A couple of launch pains here and there, but nothing so bad as Forumfall would make it sound.

Really enjoying this.  More so than starting out in the first one.

Skyrims combat imo is pretty darn good, when its singleplayer. I dont think id enjoy the clusterfuck that comes out of multi....

Imagine Skyrim + Strat (only better), that's what Darkfall's multiplayer is about. It's all about getting personal, getting resources, claiming territory, building shit and meaningful PvP.

Here's a short description on how it works: http://www.darkfallonline.com/manual/clan-holdings

One guy who wrote a review for Warband in Gamespot said that he and his friend started ending their MMO suscriptions, filling the box with words "its not as good as M&B" after playin Warband. Its rather true. Personally I do feel that the fluid combat of Warbands multiplayer has acctually left me wishing for something more from all other multiplayer games...Unfortunately nothing has yet even come close to it.

Skyrims combat imo is pretty darn good, when its singleplayer. I dont think id enjoy the clusterfuck that comes out of multi....

I agree, after Warband came out, it pretty much killed the MMORPG genre for me, and many others as well.
TAB-target hotbar faceroll combat just wasn't alright anymore.

M&B is like a curse in that regard, good and bad simultaneously.

Yeah they are, but cash shop would do major harm to a highly competitive game such as Darkfall. It would be reasonable if the game itself was free with a free limited trial and a sub to continue playing.

One off purchase with cosmetic cash shop seems the best business model for MMO's to me. Seeing as so much of theses games is about your character people will pay for a stupid pointy helmet with extra colours, or painting of themselves to put in their house.

Yeah, something like Valve's model is the best I've experienced so far.

If you're refering to DOTA2, that is not an MMO, so you can't compare. I've yet to see an MMO with a cash shop that offered exclusively cosmetic stuff.

darkfall is not like other mmos, alot of the gameplay would be damaged if you could make multiple characters so not sure if it could go f2p without ruining it.

Haha, guess you went with Skirmisher role then? :)

Going with Elementalist myself. The nerds from my guild already managed to capture a city.

Man some of the last posts in this thread just scream "I have never played a full loot mmo".

Darkfall is a niche style of MMO.  Many are glad to fork over money for it because there are hardly any out there like it.

It caters to a different type of gamer that enjoys risk over a company just trying making everybody happy.

I guess what I am trying to say is:

(click to show/hide)

I just feel sorry for those that would most likely enjoy this game and are not playing nowish.  This is the golden age of the game.  Launch is where you will have the most fun.  Starting with a new character later on will be harder later on seeing that everyone is pretty much equal right now.

You forgot "GSO"

I liked DF1 but don't feel like grinding anymore.

also how is the new interface, do you still need to use autoIT to do stuff like bind multiple functions to a key?

people are 'glad to fork over money for it because there are hardly any out there like it' doesn't mean its a good business model, it means their are profiteering out of a monopoly. Still i suppose them Greeks need the money more than most developers.

The genre itself doesn't appeal to me, MMO's always tire me, but this game by far seems the best of the genre at large.

The mentalities I can compare,

The genres, I cannot.
