It's dead, it's generally left at the "poke with a stick" stage.

Just 2 questions if i may:

1. Would it be possible to filter out all the Grey keys out of this statistic ? I'm interested to see just how many of those 2500-3500 keys per day is theirs.
Don't you know ? One hundred...  :P

The goal of Strategus battles shouldnt be to deprive your enemies of players, but to have full roster both sides and have the gear/tactics/strategy win the day rather than lack of merc support.

As other people have said, the player base is stable, maybe even growing but the clan interaction and competition, which made this mod so fun is more or less dead.

Strat being dominated by just a few clans has turned most others off it and the fallen/shogunate tournaments no longer exist. The ladder system that was proposed could have been very fun and reignited a lot of interest but I assume that is no longer happening.

"WvW is designed to accomodate players that would not normally participate in PvP. For instance, the high player limit means a new player can get involved without immediately feeling pressured to contribute."

'Nuff said. Dumbed down, skilless PvP. Yawn.

If you are determined to be wrong, I probably can't stop you.

But for the information of everyone else:
"Normal" PvP, for an MMORPG, is a tightly constrained battle usually 10-15 minutes in length with set objectives.  They can be fun but for me the total absence of strategy or long term goals makes them get old fast.

So when they say WvW appeals to people who wouldn't normally participate in PvP, that's what they mean.  If you thought 10 minute battles of running a flag back and forth was stupid, boring or irritating then World vs World might be something you'd enjoy more.

WvW is epic scale PvP with the goals of capturing and holding a great number of castles, keeps, towers and supply camps, with a battle timer of 2 weeks.  There's pretty good strategy to it and even logistics (defenders will need supply to maintain their defense and newly conquered areas will need supply for upgrades, so attacking supply routes is advisable).

Entering WvW sets everyone to max level, meaning:
a) You won't get "ganked" level 80 vs level 2
b) Everyone can participate right off the bat

That said, WvW doesn't grant you free powers -- you still have to level up to earn them, so a level 2 boosted to 80 will still be a fair bit weaker than a natural level 80.  It's just that rather than "instant kill", the level 2 has SOME fight in him.

So it's the opposite of dumbed down.

I also find it amusing that you think putting players on equal level removes all skill from PvP.  It actually makes it require much more skill, since ganking noobs isn't so easy.

To bring the discussion back around, though, people who enjoy cRPG for the clicky-action may still not like GW2 just because the combat is completely different.  (But I suspect a lot of people here like both, and will switch to GW2.)
Crush your enemies; see them driven before you; hear the lamentations of their women.

I also find it amusing how you're saying I think putting players on equal level removes all skill from PvP when I never said that.
Meaning lies as much

I am not even sure how you think gw2 and crpg combat is even nearly comparable.

Its like comparing diablo 3 to a fps, totally different mechanics that scratch different itches.

Playerbase is here, new players coming in, but gameplay additions and updates are pretty low, as others have said. Been playing dayZ mod and Rocket, the developer of it, tosses out updates once a week, some weeks two or three times, even.

Bored as fuck already with current state of cRPG, and it's just week and a half after I returned from several months break. Can't see any relevant and interesting new content, Strat is as dead as ever. I guess soon it will be time to head back for good to Vikingr.
Mods compatible with cRPG. New crosshairs, textures, sounds, yay.
