Steelseries Sensei [RAW] just picked it up yesterday, very satisfied so far. Had the Blackadder before that also a great gaming mouse but imo the fucked it up with the Synapse 2.0 (software) so my pick was Steelseries and I didn't regret it. You can also go with some cheaper models like Kinzu or Kana also great gaming mice.

I just picked up this same one and so far I'm wholly satisfied with it. I've never had more then two buttons and a wheel and this one is a bit bigger than my last $10 mouse so it fits my hand better. I wouldn't recommend the glossy one if you don't like smudges though.
And how!

You really do not need anything special.  As long as it is comfortable.

I use one of those, G400. Cheap, good optical sensor (prefer that to laser), same shape as my old mx510/518. Plenty of DPI (I use default 800 tho).
If you have ranged troubles use this:

The logo gathers a ton of dirt, though. Same with the MX518(much worse than on the G400). It's why I have a G500 these days. It doesn't have that logo to gather dirt the same way.

Good suggestion, will try.

I really wonder whether there are gaming mouses out there with metallic hulls.

I used to really like Razer mouses of which I tried a handful or so, then the Roccat Kone came out and I tried that only like so many others to have the scroll key give up on me. Then I tried Logitech mouse devices for a bit, and though the G series has a good quality feel to it I don't think they are as good for claw and finger grip (which I prefer) as most of the Roccat and Razer mice. Then Roccat launched its improved version of the Roccat Kone (now with a '+' in the name) and like some of Roccat's other products the second generation have mostly outdone the competition in all aspects.

Review

Best mouse I've ever used, hands down. The (German) quality can be felt in all the parts, nice rubber surface, good responsive keys, metal scroll key for durability, high end stats (like 6000dpi as if you'd ever want to use that much), due to its relative size and shape ergonomic for both claw, finger and palm grip, great software pack with lots of customization options (easy changing of general values, colors or macros and such), clip in weights, surface scanner and a tracking and distance control unit under the mouse.

I've put mine to extensive use for well over three years now and it's as good as the day I bought it. Been using it with the Taito mousepad.

And it's likely cheaper now that Roccat has released a few mouse devices since (Kone Pure and XTD are probably excellent, too).

I use that. Partially because of the crazy sensitivity possibilities, partially because no other mouse I've used is that good at changing settings on the fly. Since I tend to have different setups for different games/crpg builds, it works splendidly.
