You really do not need anything special.  As long as it is comfortable.

Ah yes, I've been looking at that one!

Mostly I'm cheap... and don't want to use one that looks like it's going to transform into a robot!!

I'm thinking I only need a couple of side-buttons for better access to kick and nudge - assuming you can map to keys.

Steelseries Sensei [RAW] just picked it up yesterday, very satisfied so far. Had the Blackadder before that also a great gaming mouse but imo the fucked it up with the Synapse 2.0 (software) so my pick was Steelseries and I didn't regret it. You can also go with some cheaper models like Kinzu or Kana also great gaming mice.

And now he can't play because of "common sense" and he doesn't understand how this common sense works

Better than any other mouse.
Meaning lies as much

had a 10€ logitech for years, very good, very durable, nothing special.

Then I tried the G400 and I must say for me this mouse was terrible. Compared to the 10€ mouse the buttons were extremely loud and it felt like a5mm gap between buttons and mouse. Also the position of the buttons and the mouse itself felt completely uncomfortable and after a bit playing my fingers started to ache (I have rather long thin hands).

Then I tried the Roccat Savu (40€) and this mouse is perfect for me. Everything is tight and felt right from the beginning and it looks good, not too robot-like.

After my decent mouse with buttons broke, I took the cheapest thing I could see, and it works extremely well

Revoltec fightmouse

4 dpi modes, 3 sets of 2 macro buttons. It's ok except the center wheel which lacks grip.
