Anyone ever seen The Man from Earth? Great little movie. It's sorta like listening to someone read a book, I found my self captivated.
It's a good movie, has nothing to do with sci-fi though i think.

P.S. i enjoyed Monsters for the atmosphere and cause i digged the main heroine =)

You have to reevaluate your opinion on the term sci-fi then ;).

Monsters is an alright flick as well, bit drawn out at some points though.

Gotta mention Starship Troopers! Love that flick, mostly because of the book though, if you've read the book the movie is way cooler :) I'm sure most have seen it at some point though.

Well if we're gonna talk about old movies, I have to mention my favourite sci-fi movie, Verhoeven's Robocop :)

Meh, how did I forget Starship Troopers.

Just don't watch the 2nd or 3rd movie. Unless you're looking for comedy.

Yeah definitely do NOT watch any of the follow-ups, even the one with Casper whats his name redoing his role.

Tv Show - Farscape

Never been much for Farscape, watched the first season and then turned away from it.
The lead was alright in Stargate SG-1 though but no RDA :)

Check out the Star Trek motion pictures.

However I warn you, the 4th one "The Voyage Home" is a bit... Different. A true trekkie can endure, but non-trekkies will be put to strain.

Anyway, Search for Spock and Wrath of Khan were epic!

Solaris, the book. Not your everyday scifi, but one of the best books I ever read. Uses scifi like it should be used, to challenge the incomprehensible, not only reflect todays society, with more chrome.

I feel none of the films based on Solaris has ever lived up to it, although since I think Tarkovsky was the greatest director ever, I think his Solaris 1972 is a great great great film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seCRhjrLNy4

His other film sci fi Stalker (1979) Is the best film EVER MADE. End of discussion, hands down. Just don't watch it while tired, cause you might fall asleep. xD

Starship Troopers is also a great! I'm a fan of War of the Worlds.. The musical soundtrack, the 1957 and spielbergs version. Of course if it's still in cinemas near you, go and see Melancholia by great danish director Lars Von Trier.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_xsm46s2Gg

2001 a space odyssey holding hands with Stalker.

Alien - The first one. The ultimate in space horror. Also Event Horizon is awesome.
First season of LEXX I got on VHS xD
Monsters from last year or so.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njeofv4dr9Q

Also Khorin why dont u mention upcoming chocolate chip cookies in Space finnish collaborative film IRON SKY!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lJAw_BtM2g

Some of these are perhaps most interesting to people who consider themselves intellectuals, or have a desire to see something new.. (I marked them in RED) To enjoy these films, you have to be comfortable with being an active viewer.. That means actually thinking while watching the film. All the slow pace and space is there for you to use actively.

'"Fucking right, not us. You know how they breed contemporary humans from a thirteen? You fucking domesticate them. Same thing they did with wolves to make them into dogs... You Select for fucking tameness, Marsalis. For lack of aggression, and for compliance. And you know how you get that? ...You get it by taking immature individuals, individuals showing the characteristics of fucking puppies.

Area thirteen, man. It's one of the last parts of human brain to develop, the final stages of human maturity. The part they bred out twenty thousand years ago because it was too dangerous to their fucking crop-growing plans. We aren't the variant, Marsalis - we are the last true humans.

We're the only thing that scares those people because we won't comply, we won't stay infantile and go out and play nice in their plastic fucking world."
