Well kids, settle down, I've got a story to tell you.
Back in the old days of cRPG, when your's truly hadn't retired yet and got continually demolished by those who had, there was a boy who seen the likes of Torben, Shieldpoop, New_Player_NOOB and Ujin playing as either sword and shielders or lance users on horseback. At the same time, there was Jackie tearing it up using horse archery (although it seemed like he was using a gun for how rapidly he could fire and how strong his arrows were). From those early days, I knew I wanted to be a horse user.
I tried and tried but all I did was accidently teamkill members of Shogunate. It was so hard trying to earn the money to get better horses and my proficiency with my Heavy Lance was too low to compete with others who had descended from previous polearm users - so I eventually gave up.
Soon after, the way we managed our equipment changed. But by now I was locked far deep into a 2 handed way of life. I continued on and passed my dreams onto my child. He finally managed his dream of become a lancer cav, as did his son and his son after that.
Recently, one generation decided it would be fun to try and go 2 handed on horseback. He is the much hated black sheep of the family - no-one likes to acknowledge him now he's retired.
We are once again a lancer cav family, even after all those nerfs and most likely always will be.
Gay story aside, it's fun as hell . No other class gives me the true enjoyment that comes from wizzing past a small group of archers leaving one dead on the ground after getting lanced in the back of the head. It isn't the same as it used to be with the angle nerfs and continuous horse nerfs but I get by. It is nice though to now see a wider variety of horses now I've came back to cRPG after a few months break. I also did see the Heavy Lance get 1 extra pierce damage recently as well, though I still don't see it viable.
