When you swing a weapon on the ground, part of the damage caused by impact is due to the anchor provided by your weight attached to the ground. Otherwise, when you hit the target, the weapon would rebound because it no longer has your weight behind it (velocity aside)

I propose that when you jump, you receive a minimum of 50% damage reduction because you no longer have the weight behind your swing.

Overhead attacks should have a damage boost when jumping and swing down as you land.  The higher you jump or fall from, the more the damage.

I think (!) they actually have, as you gain more speed bonus.

But all in all I would disable jumping and attacking, as it think it looks ugly, is unrealistic and looks ugly. Besides this, it looks ugly.

Back to topic: I always asked myself if you already get a speed bonus if you turn your char while slashing/stabbing. Can anyone bring some light into this?

Pretty sure Vibe is right. Tried it out at some point in native and actually found that jumping forward usually gave you slight speed negative. I still like to jump slash though :P

What I mean with negative is that if I had just kept running I would have had about 30-35% but with jumping forward it was only about 20%
But yeah I do love it when games make jumping a bad thing to overuse.

Sure it might not be reasonable for a plated guy to jump and swing but they already get negatives to their athletics and to their wpf (therefore damage) and light armoured people, who would be more adept to jump and swing don't, it's already technically implemented and hurting it anymore would just be silly in my opinion.

Perhaps I am lacking skill (in form of knowledge) here, but I don't see any reason where jumping would help against cav. If you don't jump an strike horizontally just stay on the ground and aim a bit above.  :?

Or is it really about those centimeters when the tip of the lance is under your feet and the few centimeters you get horizontally if you don't aim above?
