Ok, well i guess I better put my armor on before I wade in here and get personally attacked as a result of stating my opinion.
My opinion:
There is a reason, the richest men on the battlefield equipped horses, superior armor, and weapons on the battlefield - because THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE OP
Thats why that guys armor cost 35-50k and his horse possibly twice that much, and you know what, he pays upkeep on that.
So, outside of a roof, a properly armed cav should OWN an archer. AND STILL, if your careful and skillfull, you can beat a cav on foot, thats how it should be and thats how it is. The added slow on cav was crap, the horses are squishy enough as it is.
Its like argueing that a peasant slinger should be balanced with a Spartan warrior... If you dont like the odds of an sling versus a Spartan, then dont play a peasant class - and thats not a slight - take it as a challenge like a man, rather than crying about the balance between a knight and an archer, please...
And on roofs - roofs should have random chances of caving in, (killing the archer or dropping him to the first level of a hut -if he cant get out? his bad... and anyone trying to get on one, a chance of slipping off depending on roof angle. And angle of a slope on a roof you can climb and can stand on should be nerfed. Also, there should be an accuracy modifier based on the slope one is standing on. -Probably not easily modded in, but that would make things better.
And if any archer is gonna scream 'no fair! unbalanced!' All I can say is, this aint a game about Legolas and his pretty little archery fantasy world, this is the medieval world where your an archer, because your the peasant class, or a specialist, you wanna be a hero archer? Earn it like a Medieval hero archer, you chose a peasant/yeoman class, deal with it. -You already have alot more already for the sake of game balance than you probably should.
Ok i have my helmet on, commence with the tomatoes. lol
