I think GTA4 did many things right, it just didn't have the amount of content, especially when you compare it to San Andreas. The physics (euphoria!), driving, as well as most of the story-telling are a big improvement IMO. Although I can understand, if someone prefers the less serious and more humorous story of SA. Also, the story of 4 quickly became too detached from the player character after the first two islands. After that, most missions were just about the money and that special person he was after. It felt more like playing a random contract killer in other people's stories. Didn't like that so much. I'm not really that hyped either, but if GTA5 manages to combine the technology of GTA4 with the size and variety of SA, it should become the best GTA yet.
