Releasing a real changelog would also help finding bugs, as the players know what's intended and what not. Next to the simple fact that it would be a sign of kindness to do so. Especially, as you (should?) use some kind of to-do list, some calculations and perhaps some discussion threads in the developers forum, it should not be a big deal to put all item stat changes into one list.
actually IMO, the reason devs don't release gamebalance changelog, is to avoid unnecessary whine and complaints about nerfs/boosts. for instance, if the player don't notice the difference of a very slightly animation speed nerf/change, means there is no reason to cry loud about it. The bad habit to "cry before try" can so be bypassed.
Can not be applied to visible item stats tho.. since they're clearly written. example, i knew about the heirloom armor bonus nerf by looking at the item stats... while i could have not noticed a 6 points decrease over my usual gear... i know it's changed by the item stats, but i could have not noticed that so easly by trying it.
