Zlisch is right with a thing. As Archer you simply do not shoot into a melee fight IF the fight takes place on the other side of the map. You cannot hit that far away unless you are named DaveUKR or Sir_Agor. This is not native!

While the Archer is close to the fight, he should indeed shoot into melee. What else should he do? People would complain if the Archer would just pass by and ignore the fight.
The infantry has to adapt to it and let teamplay happen. Use your "s"key, you're no damn hero. Don't jump all the time, don't try to kill the enemy alone. It is a battle server, therefore being a hero is the biggest bullshit ever. Kills are useless as well, there is no reward for those.
But there is reward for successful teamplay, winning the round gives you a multiplier. A won "duel" on a battle server not.

That's the same with cavalry. Damnit, as lancer you dont charge into 2 infantries when they are fighting. Especially not with a couched lance. That's usually death for the friendly infantry... happens so often.

Obv, 'cause we know you will be spending your next minute reloading, while archers just litter the place with arrows till' thr map looks like some sort of hedgehog mutation! I feel you, zlisch, allthough there's really nothing to do about it, archers will risk TH's and i'm ok with that but we've got some archers who really don't watch where they shoot, I once got 3 TH's in a row by an archer(!), and that was because he was all horny for the kill.
I loot corpses of their golden teeth.
But he'll be around somewhere between Heaven and The Devil, because neither of them will take him in, and he'll be farting loudly and singing a filthy song.

I shoot into melee as much as i want to. It's like telling melee's to only go in one at a time.

What you should say however is for friendly archers to only take SAFE shots. No risky shots where you might hit whoever.
Which is pretty much what I've been fucking saying, retard.
Now really a cav player complains about teamhits and spamz M? Be carefull you dont get too many Ms for teambumps while trying to "help" teammates.

Miwiw, just one issue with that post, while the archer is close to the fight, he should indeed shoot into melee, when he is shooting from a correct angle and not directly at his allies/enemies back which will have the likeliest chance to teamhit, and in battle if I know a ranged player is there and I'd actual trust the particular player with not shooting me to pieces I'll rotate to an angle so he can shoot at the guy I'm fighting, if a cav is coming from the side I'll S key and jump when the cav hits my enemy, when an archer decides to shoot me from miles away 'cuss he thinks he got the slightest fucking chance of hitting my enemy then I'll support perma banning him from using a bow/xbow/throwing weapon.
1H stab is the fastest, strongest and longest 1H animation. There's no reason NOT to use it in all instances. I don't know if it's OP, but it's boring. 1H used to be fun because you had a fast (left), long (right) and the most devastating attack (stab) and had to choose the best attack for each occasion.

Most of the time when I accidently bump people I'll stop my horse on them to block the enemies attack, If an archer shot me and then as an apology rushed into the battle and blocked the enemies sword with his body while letting me hit I guess I'd be ok with him shooting me as well, and unlike all you idiots with bows I don't fucking charge straight at my teammates back throwing a throwing lance at the teammates head and then blame him for not moving...
And if it'll make you feel better I also support an overall nerf in bump damage anyways and I don't ride a horse with heavy bump damage, and I fucking only charge into battle from a sane angle once the teammate is aware that I'm there and you stupid ground ranged morons could learn something from that.

Maybe you are lucky and the arrow bounces off your sword over the huscarl right into the enemies eye. There's a high chance of this, believe me!

As much as I agree on excessively teamhitting scrub archers should be banned from using bows, to the same amount I have to rage about stupid melee nonbrainers meatshielding the enemy all the time. After a lot of thinking about this matter I could only come to one conclusion:

Let the cannonfodder die first - enjoy a clean shot.

This might not be exactly the most helpful thing to do for your team but as we all know, most part of the cRPG community doesnt even manage to let go of the W key until they mindlessly run into the next solid object after a battle has started.

Although +1 what Adamar said on the first page, expecting the average meleeplayer to be smart enough to work together with ranged is equal to expecting a monkey to achieve a master degree in quantum physics. It wont happen.

If there weren't rules against teamkilling I'm 99% sure that at spawn both teams would teamkill every single archer, to be able to play in peace :lol:

I like them, and also the lancer cavalry that chases the HX/HA with their horses body perfectly cockblocking a shot around the map!

To the OP, arrows take so long to fly across the map that:

1: That archer could have shot that arrow seconds before you got on the scene.
2: That arrow may not even have been aimed at you and your little melee fight at all! Horses run across the map, arrows miss, and guess what? That have to come down somewhere! Do you think that all of those people who got shot on New Years Eve as bullets fall through their ceilings and windows were actually being aimed at by the shooters?

See, if they implemented my suggestion of bolts going through bodies, then silly teammates that jump into the path of my shot wouldn't matter anymore.  Everyone would be happy!

There is a giant difference between loomed and unloomed bow and arrows.

If you spend 6 loompoints on your bow and arrows you will get additional 5 dmg! 5DMG

5 dmg difference with usual 6pd which is 14% dmg buff changes values terribly. Archers start dealing frightening dmg. I remember playing with my archer alt and with nothing loomed I couldn't kill anything and when I took Strudog's Loomed Longbow and Bodkins people were dying like flies... I know it's Longbow and Bodkins but still... 6PD shouldn't make you super-rifle-archer-better-than-arbalest-users.

Today I have shot a blocked horseman once in the head and 3 times into body from like 3 meters ( he couldn't move ). To my surprise he survived. He had barbutte and Couir Bouli over mail or sth like that... After my pointless shooting he managed to get out and escaped... This what happens when you have unloomed bow and arrows. I had horn bow and tatar arrows 17 str and 5PD seems low lvl but think once again that he got HS and 3 more arrows to the body and he was still alive... How can I kill anything until it's headshot with unloomed archer stuff?

If I could spend 10 loompoints to make my sword deal additional 5 dmg I would go for it so don't write things like "But archer has to spend 6 loomps!"

It's not about melee weapons getting small buff with upgrades but rather about Bows and Arrows getting big buff. +3 to melee with 8% more dmg with every 1PS is much less than +5 dmg with 14% dmg buff with every 1PD. If I were dev I would rather think about adding more arrows to the bag or increasing accuracy or something. Maybe even small increase of rate of fire but +5 dmg is giant diffenece. +4 would be ok. Seems like a small difference but in fact it's important.
