So what do people think of the new combat system / character movement? I can't compare to DF1's but I'm seeing a lot of complaints about it:

Yeah I saw that thread, it was very well summed up and I agree with it even though I never touched DF1. Also big up to Tasos to post there. I also noticed some of the suggestions already in the patch notes, which says a lot. If this goes the way it has been going so far, it's going to be just fine 8-)

crpg is a perfect example that crosshair wobble does work if the game is balanced around it. im glad AV are trying to balance it instead of listening to most of the forumfall idiots who want it completely removed.

DF1 was more like a quake type game in terms of movement, rather than modern more realistic style. DF2.0 just has a bit of momentum in movement, stamina takes a more important role in combat and theres a system that encourages you to stop moving to shoot. I haven't really had a chance to test it all yet but I always wanted DF to move a bit away from pure quake style combat and movement. Once the current big issues are sorted i'll see how I like it

Just to give an example of the sort of movement you got in DF1.0:

In 2.0 I think it will be a bit slower and more methodical, but its nowhere near like a realism game. Doubt it will be hugely different to 1.0

yeah the whole game feels very laggy, all the movement seem like you're carrying a ton of weight, hope they fix that (and the melee)

Even though it doesn't look great right know I've pretty confident AV is getting their shit together just from the communication they have been showing which is any old DF players know is a HUGE step up.

They're are basically blaming a lot of gameplay problems, like the sluggishnes/clunkiness aka character "momentum" on debug mode being on. But I'm having my doubts it's just the debug mode causing this much, I'm thinking they're just using it as an excuse.
