Plate covered will stand more against weapons without shield bonus, knightly kite will stand more against axes etc. I think its pretty clear :D

My advice; get Plate covered since shielder's worst enemies are 2h kuyak heroes

Knightly kite and plate covered are two different shields. Knightly kite has way more speed but less coverage and sturdiness.

no need to run away fron 2h kujaks.
don't forget your stab outreaches their swing even with a 40 shorter weapon.
example: the nordic shortsword thrust outreaches any swing of the greatsword.
high aggi 2h are much more of a problem because your shield makes you slow.

I doubt you can outreach 2handers with a 1hander.

There are few counters for 2hers , for example ; right swing outreaches all 2h swings mostly(however 2h animations still have longer reach) except the thrust , and when you block enemy thrust he will be guardless to your next overhead or left swing , also you can always use your feints against them, because you re way more faster.

(click to show/hide)
1H thrust gets +61 reach.
2H swing get between 13 and 17 reachbonus.
conclusion: 1H thrust outreaches 2H swing unless the lenght difference is bigger than 44.

the 2H thrust for shure will allways outreach any 1H.

Those are old numbers, you glance when you hit with a fully extended 1h stab now.

ok:

pro:
- high armor when shield is hit
- archers might die from laughter

contra:
- slower(no sprint, extra weight, backwards is slower by default)
- harder to dodge(inverted+"look around key" needed)
- archers can aim for lower body or head (no forcefield)
- looks retarded

Shields on the back don't look retarded.. and there is sprint in this game!?

No.
now you have 100% damage with full extended 1H stab.
before it was reduced and you were more likely to glance.

Hmm. I guess it doesn't glance as much as before, but it still does glance.

Are those numbers correct for the effective range, or are they just the number needed to reach the target?

I think the numbers are probably all a bit out of date. Someone made an updated list sometime after that one, but even that will be out of date now I think. The range of a stab might depend on how you move too, and you rarely stab just when standing

Shields on the back don't look retarded.. and there is sprint in this game!?

Someone suggested taking a high armour shield and approaching ranged backwards, but Paul is right in that it would be a really bad idea :D
If you have ranged troubles use this:
