1 handers without shield

I think teeth knows that most 2hers and poles are longer then his 1h. What it sounds like to me isn't as much saying he is going to S key and spam the guy while staying out of his range, but that he will stay far enough away from his opponent so that he has a false sense of safety, but in reality is still in range of the right swing.

Ok so we have drawn ALL conclusions it seems:

Xant is an arrogant twat, but nifty in a fight
Teeth is also pretty quick
Idzo is qq'ing cause archers can block

And we ALL agree that the "speed" rating of a weapon is a stupid number, because in actuallity its NOT speed of the weapon, merely the speed of the animation, and with long weapons this means the speed at the tip of the weapon is massively increased, this rendering many polearms and 2handers FASTER than 1hander, making 1handers even more shit.

We have all also agreed the term "Swashbuckler" is STUPID to describe 1handers, or 2 reasons: 1/ Swashbuckler uses a BUCKLER, thats why its swashBUCKLER and 2/ 1handers are called 1handers, if they have a shield they are shielders.


Ok, so to reach a positive solution from this thread, we all agree, nerf the speed on large weapons by approx. 10 points each, 20 for the axes that outspam scimitars, stop calling 1handers silly names, buff/nerf shields so they stop melee weapons when in REST position, as they do for projectiles, but remover ALL of their forcefield, vs melee and ranged, in rest and BLOCK positions, and we can all be happy. Great!

Since due to its range, GLA is faster than most 1handers anyway, this is superpowerful "trick". Im just glad that you are not great player else it would be trouble to kill you with my puny shortsword.

Yes, all of this started because of Xant saying that you can't play the range game with 1h, which I disagree with. Sure, effectively if both fighters were supercomputers I will get my ass whooped cause a 2h is just a bit longer.

But the players of this game are so far from being flawless supercomputers that when footwork and timing gets thrown into the mix, which are so far from perfect even with the best players, I feel completely comfortable trying to outrange greatsworders. Not just noobs, but also veteran duellers. Cause having a slightly shorter weapon does not at all mean that you have to facehug, especially when it comes to 1h. The rightswings actualy max reach is very hard to determine even in a duel situation cause it is so dependent on movement.

Bobthehero started calling it swashbuckling, I use it aswell because it is a whole lot catchier than saying 1h without shield everytime. It also nicely describes the classiness of the class. I reckon I should call myself a 1h, and that I should call the others shielders.

What 1hers are you using that are slower then a GLA? Also that "trick" while valuable is good for catchign people off guard, but the 1her will still be able to block. Infact, I see a lot of people try to do this to me, and assume they will continually weapon stun me, which is not possible, so in the end I am the one who gets the free hit in.
