If someone who is abusing the lvl26-freeupkeep is playing as long as a generation one needs until retirement he will have earned 435000 Gold.

What if Heirloomed items, no matter the level or generation of the user, are always affected by the upkeep rules?

The goal of Strategus battles shouldnt be to deprive your enemies of players, but to have full roster both sides and have the gear/tactics/strategy win the day rather than lack of merc support.

put an item limit on it - no 10k+ armors, no horses, no arbalest or something like that.

Normally noobs wouldnt be able to afford that and now he ycan use the gear they would use anyways but earn some extra cash

Everyone is complaining about upkeep , but as soon as someone give you the chance to avoid in some way upkeep , you whine.
If you are tired of level 25 , just dothe same.  Getting a character up to level 25 isn't that hard.
we should just lower it to level 23 or level 22

Personally, I hate upkeep.  I spend more time worrying about trying to just make a little cash than enjoying the game.  I still dont have any master looms, only a 2nd loom.  I have low end gear all the time other than that and still only make a tiny amount of money after HOURS of playing.  Used to be that I had the hoe of playing and being able to use any gear like anyone else.  Now... seems like Ill hafta play 10 years to just play middle gear.  (I know, some of u will flame about complaining, but I remember when this game had no upkeep and people could choose anything... play tank or play fast, and it was just fun, not a HUGE grinding slog).

You will make a tiny amount of money if you're using equipment with a lot of upkeep. Upkeep is everything, really. It is the major cost that never goes away.

The gear you need is a relatively cheap 1 time cost (for non-heirloomed items). You can go in very cheap peasant gear for a few hours to earn the money you need for whatever gear you want. You should earn about 20 or 30k in about 5 hours. So it's only a grind to get the equipment you want if you insist on playing with a high upkeep set of equipment.
