Panos permabanned again?

If we are all misunderstanding the reason he was banned... then how about we start getting reasons when members of the community are permanently removed. The same happened to badplayer recently; granted he has a far worse reputation but he was permabanned and when someone asked why... the thread got locked down and cmp said it wasnt something that would be discussed publicly.

badplayer has been permabanned by Meow a year ago for griefing with RL pics and stuff like that. The thread you mention was created after yet another of his multiaccounts was discovered and banned.

Thing is... you never said that. you just locked the thread and said it wouldn't be discussed. If you had just said that then people would have known and not worried about it.

I didn't make any accusations, I just said that your resistance to openness is likely to be interpreted poorly by many. It would be far better for the community if you could just give an honest answer when someone asks "why was this person banned?"

You are right, and I think most people agree with you that the ban was legit.

We can still try to convince cmp to put mercy before justice, especially since I think that cmp is actually inclined to forgive Panos. But I tink we can do very little, because it's only Panos, who can get Panos free...

The point of telling people to behave is to not offend other people by misbehaving. Since Panos did not offend Xynox, it was no misbehaving, at least none of the sort where damage had been done.

That way he was close to crossing the border, but did not. Which means that a warning shot could be adequate, e.g. a temporary ban, forum mute, essay, whatever.

I guess it would be a nice compromise to settle this unpleasant matter now...

I do infact. My argument is simply that nobody would do it significantly better than CMP. Im not implying that cmp does flawless decisions, but rather than mostly nobody in this community is capable of doing his job better than he is at the current state. And taking someone outside of this community and dragging him to the decisionmaking department would backfire.

So why is Panos banned? Cause he shit talked a ranged player? You'd have to ban 95% of crpg if shit talking ranged was against the rules.
