I tried them all. Stick to archery because it was most challenging.

It's really hard to do well as archer.  First of all, the arrows go all over the place.  Even with high wpf, if you are going for a headshot you are going to miss as often as you hit.

Second, its hard to hit players moving.  Everyone has different athletics and weight, so they move at different speeds, and it can be tough to lead a target properly to get a shot.  It's rewarding when you do though.

Third, its hard to do well in melee.  Having a worse melee weapon, low armor, low PS, low melee wpf, and/or all of the above can make it quite a challenge when someone gets in your face!

I don't play archer any more though, it got too frustrating.  I like 1h/shielder because you get in the thick of the action, can reasonably take on multiple opponents, and has lots of tactical/teamplay potential.

I am tired of being told how OP and noskill it is to play 2hander.

So right now im playing 1hander, without a shield of course.
The biggest difference must be that 1hander is way way better (stab stab stab)

Main - 2h because simply like the weapons best.
Alt - 1h no shield to practice blocking and range and cos its most fun or pole to understand how to fight against.

Gave up on archer at lvl 25 with no looms when got nearly all my kills by killing melee guys who chased me down in melee.

Well kids, settle down, I've got a story to tell you.

Back in the old days of cRPG, when your's truly hadn't retired yet and got continually demolished by those who had, there was a boy who seen the likes of Torben, Shieldpoop, New_Player_NOOB and Ujin playing as either sword and shielders or lance users on horseback. At the same time, there was Jackie tearing it up using horse archery (although it seemed like he was using a gun for how rapidly he could fire and how strong his arrows were). From those early days, I knew I wanted to be a horse user.

I tried and tried but all I did was accidently teamkill members of Shogunate. It was so hard trying to earn the money to get better horses and my proficiency with my Heavy Lance was too low to compete with others who had descended from previous polearm users - so I eventually gave up.

Soon after, the way we managed our equipment changed. But by now I was locked far deep into a 2 handed way of life. I continued on and passed my dreams onto my child. He finally managed his dream of become a lancer cav, as did his son and his son after that.

Recently, one generation decided it would be fun to try and go 2 handed on horseback. He is the much hated black sheep of the family - no-one likes to acknowledge him now he's retired.

We are once again a lancer cav family, even after all those nerfs and most likely always will be.

Gay story aside, it's fun as hell . No other class gives me the true enjoyment that comes from wizzing past a small group of archers leaving one dead on the ground after getting lanced in the back of the head. It isn't the same as it used to be with the angle nerfs and continuous horse nerfs but I get by. It is nice though to now see a wider variety of horses now I've came back to cRPG after a few months break. I also did see the Heavy Lance get 1 extra pierce damage recently as well, though I still don't see it viable.

Two-handed swords are my aesthetic "thing" so that has always been my main since I started two years ago.  Even though I feel that I have more control and thus fight better on my polearm and one-hander alts.

shielder/thrower

shielder ability to constantly take on multiple opponents at same time and win, rarely get shot by archers

throwing satisfies urge to pew pew, also provides defence against kiters/cav, and ability to troll people.

Pike. One of the most challenging weapon to play with. I don't remember how much times i rage-respeced into another 2h/shielder/xbow etc but i always return to being piker, cause it's FUN.
Also it's one of the most unorthodox class that heavily relies on amount of players on server to function properly.

Lol I might have to quote that in my signature.

Anyways, langes messer 1h/2h build because I can fight on the front lines with a shield, and 1v1 in 2h mode. Pretty effective I must say.
