Started playing because of this mod:

Almost all items switch locations, you could go to the humanity at the well in firelink and pick up a 20k soul or a moonlight greatsword. Completely vital key items could be literally anywhere (that is accessible, they cant be placed behind a door you would need the same key to get inside) essentially making the game a fresh experience forcing you to explore those areas otherwise skipped. A lot of fun, i happened upon a great club early on and so i stuck with it. Also the return visit to Oscar as a hollow gave me a "I'm sorry carving", poor guy. Just got the lordvessel but have yet to go through the upper blighttown which is going to be a chore since i still dont have the key to get there from the depths so im forced to do it backwards from the swamp.

I assume you watched lobos then? You can choose to make everything random, but to not even have the estus makes it kind of too hard for me to enjoy it i think.

Yeah, lobos is amazingly good at the game.

Combine the randomiser mod with use what you see it's deadly haha. He always gets stuck in the painted world for hours.

Yeah it was fucked up when he got too fat to even roll. I wanted to combine the mod with the new aggression mod, but i couldnt get it to work quickly so i didnt bother. Watching someone on youtube combine the 2 and it seems like fun. The new aggression mod makes enemies see and hear you much farther, basically their vision distance is nearly infinite so they will chase you once youre able to see them. And apparently they dont let up the chase easily either which seems really cool, makes running through areas much harder and different, also makes more sense.

Dark souls 2 landed on a funny spot, it had the best pvp but its pve in general was just worse. It had so many good ideas and pulled a lot of them off, its the most fun to dabble with different builds in because everything is really strong and viable. I loved it first time around but contrary to dark souls 1 every playthrough after the first made it less and less enjoyable. I think what may have held it back was that it had to be a sequel, if it was its own thing i think it couldve had more potential.
At least its better than dark souls 3, its a sequel but its not a "Hey! Remember this?! Remember this guy? Hey look, youre in a low tier anor londo, remember that from dark souls 1?", man what a disappointment.

Im really cupping my nuts and praying to lady Velka that the bloodborne 2 rumors are not true.

Did you play Scholar of the First Sin? Because I'm frankly glad I didnt. Looks like a whole mess, endless NPC invaders with dumb AI and a crap-ton of hp, just the worst possible way to try and make each area interesting. Imagine if your first ever playthrough of the game was with this shit?

Amazed that for all the indulgence of Dark Souls 3 they didnt actually give anything new about Velka.

I did slowly force my way through scholar, it wasnt as bad as i wouldve expectet, some changes i actually thought made lots of sense, but it was much more of a struggle to push through. It feels like they are really trying to make "difficult" games now, rather than designing a game and letting the difficulty come with the game. Makes for roadblocks and slow progressing, not my idea of a souls experience.

Agreed on Velka, kind of odd how if they were going to reference back on ds1 so much they chose to do it by just copy pasting stuff we've already seen. I wouldve loved some sort of areas based on Catarina or Astora etc. So many areas vaguely mentioned that couldve been used to at least expand things.

Dark Souls 2 is objectively the most difficult to do all bosses in NG, even counting Bloodborne (Demon's Souls is piss easy in comparison). I don't dislike what they did with SotFS, it was a clever way to re-do the game and package it neatly. The different progression and new enemy placements make for environments that you essentially have to explore again and navigate differently. It's definitely more content and that's the problem with DS2: a lot of okay content without cohesion.

Also LobosJr is 90% of my time on Twitch, the randomiser UWYS runs were amazing. It's also cool to see Lobro evolve from basically not having object permanence at the start in the asylum to beating Orphan of Kos. This guy really has a no sense of orientation or any spatial memory.

I hope the next thing that FROM Software makes is either completely new or a PC port of Bloodborne or Demon's Souls. Even the formula is getting a bit stale now, they should try to shake things up as people become way too good at these games.

Just beat the item randomizer playthrough, ended up a strength faith build which bored me (i always seem to end up with something similar) so i didnt do Ariamis or DLC and just went with all the lord souls as soon as i had found the covenant of artorias. Had some fun though, will re-randomize and probably do a greatshield + spear pokey build, hyper mode if Velka allows.

I'd do the lobos way if it was my job like it is his, i have enough playthroughs to do in order to catch up to his list anyways. I havent even done a SL1 run yet! shame


Managed to get the new aggression mod going with the item randomizer, and holy hell its hard. Apparently the aggression mod also pumps enemies up, feels like playing ng+ with low tier items and as far as i know the fucking ember to get up to +10 could be in the Kiln! I legit struggled killing the moonlight butterfly just now, i had to actually equip a wooden piece of crap shield for the magic block so that i could consistently get through the scatter shots without dying to it in 2 hits. I did pick up a moonlight greatsword which is fitting for my sorcerer starter class, and can be upgraded without having to bother with finding that damn ember.
The true dark souls starts here! It does actually get me as close as i could possibly get to a new playthrough, its way harder than anything ive done previously.

Velka's blessings upon me! I found her Rapier before O&S and even before sens fortress. Shit is pretty cash, especially considering i havent found the large ember yet so id be running around with either a fire weapon or a +5 weapon otherwise. Now im only praying for the depths key to drop because i dont want to reverse it down from blighttown.
Aggression mod is so much fun, at times it makes your life a living hell, but it does have its moments where it helps you trick enemies down holes etc to clean a path up quickly, Tomb of the giants for example benefits me at a couple of points where they aggro further away and helps me kill them in a more suitable spot. Also had a double KO with Pinwheel (that bastard is actually pesky when his hp isnt less than your own).

It keeps baffling me how much people love this game (me included of course), keep hearing about all the cuts and concept changes, time and budget limiting certain areas of it. Yet still it ended up such an imperfect masterpiece.

Just beat my first SL1 run, and i tried this skip out. Pretty damn convenient, im impressed how there are still stuff being discovered in best souls. Going to do some runs now playing starting classes as they are, only levling STR&DEX so that i dont have to bother with lightning infuse on them. Should be fun.

edit: Just did the skip without having placed the lord vessel, and realised that the yellow fogdoor is still suppose to be blocking me out from the firesage. Went all the way and killed bed of chaos without even having the lord vessel, which is very amusing to me for some reason.
