what do you guys think a about a hypothetical mode where:

  • nothing respawns when you kill it
  • there is no retrieval of souls

cause I was thinking about it at work, and reckon it would make the game alot less repetitive/grindy. but the fact that you always perma lose souls on death, and that you cannot power-level from respawning enemies would still keep the game hard (reasonably).

like I died 30 times to sif, then power levelled a respawning mob, came back and it was piss easy. the soul values may have to be readjusted I suppose.

I praise the current system for being different, but I dont like it. Its not the loss, I like that part alot! alot of my fav games are full loot/permadeath. Its just the killing the same monsters, walking through same areas over and over that I can't stand.

oh yeah and I guess this is a PVE mode, whatever couldn't give 2 shits about pvp in a game like this.

Respawn is there for people who like to grind. Without respawn grind would be impossible and game a lot harder than it is.

If you want a true challenge, try SL1 mode.

wierd.

I raped skinny and fatty alone, on maybe 3rd attempt without using any guides/help. I previously killed fatty then skinny seemed to become way too hard, so I went skinny then fatty and wasn't a too much challenge. was one of the easiest for me, can run behind a pillar and heal at any time.

also summoning for bosses seems more like cheating than backing up saves to me  :D

The bosses do scale with your level, to a certain extent, Banok. It's painfully obvious as soon as you attempt a SL 1 run.

summoning someone to help in a fight makes the bosses harder too, more hp and stuffs.
