i think you might have the wrong idea about looms
all they do is save you some money by bumping up your gear stats a couple classes but have you still pay the lower upkeep, and presumably less weight restriction as well. other than the highest tiered gears which go a little higher than what normally exists. other than that, not like someone couldn't just get heavier gear to achieve the same results, and just pay a little extra and be a little slower.
the reason it takes this or that many hits to kill a given player has to do with not only their gear, but also your gear, their build, your build, their footwork, your footwork, random luck of damage modifiers, speeds, environment, awareness, so on.
