game is growing on me hugely. I just don't get why they intentionally make it so much harder for people first playing/not using guides. like hiding the bonfire in sen's fortress, etc.

game is very easy with walkthrough but i'd rather just have an easier setting and have the enjoyment of exploring. thats why game is more fun with save cheat, but I doubt I would need it at all on a 2nd playthrough.

anyway quelaag's sister is hotter, but I killed them both ;p

this is my char (stone armour & havels ring FTW)

I think the reason why things are hidden is to reward exploration, can be difficult to survive long though to explore everything when on the first playthrough but when you actually find something oh boy is it a great feeling. Especially when you find that bonfire after walking around with 0 estus n stuff, its such a relief.

don't think you understand me. I too love the reward for exploration, which is why i'd rather not use walkthrough. so hiding additional extras is awesome, but hiding bonfires makes the game super fustrating without walkthrough. its not the only example of them making it much harder on your first playthrough either.

anyway I just found out I got anal'd for killing ornstien first, I could have had a free dragonslayer spear (cause I found a lightning spear) which I think is one of the best.

seems to me hoplite is the easiest class in darksouls.

It's quite true in very few cases the things you are supposed to find by yourself through "exploration" are impossible to find without some kind of help. A bonfire behind a not-so-obvious illusory wall ? One that requires you to jump off a ledge ?

The only bonfire I think is a bit too hidden is the one in Sens fortress, dont think there are any others that i had trouble finding...

What, the spot before Sen's bonfire didn't look like this for you?

Bonfire ahead
Hope ahead
Here!
Imminent bonfire
Here!
Here!

Same goes for all hidden walls. There's always at least a "here!" sign.

I didn't know or use the bonfire in Sen's until the second time I played. I think that's part of the charm of the game, the exploration of new areas but the need for them to be done cautiously and being slightly on edge while doing so because of the consequences. Although yes, running all the way back to Ornstein and Smough a dozen times did get kind of obnoxious after a while, that and one other boss were two instances that made me take a break for about a month.
And how!
