What shield should I choose?The best is huscarl shield...but ofc it doesnt work on horse...so?

For me the best shield for (Light) Cavalry is Heavy Heater Shield (4346 gold).

The best compromise IMO to fight on horseback as on foot.

Require "only" 3, but I recommend having 4 or 5 shield skill

My sole charachter is cav since the beginning.
For cavalry agility is more important than strength.
I agree with Fluffy_Muffin and Elio , the best choice is 18/18.

Go pure polearm and lance the shit out of people, or instead of 2 shield, go 2 horse archery and get a crossbow, this way you wont have to run away like a bitch everytime you encounter a horse archer(or ride armored overpriced horse and you can giggle at horse archers taking 1/20 damage on your horse)

you could have like 18/21 or 15/24 but I would prefer first. I wouldn't use a shield.

A lot of skillpoints converted, but I think there's no need for shield and athletics, and for weaponmaster >5.  Some people maybe even think you don't need ironflesh at all, but I like it.

oh, I just read that question, well I went for the knightly heater shield, I was asking the same question on the old forum in August last year, was my first post And as I said I decided for the knightly heater shield. But if you are good enough, as I said in the previous thread, go without shield.

If you want a two handed sword, perhaps try a Longsword or Bastard Sword, as it can be used either one handed on a horse or two handed when you dismount. Katana would work too, but it's a bit short.

I just really like using the huscarl shield on foot, hence the shield 4. When leveling, i often go for agility first so i can get to riding 3 fast. Oh and: a higher riding skill is really worth it.

I think I made my decision.

Once the Bossman reaches level 31, I will allow him to retire, heirloom his Light Lance, and go for 12 Agility 4 Riding 4 Weapon Master all wpf in Polearms of course and the rest full strength and power strike. Of course this wont be a duelist char. But the goal is to 1-stab everyone, be it with Lance or Pike. Atm I have 8 power strike and I want MOAR.

It's a very versatile foot/cav build, all around strong. Pair it with a good reach 1 hander/shield/ and lance.
On gear selection, I tend to stick with themes myself, and there are plenty to choose from. If you are playing a  W. European horsemen, the Knightly Heater paired with a Arming style sword look really good. If an E. European flavor is more your style, a Knightly Kite Shield (or regular Kite!) paired with a Nordic style sword look awesome. Eastern style armor looks really good with an Elite Cavalry shield and Sarranid Sword or Scimitar. Good luck with it, cavalry is THE most fun class to play in my opinion.
