Hype has been gotten.
I am just going to assume these people are on Rockstar's payroll, because if this goes as journalism these days the end is nigh. Like fucking 4 year olds after getting some ice cream.

No games can impress you. You must hate games to talk about them.

OK.

It was a first impressions talk/preview. They talked about the cool things they saw.

"The game is using the Skyrim model where you do something in order to improve your skill."

...

Are you fucking kidding me? Countless of RPG's have been using the "Skyrim" model where you increase your abilities, skills, proficiency, whatevers by doing them.

When you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back.

Please, no Tamagochi minigame like in San-Andreas.
Especially not skill leveling.

Just.. no.

Well, as long as it doesn't include your combat abilities, it's okay.

The only remaining independent journalism in video games can be found on blogs and youtube accounts. Even the biggest ones still don't seem to realise how much the trust of their viewers is worth, or simply want to stay honest because they can.

Also it's funny for them to say "The Skyrim Model" like it is a thing not all TES did. Hell, plenty of other games did that I'm quite sure.

That irked me too, but I understand why it was said. You reference something recent and popular so more people will understand the comparison.

Forbes.com has a pretty solid video game area.

Isn't it because most articles are written by a large number of independant contributors ?

I actually liked that because it makes some sense (the way you're upgrading those abilities). This time they will add six or seven skill bars which you'll upgrade by playing (TES style) and specials like bullet time. Basically, GTAV will be the child of previous games in the series and Max Payne. I'm not sure I dig that.

I'm not old enough to know which game had that kind of leveling system before Elder Scrolls series, and Skyrim is the best known reference (currently the most popular game in the series). That is way they are saying The Skyrim Model and not Morrowind or TES model or whatever. I see nothing wrong with that.
