And what does knowledge of items do?

How about we do a example in real life.
Your used to an item and you know how it works. What will change that? Let's look at the item stats in game.

Weight: Obviously can't change. If you know how to handle a weapon it won't get lighter?

Weapon length: Also can't be changed, makes sense.

Difficulty: Now that i think about it.... this one would make sense! Haven't thought about a difficulty drop. And this is testable, right?

Speed rating: Possible. You know how to handle an item and are more proficient with it, thus you can use it faster.

Damage: I don't see how this can affect the base damage, but knowing how to use your weapon IRL would make it more usefull, maybe in-game it would change the base damage. Possible.

Slots: I can't think up of anything how this can be changed if you use your item more. Actually this can't be applied IRL?

I'm probally missing some stats from ranged projectiles and armor, but if it is one thing, it's a stat that is on every item... which would be either difficulty or weight.
Remember, this is only a speculation if the chadztext would change any of the item stats. We don't even know yet if it does that.

1. the message is the same for every item

2. Everytime one item gets the "message-modification" it is exponentially harder to happen the same on the same item.

3. the more differents items you wear it will appear more. As the first time for each is easy.

4. It is attached to the repairment cost, the more you repair something, ramdomly and eventually will cost less

5. It also reduces penalizations like the Wpf vs Weight one

6. It stay as a personal and hidden modification in the relation character - item. So you can sell it and buy it again and you will keep the mod.

I'm going to go with extra heirlooms for the whole set simply because I find that to be the most advantageous to me.  I don't have any and a coule at once would be nice.

I'm afraid "A better understanding.." has to do with weapon profiency though

I had it once pre-patch and, being new, thought it was just a message to boost everyone's morale and not directed specifically at me.  I've got it one time post patch, yesterday, about 1 sec before the round ended in red letters this time

I got the message today on the duel server. Logged in and before i even fought anyone the message appeared.. Still no idea what it does but happy to know I am in the club

i think damage can be changed by for example sharpening the edge

The thing about this message is that it doesn't seem to target a specific weapon, and if it does it doesn't tell you about it. When I got the message it turned my balanced awlpike into a tempered awlpike on the website but ingame it remained balanced, so that was probably just a bug.

Maybe this only happens to items you have heirloomed... but what exactly would it do to them?

after I got the message I logged into the website and in my equipment I have a new item that I can not use or equip.
