I see very little improvement over vanilla GTA 4. And if we want to get really mean, even early versions of icenhancer do way better than this.

This is running on a device which is similar to latest generation of smartphones in terms of compute power. Considering that fact, it's beyond impressive looking. And you're wrong about Icehanced GTA, lightning is similar to best versions of Icehancer but textures are much more detailed.

If you don't believe me, ask Hayssam Keilany about it. I'm sure he will confirm that GTAV is superior to any modded version of GTAIV (which is expected).

The question is, if and when it comes out for PC, how well will it be optimized for this platform? If the past is any indication, the answer will be "pretty badly". The top quality probably won't look much better than on consoles.
Don't.

That depends. If X360 version comes to PC as a port there is a chance that it will be badly optimized. But GTAIV is pretty old version of RAGE engine. Newest is Max Payne 3 and we all know how well it runs on PC.

There's also a chance that GTAV will come out on next gen consoles, with somewhat improved graphics. If that happens I think that PC will get that version. It should be optimized because next gen consoles are pretty similar to PC.

The top quality probably won't look much better than on consoles.

Imho, it looks much better. Especially foliage rendering. Higher resolution textures of everything, better particle effects (richer), much better looking trees.

Couldn't find a reference of this :? very interesting considering the high detail render distance appears to be huge (see the road on the screen with the plane)

And you're wrong about Icehanced GTA, lightning is similar to best versions of Icehancer but textures are much more detailed.

Lightning does look pretty good in those screens, but hell the reflections on the black sportscar.

I figured it was just meant to be a matte finish.
Don't.

That is possible actually, but then how do you explain the horror on the side of the lowrider with the gangsta shooting ?

I'm going to expect GTA V on PC being a hard console port, with control delay and horrible performance, just like it's predecessor

I still got nightmares about this part, whenever I see a helicopter.

Broken, total keyboard/finger killer.

I personally got nightmares about the other end mission. Because piloting helicopters in GTA 4 is fucking hard. They behave like veeery slow pendulums, making tight turns is physically impossible because if you manage to pull it off, you'll automatically crash by oversteering after the turn.

Also I personally find GTA 4 to have pretty good performance, even with the enb mod I was talking about. The result is one of the most gorgious games I can run at playable framerates.

Odd, I had no problem with helicopter handling.

But.. that button-mashing sequence was so unnecessary on the PC! Especially because it got bugged for many people and you had to mash the button with light-speed pretty much.

It should've been a short cutscene instead.

GTA IV was way better on PS3 than on my gaming PC.  Performance was terrible on the PC, it was clearly optimized for consoles.  Hopefully that won't be the case with GTA V, but I likely won't wait for it to come out on PC and will get it for PS3.  So don't expect to see me much in cRPG at the end Sept
