SO managed to kill Gargoyles first try with just two charges in estus flask (no tricks or summons or anything). Rang the first bell. Now I'm down under getting killed by countless ghosts jumping at me from walls, fun :D

There are much easier zones to do than new londo right after ringing the first bell.

Just a little hint, you might want to look at the keys you have.
And how!

There are? I thought that was kind of the progression, ring first bell, ring second bell, go on with the game?

Oh wait does it have to do something with that basement key I got? I think I just figured out where I can use it.

EDIT: Oh crap, I think I have mistaken New Londo Ruins to have the second bell. confuz game

Sorry, I hope that hint wasn't unwarranted.

It's ok, I'm not going full hardcore on DS1, I'm using it mostly to prepare for DS2. Without this who knows when I would've figured out where I should be heading.

Part of the experience is not knowing which one of the bazillion ways you can progress is the "right" one and also missing some of those alternatives, accumulating despair to the point of crying on your controller.

Got this game for xbox a week ago and I almost quit completely until I realized that I was trying to go to the wrong area. I kept fighting these damn skeletons who were really hard to beat and I would usually die. So I left the game for awhile and looked up a guide a few days later and saw I was going the wrong way. :D   I'm happy now that the game is fun again!

One does not simply play DKS without dying to the skeleton first.

I actually went the right way the first time.

Or maybe I just explored both ways until I found enemies and upon seeing those skeletons I had a Shrine of Storms flashback and went with NOPE.

It's probably due the to the order in which I did things but frankly Blighttown was quite easy. Qelaag proved to be one of the bosses I got stuck against for very long though. Sen's Fortress is far harder, even after the first playthrough when the traps (and I believe the first mimic of the game) aren't that much of an issue anymore. The difficulty with Blighttown is that is it large and remote. The two main enemy types have very predictable patterns. The only enemies I really consider to be a pain in the ass down there are the toxic snipers. And iirc those guys don't actually respawn, do they? Environmental hazards are only going to be a problem if you are looking for every single piece of loot in these low framerate areas halfway down.

Most annoying enemies were any of the smaller enemies, especially the dogs, and the four-legged skeleton thing. The hardest and most irritating bosses for me were probably the four kings (before I knew just to tank up) and the Bed of Chaos (for the trial and error, and having to run back to the room every time).
And how!
