General Discussion / New Multi System will need ASSISTS

so as you all know chadz has decided to go back to something similar to the original xp system (with adjustments)....

It makes you stop playing when you drop to x1, and it forces you to continue playing when you have x5. 

Therefore, we'll change the system to something that rewards personal skill and risk more. It will be, among other factors, proximity based, as we had in the early versions of cRPG. It will definately not be purely kill based, we don't want to reward fraghunters over teamplayers. It will also not reward proximity leechers. You can expect this change soon.


Now, I am all for this... but I think (and I think many of you agree with this) that if this is done, *we will need an assist system* (that counts for less than kills) that helps avoid killwhoring and TK's from overzealous attempts to seal the killing blow.  Also, archers need this like a man in the desert need water - and im not even an archer.

Thoughts?

Scene Editing / Could Defense Spawntime Adjust to Population?

Mostly a question for Ozin and Mustikki, but is this possible?

The same map can be literally impossible to defend with TOO FEW players on the server, nice and even with a certain range of population on the server, and then TOO EASY to defend as the server reaches max population.

Could the defense spawn timer on siege adjust based on population thresholds?

For instance:

1-15 defenders = 20 sec
16 - 30 defenders = 30 sec
31+ defenders = 40 sec

(of course just made up numbers, these thresholds would have to be carefully chosen, and maybe theres more than 3 of them for more accuracy)

Anyhow thought I'd ask if its even possible and what you thought.

There should probably be an official stickied feedback thread - one for SIEGE and one for BATTLE (and another for DTV/Rageball)

Making a siege map - got spawns and flag and ladders and gatehouse and even siege tower working right.

How do you make destructable doors not open for both teams?

Right now they are destructable as they should be, but they can also be opened by the attacking team, from the outside :(

How do I set these "permissions" or does the server do that in crpg?

Game Balance Discussion / Longsword Revisions?

Currently, the Bastard Sword, Heavy Bastard Sword, and Longsword are all very similar - in fact the Longsword only differs from the HBS by 1 length and a tiny bit less weight.

So those weapons are rather clustered in their stats, and then there is a decent gap (in swords with stab) between those and the Two Handed sword - specifically in speed, going from 98 speed to 95.

* I would propose either that the Longsword stats could be changed (and allow loomed longswords to be traded in for their LPs?
or adding a new weapon between the Longsword and the Two Handed Sword *

Either way, the new stats for the revised Longsword or the New Longsword (needs name) could be :

weapon length: 108
weight: 2.1
difficulty: 11
speed rating: 97
thrust damage: 23 pierce
swing damage: 37 cut
slots: 2
* NO secondary mode

Suggestions Corner / End of Round Cheering?

First - let me say that I don't care whether people are able to attack each other after the round ends or not.  But it seemed with the last patch that the devs were trying to change how that whole situation works.

When the patch first came out, both teams stopped and just cheered at the end of the round.  This made attacking anyone after the round ended almost impossible, for both sides.  It was weird that the losing team cheered but it served its purpose if the intent was to stop end of round attacks.

Now, the loser of the round no longer cheers, only the winning side.  Therefore, the losing side has time to take free shots on the winners - consolation prize? :)

Again, don't really care how it ends up - but just curious what the INTENT of the devs is with this situation.

- I will design a banner in the correct size within somewhat medieval guidelines (unless you specify otherwise)
- I will send you a preview and you can make a couple tweaks
- Once you've approved the design I will send you the final which is ready to be uploaded through the website or put into the bannerpacks

CURRENT COST (in game gold only):
40-100K GOLD
If its a simpler banner, you will be charged less (down to 40K)
If its a complex banner, you will be charged more (up to 100K)
I will tell you the suggested price when you submit your idea.

Gold due at delivery of final image, if not earlier.

** HOW TO TEST YOUR BANNER CLIENT SIDE IN GAME ***

- If you have an exclusive banner slot on the ladder : Just upload it and go look in game :)

- If you DO not, and are testing locally...here's how to do it.

1 - Go to your Crpg/Textures folder
2 - Open up std_banners_a.dds
3 - To do so, you will need Photoshop or another image editing program.  You will also need this plugin for Photoshop:

4 - Put your banner JPG in the file, and place it over (carefully) one of the banners, save over the dds file
5 - Load into Crpg and choose your banner (only you will see the change)
6 - Take screens if you like (outside of steam, use CTRL + INSERT (they go to a folder in your documents, mount and black warband, screenshots, crpg)
7 - To revert to the original banners, just open the dds file again and remove the banner you added, and save it over the dds again (or delete the file and repair crpg on next load)

Strategus Issues / STRAT - Battle Notifications

Might be nice if you could pick certain clans through the website whose Strategus battles you are notified about so you can join in.
For instance, I select CLAN X, so when CLAN X gets scheduled for a battle in Strategus (attacking or defending), a message is sent to me on the Crpg website.

Would be good for clans and for mercs.
