To me this all sounds like brocoding. You arent clanmates anymore if you are on opposite teams, just fucking destroy them like you would anyone else. Nudging archers to save a clanmate should be bannable. Going in to a fight expecting to 2v1 and then suddenly one is just spectating is a horrible sight, i want to win not fucking duel go to the duel server if you want honour bullshit. Duels are boring and tedius, its more exciting on the other part anyways, fighting 2 people at the same time.
Removing ranged cav completely is a shit idea aswell, mod is about variety and theres probably a decent chunk wanting to play mongol horse archer from time to time, some who only want to play it. Removing the entire class could result in people quitting the mod and that is never a good thing with a dying mod anyways.
Lets look at this: do you blindly charge into fights with the ppl next to you? Honestly, in 2014, you trust blindly to everyone who plays? I personally judge my commitment and positioning based on who those people around me are, and who I am facing: there are few gear combos and playstyles that cannot be instantly recognised, or at least narrowed down as to who it is your facing.
Also, winning? The multiplier system is the worse thing to happen to this fucking mod: A fair fight, a good fight is what I want, winning or losing is secondary, but everyone's obsession with grind means we see ppl playing to win, not for fun nor amusement, so we see horseachers, crossbow my old friendgits, and massive ganksquads using bannerbalanceto destroy peasants.
I'm still not going to help you gank someone who is my friend, who I speak to daily, to me you are scum and he isn't, why would I help you? I won't be sat spectating either, because that is retarded: unless they are the final enemy, I will go find someone to fight. I don't see what difference it makes to you anyway: if you don't trust your own ability to fight alone, you have no business going into a 2v1 anyway, since experience should have taught you by now that many if not most of the playerbase fails at the easiest of jobs: ganking. It's so easy to just use holds and simultanious attacks to bring down even the very best players, yet still we see masses of teamkills everyday.
In a 2v1 with an average player helping you, you are in more danger than you would be alone, tbh, since at least when alone you only need to watch your opponent, not also your retard teammate.
