Title: The Holy chadzian Empire declare war on Legionaries

NEWS REPORT!!! THE HOLY chadzIAN EMPIRE OFFICIALLY DECLARE WAR ON LEGIONARIES!!!!

One of Legionaries peaceful villages has been brutally and viciously attacked without cause by a "holy" Army led by a Tristan of Erzoth with 332 troops. Not being able to accept his inferior status as a warrior compared to the great fighter Magic Missile! AKA SLIM!!!

This uncalled for act of aggression brings sorrow to my heart. I would think The Holy chadzian Empire had enough of war from there old self that they didn't need to attack us. But so be it. Tristain of Erzoth shall be massacred and his compatriots should fear retribution for harboring such a vile in there “empire”.

Eyewitness accounts:

Demure, peasant girl #1:  "Oh the horror."  "These vile men are trying to steal my virginity and the ugliest of them raped my donkey while I watched, Tristain I think his name was."  "Please save me before I am despoiled!!"

Wise, old peasant Farmer #3: "I reckon the ugly one wants something from the red guys."  "I hear they piss in the desert and he did attack them in the steppes."  "He may just be one of those piss -lovers, best avoid them folks."

Innocent, girl child #16: "I want my mommy!"

Grizzled Warrior #673: "We will send the reptilian cretin over to EU, don't you worry."

Well I disagree as The Holy chadzian Empire is made up of factions that we where at war with and others that we where not at war, your attack under this new mega faction is a declaration, the other thread was about our declaration upon Acre and its Vassals (House Stark) the leader of The Holy chadzian Empire is not from either of them.

Either way its a new mega faction merged with factions we where and not at war with. Hence this is a new war. This will be the appropriate thread to post things to do with this war in.

Shortly after departing the grand wedding of the Not So Innocent Virgin and the newly crowned Emperor Bryggan, Tristan set his sights on an old piece of land owned long ago by the Starks, held even before the fall of the Kingdom of the North. He rode down south, making the long journey from Nova Curaw to New Ahmerrrad. Upon arriving in his city, he set about arming his troops with the finest Acre steel. As he was overseeing his troops arming, Furnavi rode up to him on horseback, dismounted and saluted.
"Tristan! I see you're wasting no time, as usual. What is the plan this time?" He asked, being as out of the loop as usual. Sighing, I took a map off of the realm off my belt and unrolled it.
"See this village right here?" I pointed at a village, tucked out of the way in the Steppes. "That was the first village entrusted to me by the Empress. I have decided to retake it for her, as a wedding gift, since I so carelessly lost it earlier." Furnavi stood there and studied the map for a few seconds, before opening his mouth and speaking.
"But its straight through Legionaire land! How are you planning on getting over there? Wouldn't they spot you?" he said, pointing out the obvious.
"Well yes, they would, but I have a plan that if I work it just right, we can attack them without them seeing it coming. See here's what we will do." I pointed at New Ahmerrad, and traced my finger along the desert, into the forsaken lands known as EU. "See, if we go along the border in EU, we can come through here and bypass most of their fortifications. If we time it right, we can take this village easily and liberate the poor people." smiling, Furnavi nodded his head.
"It just might work".

And with that we rode out of the city, accompanied by 300 strong men. In a matter of days, our plan would be put to the test...

All The Holy chadzian Empire fiefs in the Steppe must be abandoned.

  I, kind hearted soul that I am, offered Dutchy the olive branch of peace, but he callously refused my generous terms.  So despite our common desire for a nice, peaceful trading simulation, Dutchy and his mega-rich, well garrisoned faction are forcing us to once again go to war and have awesome battles and edge of your seat fights.

So, to my men, I say- jump in the thrill of strat.  It is oh, so slow, but win or lose, it always feels good when you are an active part of the big picture (the big picture being us crushing all our enemies).

Arguably since  acre/starks/merchants did form new faction, a new declaration would be necessary, even if it were something as simple as "Hey LL, btw, we are still going to attack you as if nothing changed." Heck, even if a faction stays exactly the same but changes their name/color they should reaffirm their diplomacy simply because no one outside of the faction knows their inner-workings. Not much of an issue, really, as I am sure we all expected nothing to change, but it would be a small courtesy, is all.

Also, I guess this means that any agreements between WotN and the merchants of Curaw are null and void? You were more or less our protectorate for a while, and well, that arrangement never really officially ended as far as I know. But seeing how you guys are now part of a different faction... yeah... I guess this could be considered its official end.

Bryggan, considering you offered as the HCE, a new faction mind you, offered an "olive" branch to the Legionaries to surrender our lands and submit to HCE rule, our reply was basically your nuts. At that point, our war with Acre/Starks/Vassals had died. So now we have this Mega Faction, HCE, attacking a smaller faction, Legionaries. A basic look at the map will prove that, you own more land and have more people in your faction vs our 6 man faction. It will be nice to see you Bryggan as an aggressors against a much smaller faction with your Mega Faction. Legionaries, how small they are, shall stand firm against your persecution for our freedom. We shall not, be put down and oppressed to join HCE. Our sword arm will sore from the blood of our enemies and defend our lands to the last man. FOR THE EMPIRE! LONG LIVE THE LEGION! HAIL EMPEROR JIMMY!

Oops, I proof read that.  But typos or no, its still good propaganda, worthy of Pravda and such.  But while I guess there was no official declaration as I did not think one was necessary as the Legionnaires did not officially stop their war with 'Acre and its vassals', plus refused the olive branch I offered them.  The war against my peoples.  So, according to Dutchy's post, I obviously thought he was still at war.

As for mega-faction, that is a little overboard.  Essentially it is all the same people the Legionnaires were fighting, except now all one clan.  If there are new mercs, I suppose they will be noobs (and I hope we make it fun for them).  The only addition is the Merchants of Curaw, which I sadly left, but I'm sure they will still appreciate protection by the Wardens.

But, if you are a man who lives by the letter of the law, I suppose you could say the MoC, by accepting HCE membership, have taken a new protector, and thereby the Wardens are free from their commitment.

But this should be a good war.  While the Legionnaires wail about their mere 6 men, they make no mention of their European allies.  By arms and wealth and troops, I'm sure they outnumber us.  And, by having few commanders, we will be forced to fight populations with hard earned ticks.  So before anyone makes any hasty decisions, lets see how this plays out for awhile.  Please.

You guys dont have moving newspapers in HoC? Should invent that its pretty awesome. And I don't see any typos, not my fault that it wasn't picking up Leegionairs spelled right.

Well the merchants did join up with the HCE because there is a lot of money to be made in war, so that would void the contracts with Wardens. Also I've gotten rather bored of trading so I need some fights

And why would we accept your so called “olive” branch of being oppressed and forced to join HCE. Of course we are going to refuses your imperialist aggression demands on our faction whom was at peace trading.
And yes you are the Mega Faction. With 42 fiefs, and 3 million plus silver, vs our 12 fiefs and barely a million silver only 729k. Granted we have 10k troop’s garrison vs your 1k troop’s garrison. But YOU own almost 40% of the map vs our 10%. You can’t sit back and say, you’re the non-Mega Faction with your 43 members’ vs our 6 or 7. I hate to break it too you but we have no European Allies.

So of course we are going to object callously refused you “generous terms” of oppression. You can’t just be like, oh hey guys, where a peace loving new Mega Faction that loves trading and improving peasants lives. While making demands on smaller factions telling them to join HCE. Then attacking them without declaration.

And Tristan clearing your news report is a fake. Look closely at this so called “Legionaries Solider “his or hers armor is clearly red, it is well known that Soldiers of the Legion wear black armor. Clearly this is a hired man of the HCE killing the poor people of New Ada Kulun.

The people of New Ada Kulun are rejoicing in the streets after being liberated from their tyrannical overlords! Dutchy was reportedly too chicken to show his face at the battle and was seen running away with gold falling out of his pockets. The money he dropped was donated to the good people to rebuild their lives.

Well I had to be at work and that village which is really bad to defend aint worth taking the day off, but I promise I will be there when we take it back, you will own for a shorter time then last. Also seems there was gear in there by the stats, what was LL gear like?

(Double post as I expect the above to be plussed while this one will probably be minussed)

Due to the concerns whether war had been declared, or war had been undeclared, or whether Tristan was justified in attacking the Legionary village, the Holy chadzian Emporer addressed the senate:

"Friends, chadzian, and countrymen, lend me your beer.

As you may know, the Legionnaires claim that we have struck them without any declaration of war. As if the wails of the widows and orphans of Durrin Castle, Ahmerrad, Durquba, and Uhhun Castle was not declaration enough.

They declared 'eternal war' against anyone whom they considered allied to Acre, with no true cassus belli save that they did not like them. They picked and chose though: Guildmaster Blue and his Merchants of Curaw were only spared because they had Warden protection, whom the Legionaries fear. This reveals their true cowardice.

They sent shiny armies into the desert with no other plan than genocide, and only withdrew when our valiant defenders managed to bloody their noses a bit. So I ask you, how long til the next invasion? Shall we give them time to rebuild so they can once again revisit their horrors upon our lands? I say 'no'.

I can only promise you very, very bloody battles, for the strength of their veteran mercs is legendary, while most of us are hapless noobs; but we are now united, we are now strong, we are now rich. Let us exact revenge for our many lost ticks due to their unwonted belligerence, let us repay blood with blood, let us show that we have not been broken by their aggression. They sowed the wind, and now, they are going to reap the whirlwind!"

Bryggan was bitter.  There should have been another battle, but Dutchy squeezed through his 3.5 hour sleep window.  Bryggan had him.. he really had him.   S&D was rising in Ichamur, and Dutchy would be intercepted. Bryggan, pathetic gameplayer that he was, had actually set his alarm, figuring it would take 4 hours for Dutchy to get to Ichamur from Dirigh Aban.  His blockade failed.  Dutchy had rushed through and was able to once again control the economy of his city. The 5000+ troops in Ichamur would not starve to death.  Dutchy could now control the SD that was so close to hitting 1000.

Bryggan cursed.  Dutchy was sitting comfortable, and would no doubt attack him with overwhelming numbers, a battle he was sure to lose.  'What the hell', Bryggan figured, 'To fight or not to fight, that is the question.  Whether ti's nobler in mind to suffer the polearms and range of outrageous fortune

Or to take Arms against a Sea of Euro gold,
And by opposing, end them? To die, to sleep—
No more; and by a sleep, to say we AFk,
The Heart-ache, and the thousand Natural shocks
That gaming is heir to? 'Tis a consummation

And then Bryggan thought, nah, wtf, there is no perma death here; I'll blockade til I'm destroit.  And then, all phoenix like, I'll come back and fight again.

So Dutchy, you escaped my blockade which might have killed all 5000+ of your ticks... you offered a field battle next weekend?  Come attack my paltry forces and end this blockade.

You obviously missed the beauty of our Imperial anthem.  Perhaps because you never were in one of our cathedrals listening to the men and women, with their angelic voices, singing it in unity.  And yes, we could have broke out in song and dance for your song (which we have the tendency of doing) we felt that your song was more appropriate for the legionaries.

That offer is null and void now as your part of that deal was to not attack shitty villages and since your faction has attacked 2 and an unarmed Slim.

I was unaware that was part of the deal. We had talked about the pointlessness of defending villages, but I never meant we'd not attack them. And you know the rules of war- if you can't defend your lands or your people, you will lose them.  But you will be happy to know we are respecting your wish for weekend battles. All cities or castles will only be attacked on weekends. If we happen to find ourselves with an opportunity for a big field battle, I will trust you enough to agree to 'hold stll' til the weekend ie no running away, or reinforcements two days after and that sorta thing.

Sure ignore the fact that we've defended that exact army before from attackers. Kenny Fucking Powers is acting on his own, similar to Plumbo in his attacks against the Godwin faction. In a faction with actually active players, its a bit harder to organize than you by yourself since you have no friends.

There were rumours CH was a spy and Kenny Fuckin Powers acted in righteous rage.  I myself would have preferred there was more evidence against him before he was summarily executed.   Still, the law is the law, and after the war Kenny Fucking Powers will be charged with war crimes, as will any Holy chadzian Imperial member who might commit atrocities in the future (and I'm sure there will be more).  But, as I said, we'll wait til after the war as we are just too busy right now.

There is no secret to our night time setting so I cant see why you would continue to cry about them james. For the Friday and Saturday there are no settings on my personal fiefs. For weekdays you either attack before 4pm est or it will be a 12am battle, These times are still decent times for a battle. I don't mind waking up at 3am to fight a battle like the last time you attacked Durrin castle. My night time settings are actually work time settings. They wont be changing because you have a sook in the forums, so basically accept them or stop attacking and crying.  8-)

To be fair, there weren't even any active players in the squid faction when the war ended for us to ask(You were in WOTN at the time, and there was no other active guys then) for a peace treaty or whatever. Sucks that you're going to lose a 600 man army to a village though :P

Edit: There hasn't even been a battle of Stark vs Squids since February. Must be the shittiest war ever.

At this point, the issue of the battle still swung in the balance.  A debate ensued in the chadzian camp about whether it would be wise to sally forth and attempt to drive the Squids from the field, or else hold the camp until sunset as planned.

Tristan of Erzoth called for silence in his commanding voice “Our first charge nearly broke the spine of the enemy” evidently forgetting that Squids are invertebrates.  He continued “A second sally may send them reeling back into the hills!”

At this point, I made my way to where Captain Tristan was standing and touched his shoulder.

“What is it Helvetius?”

“Captain” I said “In my opinion we should wait and repulse their next attack and then immediately counter attack.”

Tristan nodded.  “Alright everyone” he announced, “Once we have driven off the squids, we shall chase them back to camp and finish this fight!”


A sharp clarion of trumpets signaled the approach of the Squids.  We drew up in battle formation and the signal was given to charge.

With a terrible crash of shields, we smashed into their left flank, hurling them back into their own camp.  Swagathor was ahead and somewhat to my right.  Seeing him hard pressed, I moved ahead and around his opponent, knocking the nefarious cephalopod to the ground, slaying him.  I spun ‘round and severed the tentacles of another assailant.

Meanwhile, Saint brought up the right and with a flurry of her pick she brought down a slew of foes and Tristan struck down Calimari.

Just as it seemed all was won, one of the enemy shat a jet of thick black ink which caught me squarely in the eyes.  I felt myself hit the ground with a thud and saw no more.

I awoke in a medical tent much later to the news that the battle had been won.

For the record, I did not actually turn people away.  But many neutrals joined what they thought was the outnumbered side, trying to make a good battle.  After the fight I got sent many apologies, including one from Dutchy who himself wanted a little more interesting fight.  Still, i myself enjoyed the battle.  i think our team did a really good job of repulsing the first few pushes despite being so outnumbered.  But once the timers slowed down it was 'spawn, get hit by three arrows, then get smacked in the face with a poleaxe and die'.

Yeah, that first battle was a doozy. Still wasn't as bad as it could have been. It wasn't dragged out excessively long either, so at least it was a quick 10 minutes or so of near-constant action til the end. Even if it had been 38 vs. 30, as the rosters showed, it would have been a great fight since as you said, you were defending a hilltop. Woulda probably been the perfect merc ratio, to be honest. Unfortunately with rollcalls being nonexistent, there isn't much you can do to prevent this sort of thing, other than drilling it into your guys' heads to be more reliable by not signing up unless they know for sure they can make it, etc.

It was a good battle, especially as someone burst out laughing on ts, sayin in disbelief that 'Bryggan killed Jona in a one on one. The rest of the TS laughed and laughed. Thanks for the comedy relief, Jona. You obviously let me kill you to keep our morale up.

But even rosters are a bitch, even though we all want them. I had, in the past, suggested we wait til half an hour before the battle to sign people up. But that idea was quickly shat upon.

Oh well, Ganka's gonna gank. And I'm sure it will go both ways.

So the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.  I am sorry I missed the battle, for I hear it was an excellent one.  Thanks to everyone who did show up; I hear you came very close to saving poor Ranulf's head.  Just a few minutes to timers, I hear.  So thanks again.
