The Crusaders of Acre declare war on the satanist Frisians

Whoopsie appeared again to deliver James another communication. "Sir a message has arrived from a Raven player, it appears he cannot speak for himself but only quote previous conversations". "A strange affliction indeed, perhaps he is some kind of half-wit" replied James.

Upon reading the masterful quoting of the Ravens James established nothing new or valuable had been added and burned the letter. He would have to hire a chimney sweep as the grime from burning thousands of shit letters was starting to build on the chimney.

James gave Whoopsie a letter to have swiftly posted to Raven.

Oh Quotemaster Relit of Raven,
I am ever so sorry that your faction's backyard constitutes the entire map. I couldn't imagine a more see through plan to fabricate claims. You disgust me. You could retain a shred of honor if you take the way of the dishonored japanese knights from far away. I believe the term is called Seppuku.

It takes time to type up RP posts and I am at work doing the normal firing people thing.

"Chieftain, the Crusaders seem to be unaware that we are even at war with them! They are completely surprised by our sudden appearance." Relit the Old said softly, as he marched along side.

The Chieftain trudged along in the snow, marching with his warband north.

"How can this be so? Did they not know we have been at war the very moment that they attacked the Frisians? We had a publicly known defense pact leftover from the Fimbulvetr days!"

Relit replied, "It seems they did not know, Chieftain."

"These crusaders are more like petty merchants, they purchase a castle and villages from their betters, then sit and do nothing but complain. They did not earn these lands with blood or iron. So let us take from these weaklings the price these lands demand. Perhaps when it is done, they will have earned the wisdom to not attack those whom we have treaties with."

We had a publicly known defense pact leftover from the Fimbulvetr days

James chuckled at the raven lies. They were attempting to say a declaration of war was made when all that was threatened was "consequences". They claimed that their defense pact was known to the realm. Truly a jest of epic proportions. It struck James that often the dogs with the loudest bark have a weak bite. It was evident that many of the older established factions feared the rise of Acre.

James gathered his men in the courtyard for a faction council. "Crusaders of Acre, a faction of treacherous knaves claims that it is their right to attack us for purchasing a castle they had falsified claims upon" James commenced. "Let not their falsehoods dismay you brothers for we are the sword of the light in the darkness" James continued. "We can not and will not respect factions acting outside of the proper Noble behaviours, as is their choice they must be labelled as lawless bandits, every frisian or raven head brought to my doorstep shall be tarred pissed on and mounted on the battlements" James finished.

A chorus of agreement and hear hear's filled the courtyard. The council conversation drifted towards tactics and strategy, the opinions of all Acre crusaders weighed and analyzed by Good King Reinhardt and his faithful Lords. Upon finishing discussions of important strategic matters the council was moved to the New Yruma Crusader Pub where many an ale were consumed discussing the coming opportunities to mutilate ravens, draculs and frisians.

James was content in knowing that no matter the outcome of the war should the frisians and raven scum lay slain on the battlefield or should he be slain and his lands taken he would continue his mission for he was a soldier of the lord and no heretics or heathens could keep him from his quest.

I am not twisting your words and read all of your post sir, consequences could literally mean anything. Let me just post a super vague post in diplomacy and then I shall change what it means to suit me later! Please I have made reference to Seppuku several times. You can retain honor in the afterlife if you take your own life quickly. If you need help maybe one of the more respectable members of your faction can help you. find a cliff.

The dissolution of Fimbulvetr did not end our agreements immediately. Acre or anybody could have gone to Dracul/Frisia/Raven and simply asked about any dealings with each other and they would have been told the details. Thats pretty public. Acre at no point contacted any of us about anything before just randomly attacking Frisia.

As for the justifications for attacking Acre: Our ally Dracul is attacking them and they violated our defense pact with Frisia. (Even if Frisia didnt call us to help during that time period does not erase the debt)

??  With nothing formal saying their is a defensive alliance agreement or something similar, when I see a faction/alliance dissolve into separate factions (aka fimbrulvetyr, velucan empire, etc.), my first thought isn't "I wonder if they still have an alliance" - i usually try to stay on top of various alliances and wars and I had absolutely no fucking clue frisians had a defensive alliance still in place with ravens, so I can completely understand a new faction to strategus not knowing this.  You didn't exactly break up on the friendliest of terms, something similar to what happened to VE - ad no one thought (thought correctly) those guys were allied afterwards either.  A formal alliance with dracul was mentioned when you broke up but nothing about frisian defensive agreement.

To be fair - dracul declared war on acre and you are helping your allies - very valid reason for war and I wish you the best of luck and hope for some fun xp-filled battles - don't see any need to post any conveluted and elaborate reasoning related to frisians who you are no longer allies with as of our peace agreement with you.  Draculs declare war - you are allies - end of roleplay no need to insult back and forth with each other (hell i would probably be insulting too if someone tried to say their alliance which ended 3 months ago with frisians required them to attack us now when frisians asked you to stay out of it 3 months ago and acre never attacked again).

Just keep it civil on both sides - dracul and ravens are allies fighting acre. END of story.

Just to play devil's advocate here (not saying one side is right or wrong with their analysis), why does an alliance, or defense pact, or any other agreement need to be public knowledge?

Couldn't it just be a situation of "you fucked with the wrong faction who has big brothers you didn't know existed"?

Usually you should consider the possible consequences of war before you declare it.  Haven't you guys ever played EU3?  Declare war on a tiny faction and before you know it an alliance brings in Bohemia and Austria against you.

Either way, they are slimpickings, a new faction that got on the wrong side of a large war thanks to FCC calling their shots. Not gonna bat an eyelash over them getting wiped.
