Clonk
fully destructible terrain (and not on "block" terrain), fun as hell multiplayer (up to 4 players on 1 tastatur, online possible, too), thousands of mods. It had everything, spent way too much time on that game. Everytime I see that Terraria stuff I have to think about good old Clonk, beeing way more awesome and way less weaboo.

(even a freeware version avaible now: http://www.clonk.de/ce.php?lng=en )
Clonk is the shiiiiiiit! (In a good way)

Zoo Tycoon 1

I know it's pretty mainstream, and not very oldschool, but I had the fucking time of my life on that game.
Especially when I fed my visitors to various sea creatures and dinosaurs.

Heretic II

Never played Heretic I, I liked the freerunning aspect in this better.

Heretic II was indeed awesome. The fluent and elegant staff fighting was so addicting.

King of Dragon Pass. Don't know it? Shame on you. See pictures in spoiler.

I don't know it, but I will get it and try it out immediately. Looks awesome.
I mean, what have you got to lose? You know, you come from nothing, you're going back to nothing, what have you lost? Nothing!

Heretic > Heretic II
Well the gameplay is very different, so you can't compare them.

Jagged Alliance 2

I know it isn't that old, it already has SVGA graphics, but nontheless it's a pure CLASSIC, and none of the many JA3's could reach its quality! A relatively new patch was released, putting it on version 1.13. Try it out!

SU-27 FLANKER

?? Noone tried this? The first hardcore flight sim i played for ages. And my first meeting with a trolling internet community. It's (was?) quite realistic, with detailed instruments, you could set up complex battles with battleships and air defence, and it has all the late cold war classic planes from SSSR.

Try combining JA 1.13 with JA Wildfire! It's amazing!

You said it all guys, Doom, Worms 2D, Prince of Persia, Nemesis/Gradius, Keen, awesome games.

Outcast, what a beauty
(click to show/hide)
Fun fact, I'm taught at my school by the developers and creators of Appeal, AKA developers of Outcast, I was pretty amazed when I found out about it. Too bad we'll probably never see outcast 2, got to stick with CryENGINE's version...

bunch of loosers for not mentioning:

Golden Axe (amiga)

and

Warhammer Dark Omen
Yes, I know from whence I came! Discontented as a flame, Upon myself I live and glow. All I grasp like lightning flashes, All I leave behind is ashes
Flame I am - that much I know!
