It's actually called "learning" when you find out something new.  I didn't know what kawai meant, so I googled it and found out it's a mis-use of a real word.  Figured the person using it incorrectly would like to know.

what you're doing is nitpicking.

If you're telling me you thought that "kawaii" and "kawai" were two different words entirely then you're either being disingenuous, or need to put two and two together a little better. "If I said you're dum", would you also assume that it was a different word? That nit picking remark was honestly a joke but it was totally apt in this situation. There are plenty of Europeans speaking slightly improper English on these boards, hopefully you follow through with your reasoning and let them know. It's a very tall order after all!

No what I said (and am repeating) was that I had never heard the word kawai before.  I googled it and came across the link I provided explaining that kawai is not a word, it's most likely a misspelled version of kawaii.   The guy I quoted clearly speaks English, I don't usually type with good grammar, but mine is pretty impeccable when I try, and I still think I'm one of the most lax when it comes to overlooking grammar and spelling mistakes (either from non-english speakers or native english speakers). 

Now I'm claiming you're bad at reading comprehension, because your first sentence is way off.  I never claimed to know what kawai meant...hence the reason for googling...

No, I understood you perfectly. I just assumed you were being disingenuous when you said you didn't know what kawai meant. I Just gave you the "either or" scenario to sort of give you a back door to just leave it be. I also thought that given the context of the remark in question, it was pretty stinking obvious what I was getting at when I said that. It's literally one of the most mainstream, over used phrases on the web.You're probably one of the only people on here that didn't assume it was a typo, honestly. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though and apologize for making assumptions and not realizing that I might actually just be speaking with one of the most oblivious people on the forums,rather than a nit picker. You made a run on sentence when you talked about your "impeccable grammar" by the by. (Now i'm nit picking  )

But I left myself a backdoor by saying I don't really try to use proper grammar when I'm typing (I should have said when typing online).

And honestly, I would assume the majority of people haven't heard the word kawaii/kawai before, and even less who would know what it means.  I don't stay up to date on all the latest meme's, but I'm pretty well traveled on these series of tubes.

And mike, apparently we like to argue and threadjack.
