Title: 0.250 released

if you are having trouble with the launcher, redownload the exe (it's just 150kb and it's getting updated constantly), and put it in the warband installation folder, especially when you have different versions of warband installed.

A few changes from the top of my head:
- you get 5k xp in strategus battles per 200 seconds. That is in addition to the normal, gear based XP reward.
- survivors items get put back in the stash when the match has ended, as well as horses (if they have a rider)
- you should see a timer with the remaining time until the attacker auto-retreats.

an alternative download (.zip file) is available on mbrepository. Make sure to manually launch WSE, though.

We will also distribute a zip file as before somewhere, but you will have trouble keeping up with it, as we're planning to vastly increase patch cycles now. Better get the launcher fixed :)

I've had version 1.143 for months and been playing cRPG with it this whole time.  I've heard other people getting this error with the cRPG Launcher and was wondering what the fix is.  Thanks.

Just reapply your mods after using the updater for the first time. They won't get overwritten unless a patch actually overwrites the files (or you select "Repair").

At the end of the install i get this Error. Will post in german since you understand it.

New Install does the same though. Im Admin-modus ausführen same... :/

Weird, all body looms now give head armor, all head looms give body and leg armor and all leg looms give body and head armor.

Guess this isn't intended?

If it's same thing ingame, we're gonna have guys running around with 100 body and 80-90 head armor... Must be fun!

That new 2h stab animation has some seriously fucked up recovery time, aka guy pauses after finishing the thrust.

Look at your retire page, like Deathwhisper said, all armor looms are giving head, body, and leg armor, even peasant equipment. I'm all for it, but I don't believe the differences should be so high, nor head armors giving leg points and vice versa.

Mail Mittens are less than half the price as the Gauntlets and only have 1 body armor less. Nice!
Heraldic Mail with Tabard is 2 body armor more than Tunic over Mail and does cost nearly twice the rpice of the Tunic over Mail. Nice!

Quick question. We got a strat battle at 21:43 CET and I'm a bit worried about the constant restarts of the servers with every new hotfix. It's not a big battle but slightly important, although the enemy haven't even accepted anyone yet. Just wondering if you could delay any possible reboots of the server while that, and any other strat battle with people in, is going on. Ok?

I doubt it's anything special to watch, no-ones siged up for him. But if you hack your own database and sign yourself in, we can check the "get back equipment you spawned with" thing? I can give you the list of the equipment we have before and spawn with some, then check if it's still there after the battle.

I applied for a name change last night and it shows up on the crpg website page, but in game it doesnt and im level one and all my gear is gone.  Is this due to the patch or is that what happens when you change names before level 31?

I applied for a name change last night and it shows up on the crpg website page, but in game it doesnt and im level one and all my gear is gone.  Is this due to the patch or is that what happens when you change names before level 31?

First attempt to install failed with error like mentioned on first page of this thread. Exited steam, deleted the old ver crpg file from game file then retried running new patch, it worked fine, very smooth.

Im the only person that uses Turban Helmet (actually I 3x loomed it) and now he takes away 16 head armor??????  40 to 24.  That seems unfair to focus on this one helmet that only i use.

Never mind - lot cheaper and less weight - perfect for strat crafting

I noticed that all loomed bows are less accurate than the unloomed ones.

All wm-bows get 3+damage, but only 2+accuracy...
(it should be 3+accuracy, because each damage point decreases the accuracy by 1)

Please fix this.

That I can understand however giving people loom points back depending on their gen shouldn't harm much the market place and anyways I don't care much for the gold I just want the loom points I spend to be spent wise not risking on having a pos in the future thanks to the nerfs.

Not implying it's chadz fault because he has to do a lot of stuff specially strategus and that other mode (stronghold?) but stats on items/weapons is the most important thing in the game and if we can loom items people need to know they are safe in case it gets nerfed heavily as leveling to 31 is very boring.

I'd think chumps might have learned something from Minecraft devs about how hard work and ambition pays off..but apparently not.  People WILL pay for well done niche games.  We all know you cant and wont ever charge, because then we'd hold you to standards you're not capable of meeting

And btw, plenty of free mods are actually professional and common sense enough to document their mods.  Just because its free doesnt excuse you from basic coding/design rules, just shows everyone you are lazy and/or incompetent

I don't understand. My +3 bodkin shows this now:
Masterwork Bodkin Arrows
weapon length: 91
weight: 3

max ammo: 17
thrust damage: 0 pierce
slots: 1

No change over the baseline in terms of pierce? What are we supposed to do with these arrows then? It does not make any sense here. Is there a problem? Or you really meant 0 pierce for all loomed bodkins?

Whats the point for 9.5weight 38 body 12 leg  3.5k price and 12.5 weight 40 body 12 leg to be 6k? Explain pls..

There is only +2 body and u pay almost double, weight goes up by 3, so wth?!  :shock:

I was playing around with a damage calculator and losing 3 armor will cause you to take 1 or 2 more damage depending on how high your total armor is.  You'll be fine.

Nice patch overall, was a bit worried about the new 2h stab but it seems an improvement and easy enough to get used to.

Did you remove the old cRPG folder before using the launcher, Lizard_man ? At least that did it for me.

But you only get +3 body armor from it. I get +3 from my Gauntlets that's +1 diff for 1.5k price...

hmm....i think prices should be dropped on hand armor. for each step up in hand armor you pay approximately 1.1-1.3k more.

I also don't want Cash I want bloody looms. Some of my looms are rare as crap and I could not simply buy them from the market.

well we had a battle where we looted stuff also and there was a much more real return now than pre-patch.
ah just remember 1 thing again, i think we picked some few 1-3 crafted heirlooms up in battle, but i don't see them in stash.

All in all, good patch. Would be even better if you keep zero value for bodkins loomed or not.

New stab is great, I love it. Animation looks really good and smooth.

I would like to suggest that you completely remove stat bonuses from loomed gear when Final Boss finish his textures for loomed items.

Remove grind from the mod completely ;)

I'm gen 13 and I have 5x3+1=16 loom points. I've also lost MW item which means I had 19 loom points. I've never scammed anyone but I did play 4-5 gens in peasant gear (which only helped me to become a better player).

Also loom points can't be reset because at one point chadz decided to divide the number of loom points of veteran players by 3 because pre upkeep patch it was too easy to retire.

Dividing gens by 3 to calculate the number of loom points again would be unfair to most people.

Hmmm, maybe you found a bug? Like how when you sell loomed equipment to the bank in strat you don't get anything. Or, you get 20% of the heirloomed weapon, which is set as 0, so 20% of 0 gold.

There is a respec option for that. You will lose 50% of your XP tho which is pretty lame. That's why I suggested to remove that and add countdown timer instead.

I just tested, it doesn't. Unless:
- it's the first time you are running it
- you are running an old version of the launcher (the one that chadz posted a few days ago)
- you are deleting filelist.txt
- the patch changes those files (not the case)

I don't like this attitude. What the devs are doing here is their freetime and not paid professional work (as in professional work that gets paid, I don't say chadz' coding etc. is not professional).
But still I need to forward this because it shows some issues I have with your work, devs:
You need to stay in contact with the community, it's crucial! Hey, if you don't have the frickin time or nerve for it, then HIRE someone! there are some admins whom you can trust that do that already, trying to communicate things, but you only put obstacles in their way. Take them as 'official cRPG publisher' whatever, this whole undirected rage-thing will work out much better, for the positive I guess! Just make sure it's transparent or at least has a goddamn changelog ... !

See, I was actually thinking about raging about the loadingscreen just now, I think you forget to put it in - but heck, the whole thing is a mess, none knows what you're doing! Fuck the loadingscreen, I mean the balancing back an forth, and so on. Seriously, I'm afraid you actually HAVE "no ******* idea" of game mechanics ... did you EVER considered answering to what I wrote in the 'Game Balance Discussion' corner? that long-as-shit so-called "Open letter to the devs" (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,19564.15.html)?

And now to make sure you all understood: this is not about my person, my long work on loadingscreens, texting as hell, etc. - it's about COMMUNICATION. If game developers don't even care about explaining, we can all go and play with dices again. I fucking know what I am talking about, I want to make games one day, and THIS is a nice and easy way to lose even hard boiled players.
Just try and explain the ways you go with that, don't always surprise us. If I'd have known that you don't want realism, I wouldn't have written that damn letter. And I'm not the only one being frustrated here.

go into admin turn off your fire wall and antivirus for fifteen minutes, attempt to run it and it will deny you, go to view downloads, then actions then runanyway, you can do the same thing for save which is what you need to do, took me a fucking hour to figure this shit out lol

Just played for 5 mins and remembered why I've been avoiding crpg for the past month. Maybe it's just because I'm tired, or because I haven't got 4 HA yet on this gen, but riding a horse/attempting to shoot stuff, made me feel drunk. My ping is to bad during the day to play (virgin media grr). But anyway, will hopefully give it a try tomorrow when I'm back from work and see if I can find anything to complain about   :wink:

This patch is pretty decent but I feel that a couple minor changes should be made,

Gloves should be cheaper, my gloves cost me 625 to repair (30% mor than my armor costs) which was ok when they gave me 16 amor, but now only 12....needs to be a little cheaper to be worth it, or not have the base -2, even base -1 would be better.

 Heraldic Mail with Surcoat gives the same body armor as the Tunic over Mails but weighs 3 more...A very slight adjustment would make this better.  Either making the Tunic over Mails less or Mail with Surcoat more, doesnt matter to me, just shouldn't be the same. 

As always, thanks for making such a l33t Mod,  been with you since the day you launched it and have enjoyed every minute of it

anyway the launcher works like a charm.

and i suggest players to use the standard taleworlds warband client instead that crappy steam mess. also i constantly hear a lot of people gets CTDs with steam version while i never had a crash with the standard client.

wow, just noticed the extreme long "lock" after 2h stab that not hits. If you miss a thrust (combined with shorter reach very often) you can't block for like 3 secs and are pretty much fucked. Hard, but good compensation for the quick stab, which is really good, polearms and 1h can no longer easily outthrust you. overall I like it, can still kill bad timed cav with it.

ah, of course no more spinthrust into ground and up again is great.

good job at that.

mh, maybe nothing changed, I'm no longer sure. But if you thrust and wait till you're at longest reach you can't block for a time, and that time seemed to me longer than the patches before.

I just feel so cheated, because anytime I achieve something it gets nerfed into the ground.

When I was shielder with a +1 Long Espada, Long Espada got nerfed and Upkeep introduced, rendering it useless for me because I couldnt pay the upkeep all the time.

And now, when I hop on the train and save up tons of cash to buy +1 mail gauntlets and the ngrind my Ass off for several weeks to retire again and FINALLY got them to +2, Gauntlets get nerfed into the ground aswell.My +2 mail Gauntlets are now merely better than they were unloomed prepatch...

If you nerf the normal Spear now I will kill myself.

Did 2h´s get a speed buff with animation or something?I had no problem fighting 2h´s before but otday I go on siege and get raped by all of them because they are feinting and hittin g so fast I cant even see it lol.

Patch seems to be fine but Heraldic mail compared to these Red/Green/Blue/Yellow/White Tunic over mail is not realistic.
So they basically (looked at armor stats and model) are the same but this Heraldic mail has 2.0 more weight and 1k more cost. Okay it did cost make own banner fit in that armor but still 1k is  a bit too much if you ask me.. Weight is the thing that needs to be changed, it should have at least close same weight as these tunics,because there is no way banner can weight 2.0, unless its made from some sort of metal and it rly doesnt look like metal, for example compare Nomad boots and Rus Splinted Greaves.  SO the thing I want is reduce the weight of Heraldic mail atleast 1.5.

PS These tunics seem to have same piece of cloth aswell. (color)

Lordly Colored Tunic over mail + lordly mail gauntlets is 53 Body armor for 10,5 weight and about 7k

So idiotic.

I'd like to see less gameplay changes (and equipment changes) and more work fixing whats broken...especially in regards to strategus.

hopefully the defenders no longer lose all the equipment they are holding at the end of a battle.  the fief transferring ownership needs to be addressed as well.  Having people attack their own village to transfer a fief is game breaking.  It gives owners a legit reason to attack their own village.  And if they do it right before an enemy army is able to, it gives them another full day to start marching reinforcements in. 

Also I'm curious if you have a test environment set up to test these patches before you release them?  That seems like it would be pretty common sense and the first priority over everything else you're working on...I'm pretty sure you'd also have endless supply of end-users willing to help you test it out before you release patches.

The developers already tried making pikes unable to block, horsebumps wounding the rider and now making the pike a 3 slot weapon, which increases your dependancy on other teammates from 75% to  about 95%. In a game with such a high retard percentage being dependent on others is the last thing you wanna do. Well, at least you can't say "buy a pike" any more when someone rages about cavalry again.  :?

So it would perfectly fit into my picture of the developers if they really changed ladders to work this way. Instead of making them indestructible for "their" team, for example, which would actually be an improvement.

All I say is this: you already made so many weird, unlogical changes (and took them back, again), that I wouldn't be surprised if you really changed ladders to make ranged fighters walk faster and everyone else slower.

Must agree with you. I can count on 2 hands the people who do not troll and use tired internet memes. The wannabe funnies (kids, drunks, or drunk kids) seemed to have increased tenfold once crpg forums moved out of taleworlds. Guess it was the Taleworlds TOS keeping people in line.


Has anyone figured out the sweet spot armour amount where it becomes more effective for a (horse) archer to use bodkins? I am guessing 30 armour, which means using cutting arrows limits you to shooting other archers.

Releasing a real changelog would also help finding bugs, as the players know what's intended and what not. Next to the simple fact that it would be a sign of kindness to do so. Especially, as you (should?) use some kind of to-do list, some calculations and perhaps some discussion threads in the developers forum, it should not be a big deal to put all item stat changes into one list.

A nice theory but instead what we have is half the time people complain bitterly about some change that wasn't actually changed.

So we aren't saving any whining.  You're just replacing whining about problems in the patch notes with whining about perceived issues because there were no patch notes (and then whining about the lack of patch notes).

I don't think it's part of a plan so much as just the fact that he doesn't type it up as he goes along and later can't remember everything he changed and then forgets to post what he does remember.  :-p

is there a hurry to exit from beta stage? it is better to make it live now by fixing only the actual bugs or it is better to continue to expand it, fix, expand till the community says "ok we cannot think any other things to add/improve. debug and live"?.

i don't get it.. there is a hurry for? the gameplay mechanics are somewhat balanced, strategus is up with all the crafting/trading stuff we talked about months ago, the heirloom market is up and running, account system rewritten, stronghold mode WIP, CTF also.

the mod is all but dead. there is people like me that after 18 months playing this game mod, need a break every now and then but that doesn't mean crpg is gone. 3000 unique serials per day almost match the total arma2, non-source counterstrike, TF2 players.

Skyrim turned out to be a 12 years old kid's console game, people heard about the new patch and came back.

crpg is improving. i like how it is now, but if could get even better why complain?

Most big project mods are always in beta that's the thing. There's no point calling a mod beta, because usually the only time it ever gets finished is when the devs cba to  work on it any more, or the player base has shrunk so small there's simply no point so it never actually truly leaves beta. Beta is a pretty useless term to band around when it comes to mods. A mod is usually a constant work in progress that needs constant testing, pretty much always in beta therefore. There's rarely a finishing point.

I like to reserve the beta term to proper, full release games. A mod is a mod and has it's own definition.

Not really...mods are a completely different concept to game releases, and various software releases. I just think beta is a pointless term for big project mods because I can count on one hand the number of mods I've ever heard reach a release out of 'beta', and not just pretending to be out of beta. Not to say crpg won't be one of them, there's every possibility. But it's rare. Beta in the modding community is just a way to blindside the community into accepting unpopular changes and putting them down as the fact a mod is a work in progress. Just by the way mods are developed, they are usually a constant work in progress.

Anyway, just an opinion. You can say it's the definition of software release life cycle or whatever. But you can't excuse changes that people don't like, or just mistakes in the releases, by it being a 'beta'. Mods like this are always a work in progress, and it probably always will be seeing as this community never stops whining about some form of balance and I'm sure more idea's for new features and cool things will always crop up along the way. I'm not even saying it's a bad thing, the dedication the devs put into this is fantastic and I'd like to see it constantly being worked on until you guys do eventually get tired of it in your old age.

will probably be fixed with the patch. chadz lazy tho. but feel free to put your archery stuff on the market for chicken feed in the meantime.

also, part of item "changelog":

- removed shield use with regular awlpike, weight increase for awlpike(also -1 speed) and long awlpike
- ashwood pike can be used with a shield now, new model(weight decreased, +1 speed)

will probably be fixed with the patch. chadz lazy tho. but feel free to put your archery stuff on the market for chicken feed in the meantime.

Paul. I know your trying to smooth talk me.. and i appreciate it and all. But you must come to this conclusion eventually hopefully - The patches dont fix anything.... they only scramble things around and recycle bugs.

And for the market... i try not to use it. I think it is one of the dumbest and most gamebreaking thing that the devs could have invented, together with the zero upkeep below 25 patch.

And what exacly will be fixed? the heirlooms? or newbie archers that cant do shit for damage, until they get there stuff heirloomed, and a miracle patch ?

At least all armors got nerfed this patch, im suprised. Only took you devs 1 year of community feedback, to figure this one out! here's a cookie!

I would also like to see the devs taking the community more seriously. I don't say you have to be dead serious all the time, but a little bit "kindness by notice" would be sweet.

Some time ago there was a thread about implementing some kind of community manager who keeps the developers connected with the community and vice versa. I don't see anything of it.  :?

Yeah, but i think nobody realy uses them. Steel bolts are perfectly affordable to new players too. I dont see why people would pick them over using steel bolts for 2K of gold extra

But yeah, i dont understand why the devs made the dicision to simply fuck every archer and xbower over. I quess msot of the devs are polearm users.. so they can easly beat everything with there stunlocks, broken animations, and buffed to shit weapons. Except for ranged... that is a problem, when your only used to spamming.

it makes perfect sense too me now.

I mean alts being able to trade in the same market or at least being able for players to trade between their different characters?
I got a gen6 alt (dont judge me too hard) and I went to my new main before there was a market (if I recall correctly); I wanted to use melee char for strat.

I honestly see no reaso why we couldn't trade between characters since one serial code can be used on only one computer at once so there can be no cheating or similar.

If you devs think that's stupid or impossible or whatever, I would appreciate a decent reason.

There's a solution for the angry pikers, carry a round steel buckler and a nice one handed weapon or if you don't want to put WPF in one hand, go with a shortened spear or military fork.

yeah for lazy asses that don't want to clean their mess up everytime (with like Combofix, CCleaner, GMER, manual registry edit)

there is Avira Free. work wonders. i set it up by default on every customer's pc. or Windows Essentials Security Package.

Avast and AVG are heavy as trucks, norton too. NOD32 and Avira are really light euristic based antiviruses... never had issues. while AVG did a disaster 2 years ago by deleting a false positive windows core dll.

kaspersky is not bad too... but anyway with a modem-router with integrated firewall, you really don't need any antiviruses unless you surf warez/pr0n sites... but there is ubuntu for that  :mrgreen:

I think Bonze was trying to say that basically the launcher does absolutely nothing except emulating a human doing the usual download-unzip-copy-paste modding. You don't need the launcher at all. Which means you are better not using it.

The WSE launcher is a separate program. It is the only third party exe you need to run in order to play cRPG.

It's downloadable without the help of the launcher.
