I started a 2hander not long ago and I'm having so much fucking trouble.

I'm using the Zhander and I do good damage but I can't for the life of me beat the gargoyles.... I've tried summoning people but phantoms come in and kill me before I get a summmon off since the shit always fails.

Anyone got a good build I can use? I'm thinking about using a halberd later...with the dark hand. Hell even a weapon recommendation would be cool.

There's a chest in the burg with some Pine Resin that adds lightning damage to your weapon for about a minute. Any +5 weapon while buffed with that should make short work of the Gargoyles, mainly because they're weak to lightning damage. If you run out of those you can buy Charcoal Resins (Fire works half decent on the Gargoyles, too) from the Female Undead Merchant. That is, if you can find her.

Another, less classy solution is to get the Large Ember from the Depths and grind the slime monsters there until you can upgrade your Zwei to +10.

Never thought of that Depth grind, take the shortcut from the back with the master key. May end up doing that, or using the resin. I think I still have em....I should, don't recall using em.

I don't know if I wanna stick with the Zweihander though, it's meh.

Any other good 2handers? I was thinking the Black Knight Halberd.

Edit - Just realized the BKH isn't guarenteed to drop after I killed it in Dark Root Basin. Didn't get it.

If you're going to use the ultra-greatswords then the zwei-hander and black knight greatsword have great stab attacks after a roll maneuver. Also, doing a certain percentage of damage to bosses causes a lot of them to stagger.
