atop such a stout and mighty creature!

Thanks a lot. As I said before, I am glad others are still working on the mod, though it might have already turned into a mummy at this point :D

Also, I am hoping that the ranged speed nerf on donkeyback hasn't been reverted to 4.0.0 as well. Donkeys were nerfed along with other mounts and San had introduced a well-deserved exception for donkeys in the last patch.

Oh god please no ladders, specially in siege, they just circumvent the structure of a lot of castles breaking the balance in a bad way. Castles are designed with a certain distribution of chokepoints and open areas, and this just allows people to make a bridge straight to flag, breaking the flow of the game, which forces defenders to camp flag or die and lose more often anyway.
Not that it matters, with siege being dead, but thought I'd share.

I have a request.
Rather than releasing an entire patch for fixes like the helmets and such, why not just upload them as soon as they are? Won't be a big download and it means there's a lot less time with the annoying small bugs.
Also is there any word on the icons on the website?
And any word on the high ping issues for some players on the servers?

Bring back old bots that would spam the shit out of you instead of blocking. So much more challenging and fun! (Current HRE bots)

I know that the pictures for the shop have all been taken, they just need to be uploaded. The only problem is I do not think Dupre or anyone other than the original devs, i.e. Harald, have access to the website itself, so we would still need original dev assistance to get that done.There is a change implemented that will hopefully help reduce server lag by reducing the strain on the servers. This is unconfirmed of course, as the new patch has yet to be tested with a regular-sized population, but there is reason to believe that it will help things out a bit. At the very least it can't hurt (famous last words, I know). While this should help reduce any random lag spikes that people get regardless of their ping, I do not know if this will fix any high ping issues that some people are experiencing. The goal here is to improve hit detection, warping through people/objects, slight rubber-banding, etc... basically, all the issues that people have complained about since the more recent patches. For what it's worth I played on a test server running the new patch and even with 90 ping it felt far more responsive than usual with my 40-70 ping. That said, this was a separate test server, not the regular servers. Maybe the ones that are hosting crpg are just old, decrepit potatoes, and need to be upgraded. Can't say for sure if it was the new patch or the different server that made the performance that much better, but we can all hope it's the patch!

I'm glad it's being looked into, it does seem to have reduced a bit over the past few weeks but it can still be pretty bad. My ping seems to steadily increase throughout the day leveling off at 100-110 during peak times. Player count has made a difference as well and it's only on the official servers. On the server browser the HRE server will show as the normal 25 or so and then right next to it an empty official server will be in the 100s. I really hope this resolves it since I feel like it's the single biggest issue in CRPG at this time.

I can't wait to play without fucked up team balancing. A couple bad rounds in a row can kill the server population because people get fed up and leave. Then more people leave because "there's not enough people online for it to be fun."

I am also super excite that Vivi is back. Never cared for the whiny viscount.

That's my fault. I did a bunch of testing and it ended up not working out the way I wanted. So had to push back to fix and test again. 

Pretty much only 2 people have been working on this patch. Give us a break!  :mrgreen:

As much as I like the idea of deployable ladders myself, their addition would most probably kill siege. I can already see how people would no longer be willing to defend, subsequent waves of GTX and rewinding death of siege.

I am not totally against it, but if it is to be implemented, there must probably be a limit (maybe something like allowing only a few players of the team to equip ladders at a time). I mean what if 20 attackers all come at you with 20 ladders? The sea raid map, for example, is instantly exploitable. Siege shield abusers have already proven how they can render defense useless once the possibility of overcoming those short walls becomes real.

Ladders should be enabled on all game modes. We should be able to heirloom ladders. Each level will increase deployment speed and ladder HP. +1 = sturdy, +2 = reinforced, +3 = laddermaster's

Lets make this happen.

Would also like to see wpf rework, with wpf cap and lot of wpf given to low WM. Would like to see that done to every skill, exponential falloff to keep crazy builds in check.

Frankly, I'm tired of trollish builds. With this low population at any given time third players run around with troll gear/build and to make things worse, they aren't that easy to dispatch.

Miss times when STR/PS was source of damage, not wpf and speed bonus. Miss times when you could kill archers with one swing. Also miss time when armor rating affected glances. Right now you can wear max armor and 3/42 troll with Staff will hit every time and deal a lot of damage. Same goes for other silly weapon such as sticks (way more effective against armored guys than my sword.)

I don't know of anything for sure, but from the way people have been talking:

Wpf is currently the same, MAYBE a small tweak this patch, if not then MAYBE something next patch.
Levels will be the same, I'm afraid.
Animation changes are in the works, some might be implemented next patch. Although the 2h stab has been tweaked/buffed this patch.

Originally the next patch was supposed to be an "immediate" follow-up to this current upcoming patch to fix any newly introduced bugs, should there be any. However I am not sure if that would still be the case or not, I'm kinda as much in the dark as everyone else, it's just I speak with the guys working on it more often than the average guy, probably.

Agreed 100%, I can't stand how strength builds only advantage is hitpoints and not damage output. (As if it matters when you're gonna get 3-shot by an agi build with a bec regardless)

As an added note - what's up with the executioner's sword? I can't imagine it has a very strong stab by the looks of it.

Ofcourse they have. But my armor is 78 head, 76 body, 72 legs. Upkeep for this armor is 4086 gold. Sometimes I loose 20000 gold in a 30 min. And their upkeep is near 0 gold. Seems a little bit unfair)

Blunt damage and pierce one. But to do damage this stick must be iron, otherwise it will break (maybe we should add durability if possible). And stones must weight like big rocks to deal any damage, so I think the weight of stones must be not 1.5 kg all, but 1.5 kg each. Stones +3 - 19 blunt, IMO too much

harald: Changed reforge to an immediate action instead of an auction.
harald: Respec changes: penalty reduced to 20% and respec without penalty is possible every 7 days. Free respec does not apply to current hero (but can still use training lessons like before).
San: Glove effective weight penalty for wpf increased from 4 to 6.
San: Ranged weight penalty made percentage-based and is now applied before the PT/PD/HA penalties as 1.5x the melee penalty.
San: Dynamic weight threshold added. Changed from 10 to max(IF*2, strength/3 + 1) with a minimum of 6.
harald: Added new XP formula, adapted high level titles, retirement and STF functionality.
harald: Removed various STF restrictions (marketplace, transfer, only one) because they don't get 10k gold anymore.
harald: Set start level of new characters to 25.

Basicly, we are back to this with some changes.

You mix two different things, new XP formula is already running. The bonus at the end was a testing feature for a new Valor system and this gonna be removed in the next update.

That's the problem. Wooden stick ain't warhammer. It is perfectly understandable when warhammer create dents in plate armor, but stick shouldn't be able to hurt fully armored knights.

For some reason weapons made of wood (clubs, sticks, staves) deal crazy damage regardless of PS/STR. Also are incredibly fast (staves and similar polearms are crazy fast). Not to mention that many weapons have unbalanced stats when fully loomed. Fasader/Paul combo did better work balancing weapon stats.

gameplay didn't really change that much by the patch of destiny. It became (for me at least) better cuz there is no way that ppl have +5 lvl or something. For example in strat all the drz/greys had high lvl chars, so -> 35 - 36. Everyone else (almost) was playing 30/31. Now there are only 3 lvls difference and only a few are lvl 38 at the moment, so I think the game somehow became fairer. And u blame the stone thrower? Eques Dieler is playing now for ages and he allready played stone thrower 3 years ago. It was allways op, but now it becomes even more strong cuz of the low server population. And as I allready wrote I don't think agi is op. I tried it and had to notice that it is sort of really hard to play, for sure just spamming like a full retard isn't, but playing real agi build (not really many are doing this) so with changing enemies chambering and playing 1 vs 3 is reaaally hard, still I think str is harder to deal but it is more effective though.

And something funny: Even though everyone blames tincans to be shit and ppl hate playing full plate, I still got no problem of being first in my team against a whole agi inf/thower/archer team. Stop QQ lean to block and fucking learn to change with the mod, if u still play like 2 years ago u missed something bro

It's out of my hands now. I'm assuming it won't be patched today(Friday)..

For archery, it's pretty much the same as right now, we'll have to see though when the patch comes out. Patch 0.4.0.0 really nerfed archery for the most part. San increased the damage in both of the patches he released so all I did was increased limb damage and took out the damage cap. These two edits are already in current crpg we play at moment.

Read all previous patch notes and see for yourself what was changed.

...u act like im singling u and only u out. like, ur the sum of my disappointment. i dont even fucking know u dont care to. and ya, i know, its retarded calling this patch exactly what it is, a band aid to last patch mistakes. explain to me how this patch will change anything? thats what we really want. sure we did want banner balence fixed as well, but that only takes us back to the same SHIT GAMEPLAY we have BEEN playing since the destiny patch came out.

i say work on a patch untill its completly done, idc if this patch ever comes out, alls its changing is banner balence, perhaps u could explain what these "gameplay" changes are? banner balence does not change the core gameplay, more xp\gold does not either, and while im glad u are testing animations, we've been bitching about patch of destiny for some time.

lvls, wpf, animations, THIS IS GAMEPLAY...sadly the gameplay we are all complaining about now was not the focus of the patch and is here to stay.

Switching some two directional polearms to four direction has been terrible idea so far. Incredibly OP weapons, on par with Long Maul and Boulder on a Stick.

I hope you will nerf throwers. They should have less accuracy, much less, and nerf stones. Last week i almost get killed by 4 stones in lamellar armor(49 body armor) lol :F. Buff horses, 2 arrows or 1 throwing axe and horse is dead, cav need to have raiding skill, sometimes they dont have ath so he is already dead without horse.

They're pretty dumpster tier imo, to me incredibly long polearms are just a pain to use in any sort of crowded fight, and on top of that they have shit damage in 4d mode.

In patch 4.0.0 2d poles were still just 2d poles instead of 2d poles with a 4d secondary - it was patch 4.1.1 that allowed for polearms and 2h to be used on horseback - I'm pretty sure reverting back to patch 4.0.0 means that those changes are out.

Basically san's entire patch minus a few mute changes were thrown out.

We are still keeping all the item balance changes from 0.4.1.0 and 0.4.1.1. Constructive feedback on gameplay after the patch is implemented will be much appreciated.

We probably will have to have him confirm, but what I got out of it most of everything from patch 4.1.0 and 4.1.1 were taken out except for what is clearly stated in his original post, which is range damage increase to limbs and a few other minor changes.

Im using a rouncey and Im ruling the scoreboard. U guys just gotta learn to ride a fucking horse nabz. If u didn't allready know, don't try to kill archers as cav. Never ever ever ever. Unless u wanna loose ur horse. And as long as there are 10+ enemies u can allways pick one whos not close to an archer... no idea what u guys flame about, rl a horse would get totally crazy after the first stone.

This patch was made by a group of players both NA and EU. You should really focus less on which side of the ocean made the patch and instead hope and pray it is a success. If you really wanted to get onto EU for lack of contribution then you should at least do stuff yourself.

How were the 2d->4d weapons ridiculous? When i tried them they were awfully weak, it was nice though that they got some sort of use, because heavy 2d is horrid to play. And being able to use them on horseback, while still useless, it looked like great fun.

This new 2h stab is better in my opinion. As someone who doesn't play 2h very often I found it easy to learn and use the new stab.

On top of people adapting to the new stab and learning how to use it, it also got another buff in this upcoming, iirc. It might have just been due to my 90+ ping when testing, but I only blocked it like, once. It's got the insta-hitting properties of the current stab with the long-lasting lol-spinning properties of the older stab. I think the current stab is in a good place, but 2handers won't stop complaining until it's OP again.

The new 2h stab benefits s-keying far too much and deals almost instant, full damage from ranges that it should not be (e.g. immediately in front of the user). I hate the old 2h stab, but I think this new one ought to be thrown out or revised.

There were a number of typos...it happens.  If you don't want to wait for a hotfix and are willing to fix some of these bugs for your own clients I can help a little.  (Just don't try to use the new exec sword or swordsman armor against other players until it's fixed in a hotfix.)

To fix the Executioner Sword and Swordsman Armor open module.ini and change:

Load_mod_resource = Raylin_brig
to

load_mod_resource = Executioner_sword_Ray_tex
load_mod_resource = Raylin_brig

You may also want to delete the extra "load_mod_resource = Raylin_Helmets" but that probably won't harm anything.

To get the cuffs to show up for the leather gauntlets you'll need to have openbrf.  Use it to open Raylin_Hands_Armors.brf in the resource folder and remove the extra underscores from all four cuff meshes.  (ray_leather_gauntlet__Lx becomes ray_leather_gauntlet_Lx etc.--right click and rename)

There were a number of typos...it happens.  If you don't want to wait for a hotfix and are willing to fix some of these bugs for your own clients I can help a little.  (Just don't try to use the new exec sword or swordsman armor against other players until it's fixed in a hotfix.)

To fix the Executioner Sword and Swordsman Armor open module.ini and change:

Load_mod_resource = Raylin_brig
to

load_mod_resource = Executioner_sword_Ray_tex
load_mod_resource = Raylin_brig

You may also want to delete the extra "load_mod_resource = Raylin_Helmets" but that probably won't harm anything.

To get the cuffs to show up for the leather gauntlets you'll need to have openbrf.  Use it to open Raylin_Hands_Armors.brf in the resource folder and remove the extra underscores from all four cuff meshes.  (ray_leather_gauntlet__Lx becomes ray_leather_gauntlet_Lx etc.--right click and rename)

so far so good it gets very close to loading but fails right near the very end

Here's another quick fix so that you can see your face when wearing the Mongolian heavy helmet.

Open item_kinds1.txt and find all instances for Mongol_helmet_A.  You should find lines like this:

Using either method, stab someone in the front of the throat whilst both hands are on the hilt of your 2h weapon, just make sure your toes are touching and your noses are practically touching. Please, enlighten us with how one method will work and the other will not,, because how i'm seeing this scenario your hands need to go inside your body for it to work.

Including, it seems, ignore basic physics (unless of course you have an entirely different scenario in mind that does not actually involve facing someone face-on at point-blank range). I'd be more than happy to be your test subject, since i'm eager to see how you end up putting your sword through your own spine in an attempt to make this work.

I told you that stab and thrust are two difrent tehniques.

Thrust is thrust easy story there but stab is diffrent story.
When you cut someone (with sword for example) you basically put edge of your weapon on him and pull weapon in to your direction.
Stab is similar, you basically put edge of your weapon on target and pusch weapon throwards.
What techniques supposed to work like knives not like axes.

So by 'stab' or 'thrust' from the front with a  2h weapon, what you really mean is stab from the side, possibly using only one hand (otherwise diagram please on how that works with both hands where the tip of the blade still reaches the person directly infront) and then try and twist the blade so that the end position is as if you'd run them through. Because you certainly cant put the point to someone's body if you have both hands on the hilt, and the sword is much longer than the gap between you.

Considering this conversation started because someone wanted to go all realism and explain why either the current or old animation made sense for point-blank stabbing and sound macho that they'd test this awesome technique on someone here, why is it that what you describe is completely and utterly different from either animation?

On an unrelated note, i'm fairly sure that stab and thrust can be used synonymously.
you can if other guy is 2m high.

Well, yeah its not a bad CounterStrike mod, why so many ppl still trying to use melee weapons tho? Can't they get that this is ranged mod now? Fucking nubs.

As for "Fixed" helmets, put them on a female character with female bodyshape, not the "girl face on man body" armors, and tell me its working properly for you?

As usual 1/10 patch, would remove entire group of nubshits balance team again. As for fixes etc, have you guys thought of testing ingame before release? maybe then something would work?

if so ppl where complaining about my dmg after the dmg cap was removed. hehe that and the reload time from hell maybe i can kill a peasant if im lucky and headshoot him 3 times. (and the round lasts for 3 minutes)

That works too, but it can make quality worse when scaling UI elements. "Force hi-res" basically ignores the texture quality setting for that texture, while keeping the advantages of having mipmaps.

Yeah, there are a few armors with the same issue.  I think the creator didn't correctly line up the legs with the shoes from the knees down.  As far as I know, the only shoes you can wear that perfectly fit that armor's skeleton are brown hose, serbian ankle boots, green/red hose with kneecops, and norman mail chausses.  Unfortunately, none of these match with the swordsman armor very well.

I don't know about gold but yeah the xp is off but I don't think its as bad as it used to be. I only lvled in game and not on website like once on Skillless(who I recently retired) where as it would be 2-3 times.But then again he is only lvl 32 atm so it might get worse at higher lvl.

BTW I am lvl 37 with 10 wm 10ath 6pt 18/30 so stones are 18 blunt . Its not my fault archers are light weighted pussies that can die with a blunt weapon even stones. Buy a frigin shield then.

Alright, now that the patch is some what stable, I can give brief patch notes:

Current Patch:
-Weight threshold changed  to max(IF*2, strength/3 + 1) with a minimum of 6.
-Team balance was reverted to 0.4.0.0
-Added new items
-2H stabbed tweaked
-1H stab tweaked(less ghost stabs)
-Vivi was added back(viscount out)
-Decreased DTV bots stats/skills by 1-2 points, WPF by 50-100
-Roll was reverted, then decreased right and left roll distance
-Increased experience/gold on battle/siege(we know it doesn't show up on the website, donkey crew is having a look at this and should be fixed before next patch, server side issue)
was: 2000 xp / 50 gold
Now: 3000 xp / 150 gold

I thought I took out HA damage cap, guess it didn't work. HA builds will be crippled for about a month or less. Sorry!

Next patch
Working on:
-Increasing power strike damage %(would stay the same as now till about 6PS, after 6PS, the % will be higher increasing damage of str/ps builds)
-Increasing Heavy/Medium armor values
-Decreasing running speed when wearing Heavy/Medium armor
-Bug fixes and additions to current items(mongol armor and helmets, maybe  scabbard for executioner sword, and any other items the community gives feedback on)

-New map rotation(what Teeth sent me will be implemented next patch, need more feedback from the community on this)

i had heard or read...or maybe imagined, that the reasoning behind the increase on battle\siege but not DTV, was so battle\siege would match DTV in gold\xp rewards.

Thus bringing more players out of DTV and onto battle\siege.

so ya, i fucking care bro. besides, i never begged or asked for this, it was promised.

not making good on your promises...is not a good look.

Working on:
-Increasing power strike damage %(would stay the same as now till about 6PS, after 6PS, the % will be higher increasing damage of str/ps builds)
-Increasing Heavy/Medium armor values
-Decreasing running speed when wearing Heavy/Medium armor
-New polearm right to left swing animation(testing)

Also why you messing with polearm right swing? change the left to right swing, thats the shitty swing. You are changing the one that is already good.

I must ask what is going on with the new items balance? Why is the "Mongolian Leather apron" equal to the proper Eastern steel Lamellar armor with 40 armor, and superior to the mail shirts?

Shouldn't it rather be in the 29-35 range like the other thick padded and thick leather armors?

Overpowered as in on par with other weapon classes? Why is the worst swing the balanced one, why should that crappy swing be the standard for balancing? It's horrible to use. Keep it or buff it, currently polearms are pretty even as far as animations go to other classes, but i dont think any class has such a crappy swing as pole leftswing. It does not fill any purpose but feint use.

It better won't be a nerf.

Left swing is utterly useless already. Slow -thus easy to read- and bad reach.
Overhead has fucked up hitboxes making it difficult to hit.
Stab was nerfed badly already making it very likely to glance if you do not abuse the mechanics to turn/tilt into the stab. (And people keep whining 'Stop abusing the mechanics noob' :rolleyes:)

That leaves the right swing as the only reliable attack direction.

It is a really good swing indeed.
But it is the only attack direction worth using, except for stabbing ,which glances fairly often ever since they nerfed it right down.

2handers have both left and right swing, the stab is really good as well and the overhead is alright.
1handers have the left and right swing, the stab which is incredibly good, as well as the overhead which is good.

So basically polearm does have an overpowered swing, but that is about it. While all other classes have other directions to use as well. So why make all polearm animations only viable when abusing the mechanics to some extent?

It actually is fairly good. Not the native stab, but good in other ways.

It isn't like the polearm stab, which was plainly nerfed.

well normal polearm weapon have more or less range of greatsword, and there are a lot of longer weapons, polearms are way more versatile and can go well with all clases ingame(like seriously every clas ingame)
you can have weapon for every situation and for all purposes, weapons specialize in one thing and weapons with many modes and damangetypes(often all of them)

and of top of that that nuge drive me mad

2h is more or less +20 to swag with some really good weapons. Shit stab shit nuge.
And on the top of that overhead is always gamble with long weapons but it counts for all weapons ingame.
