The Good o'l days of Crpg
« on: April 21, 2011, 10:43:32 am »
These past 2 weeks with no decent computer have forced me to get a life.

It's made me reminisce on the good o'l days of crpg when everyone thought that buying plate armor was just impossible.
When everyone yelled 'TIN CAN NOOB" in chat
When there were almost no Cavalry
When we had the 200 man NA server for a few days
When we had a 120 man server
When ATS was the only NA clan with any organization and steamrolled people
When Lady Gaga pissed everyone off with plated charger
When BeatrixKiddo raped with the flamberge
When crymoar beat whole servers with boulder on stick and perfect manual blocking
When everyone yelled "auto-blocker" when crymoar blocked 6 people in different directions

I remember when i bought my first piece of decent armor.
Do you?

This phase you're describing lasted about a week. Sure, it was nice, but gimme a break.

It was also, what, a few months back? You know this mod has been out for a year, right? Good ol' days my ass.
Don't.

That's old days? lol.

Old days were the 2010 summer imo, when we had no Cavalry, no Sniper Crossbows because only Gnjus used one, and slowly archers started to snipe in full plate armour.

I remember before items were balanced at all and still used native values, which led to most sarranid armor being amazing for its weight/protection ratio. Sarranid mail boots, 1 weight, 30 leg armour, 3k gold or there abouts, crazy stuff man. Back when every shield user was huscarl + elite scimitar. Back when archery was insane if you were good with it, yet paradoxically there weren't a lot of archers.
Maybe you are not bad, but you are a boring person. Well, that's the end of the matter.

 :)

Right on!

I remember how Oberyn was the first EU to have bought the charger and it was fucking devastating... I remember a time, where there were absolutely no clans at all and only mabye the Staffmasters were some kind of guild with uniformity.  :D
And I remember how epic cRPG was even without strategus and without all those new kinky items, but just the native ones.
OMG and I remember how fucking tedious the hourly servers were, the open field shield wall battles and the peasant wars!

Also the epicness of having a Hunter is unforgettable. The damage me and Olwen did as cav was pretty insane and only Wooki was a true contester, as far as I remember.

Good betabetawhateverbeta times :)

I remember the pony club (I miss those 60 kills/map, yum).
I remember the godawful random maps with cliffs all over the place.
I remember when I was the only dedicated thrower around.
I remember Ptah ... though I would rather not.

aww the good old days

Did you know that the ninja clan is the second oldest crpg clan still in existence? Guards being the oldest (If i remember correct..staffmasters came first, then guards and ninja.. IRC/native clans are ofc excluded from the list).

I kinda miss those days, less plate and more diverse skill-builds. And you actually had to think when you planned your build (before WM was changed).
And since we only had one server, people knew each-others and knew how each of the big-hitters looked like.

Skill-wise crpg has evolved alot. Back in the early days (bit silly, since it was only about a year ago) people generally didn't know how to block. And thus the people that did knew how to block, became known and some even legends. (owzan/argento/ptah & chimp etc)
Also since the leveling was so harsh, we had fewer archers/cavs, less high-levels and perhaps a more even playing-field.
There also used to be more teamplay, shield-walls and the like looked awesome, although not the most effective strategy.

aww BNCshrek.. the first guy to get the black-armor. Think he played almost non-stop for nearly a month :D

The drama with vincento was golden, and for those that are ignorant to what happened:
(click to show/hide)

haha and CID, the douche-bag everyone in cRPG hated, sometimes i miss his insane ramblings on knight/lords vs peasants.

Argh and that merc guy (cant remember your name:S BLAH) that introduced horse-archers for everyone, may he be run over by a bus :P
