Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: Archer Armor
« on: February 03, 2013, 06:07:08 pm »
Wasn't it more like Head x2, Gloves x4 and weight limit = 10 before the WPF penalty sets in?

Anyway, on topic:
I like running around with a Byrnie, Leather Gloves and Hunter boots, no helmet. I prefer the extra body armour over a light helmet as I've never really seen a light helmet (<1 weight) save my life.
When i want to use a helmet, i go for one of the ~30 Head armour ones and a Padded Leather armour.

Note: I'm not a pure archer though, 21/18 archer/1H hybrid.
As a pure archer you might want to get at least some head armour against though occasional throwing daggers/etc.
Alternatively you can try to keep your weight as low as possible and always run away from all fights, but that'll be really hard with the new Arrow weight. And people will hate you (even more than non-kiting archers :P )

Indeed.
And i also just noticed that you can't sell loomed weapons back to the shop, so there'll be just 1 button.

You can repair it on your character Page. Select your character, go to "Inventory", then to "Items" (on the left). If an item is broken, there is a button with a small hammer and the amount of money it'll cost on it. Make sure not to pick the wrong button, the one with the coins on it will sell the item!

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: Bodkin vs Tatar
« on: January 04, 2013, 12:52:47 am »
Somewhere around 40 or 45 armour Bodkins start being more effective than Tatars.

You should also keep in mind that Bodkins have 1 less weight, which is especially important if you're going to use 2 stacks of arrows. A second bag or lower tier arrows can really slow you down now.

Other than the standard 18/21 build, i actually like 21/18 with 4 PS 7 PD 6 Ath/WM and 150 Archery WPF, 50 1H WPF (55 1H WPF and 7 PS on lvl 31). I'm currently using that build with a Rus bow, 1 stack of Bodkins and any 1H weapon. It's pretty nice since most people don't expect an archer to actually hit hard with melee weapons. Obvious drawbacks are the slightly reduced accuracy and the reduced amount of arrows you can carry.
I don't really top the scoreboard with this build, but I'm frequently in the upper third.

I've also tried 30/9 with 10 PD 7 PS 3 Ath/WM and 130 Archery WPF with my STF char, but haven't played it enough decide if it's viable for more than a few rounds. One thing i did notice though is the reduced draw speed.

Unless this restriction has been removed when i wasn't looking, there is currently no bow that can use more than 10 PD (difficulty + 4)

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: Tips for a new 2 hander?
« on: December 08, 2012, 08:26:21 pm »
Looking at that build, most people are probably going to recommend you to respec. Better now than even later, since it's going to cost you half of your Exp.
Just pick any build from the Solid builds thread ( http://forum.meleegaming.com/beginner%27s-help-and-guides/solid-builds/ ).
Make sure not to spread your points like that next time. If you're going to play a 2Hander, focus on Power Strike, Ironflesh, Athletics and Weapon Master and put all your Weapon points into 2H.

Edit: Deutschritter was faster , but you get the idea, those builds are called solid for a reason.

Guides / Re: The art of throwing II
« on: April 16, 2012, 09:06:44 am »
2-Slot system is a bit weird when it comes to picking up other weapons from the ground. Let's say I have started with 2 stacks of throwing axes and double sided lance (2 slot). I threw all of my axes and I'm out of ammo now. I see a javelin on the ground. I try to pick it up, my lance drops. I pick my lance, javelin drops. Since I have actually 2 slot left, I should be able to carry the javelin.

Just put your melee-weapon always in the first (highest) slot. That should fix the bug.
Though you will still be paying repair costs for the empty throwing weapon stacks you are carrying...
Once you've thrown all your weapons you could just pick up a 2-slot weapon and drop it again, then you should have your melee weapon and 2 empty slots (assuming you put your melee weapon in the first slot).

I've decided to go Cav for my 2nd gen which got me down to ~9k atm, so i'm reduced to rouncey or foot most of the time :/
It would be awesome if you could give me 30-80k to help me survive the remaining time until i can retire and sell a loompoint

12
t it dies sooooo easy.
|You've never played a Desert Horse, did you? It usually dies in one hit or shot :/ (+0 desert horse)

Thanks for your answer and the votes!
I have a MW horn bow now, but only ~15k gold left, so loomed arrows are out of question for now ^^

I haven't yet decided if I want to upgrade my Arrows or Horse next. I'm not sure if I'll keep the Desert Horse, I might want to swap to Destrier or Arabian later, or too Foot archer... But that's another chapter, just wanted to thank you :P

I've just reached level 30 with my HA and finally sold my loom item, so now i have enough money to buy +1 arrows. I just don't know which I should buy.
So here's my Question: Which arrows do you people use when you play Horse Archer (not foot archer!)?

I'm thinking about getting Bodkins, but I'm not sure if they are worth the extra upkeep. At least I could get them immediately on the market for ~400k, +1 Tatar arrows seem to be rare. I don't really plan on using barbed or even normal arrows, I rarely kill anything with my +1 horn bow and +0 barbed arrows.
