Don't be a naive peasant...jk.  But they are thoroughly enmeshed in the politics of Strategus so the idea of doing neutral mercing for others is a no-go... maybe if they hadn't gone for dead center of the map where the bitterest fighting and largest number of clans are vying for land that idea might have worked or thye could have vassalized themselves to Grey Order (I mean 22nd, sorry) and just asked not to have to fight anyone as vassal in return for discounted services to their overlord.

If they want to have a "nation" of troops, they're going to have to deal with all the shit a nation deals with.  They're going to have enemies, they're going to have people plotting against them, and they have allies.  With all this shit they kind of stop being mercenaries and start being a nation.

Some things to say:

1. First battle was really cool. Sure we lost more tickets but probably most of attackers will need more tickets then defenders in future.
2. Second battle was silly. We tried to capture all spawns and probably this cant work if there are enough defenders regardless if they wear armor or not.

Plus they lost the 700 men armies they put in each village as well as 1500 of those that attacked black rose, 550 mana rmy they put in Ushkuru - so about 3450 men along with the amazing gear in Ushkuru amounts to roughly 400K worth of gear.  It was  abit of a pyhrric victory on both sides ... and now the Russians smell vodka.

HRE are probably being called this because they are allegedly on the Merc TS negotiating passage through their lands before they decided to attack them without warning or provocation, which seems the legitimate grounds for it being called a backstab.
