Tips for Money saving/making loadout?

Hey folks, since upkeep was raised up, I just can't get money on my bit costly loadout.

So I decided to set-up a cash saving set of gear until I get some reserve money to pay the cash,
at this rate I'd go bankrupt if I'd use my traditional set.

Here's what I've come up with so far.

Only thing I'm not sure about, is the weapon. I don't want to make a big compromise. I want to hurt people.
Problem is that my Elegant Poleaxe is out of the picture, I don't want to lose all my earnings in one round. That way I won't make cash.

I've been thinking about some cheap polearm, what are you using? Want some feedback here. :3

Long axe? Maybe a cheaper hat too?

From what I've read, you have basically the same 18/18 full six build as my main.

Battlefork is awesome. Like the awlpike, but better. Might as well take a difficulty 2 or 3 shield too.

Long Hafted spiked mace is pretty good still. Not as crazy as it used to be, but the knockdown is useful.

Iron staffs are fast and the knockdown is cheap.

Pikes and such are cheapish and effective, good for support if you are toning your loadout down.

Personally I get the most fun out of the Battlefork.

I think the helmet is way too expensive for the protection it offers, also take the leather gloves instead of mail mittens.

Thank you for the answers.

Thanks for the suggestion, I bought a Long Axe, and I like it so far. I'll test it in real melee combat a bit later.

Yeah I use that kind of build, but after cavalry got raped I'm thinking of dropping the 18/18, and doing something else..
(Maybe not, but I'll see.)

I have a long spear, it can be useful.

Whoa, that Battlefork is some serious thingy there. I'd like to use something that kills shields, so I bought a Long Axe first.
It's so... Manly.  8-)

I think the helmet is way too expensive for the protection it offers, also take the leather gloves instead of mail mittens.

Leather Gloves is a nice suggestion, I'll buy 'em.

And the helmet became my tradition over time, don't really know another one that fits me. Any ideas?  :)

I've never played a server where people split up as much or as often as on EU1.  No wonder range is having a field day.

My weapon of choice is The Long Hafted Blade

Check the stats.
(click to show/hide)

But when I grind I use the Military Schythe.

Compare with the LHB.
(click to show/hide)

So not that much different. Same damage and length.

Now check the prices.

SAAAAAY WHAAAT!?!?  Still. The Military Scythe. Nice weapon for grinding :D
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

If it's style you're talking about, I think you've pretty much covered it, the leather boots attach nicely with the blue tunic over mail leggings, and the faceplate has the blue headband that matches the color theme you have.

But aye, others have a point, the helmet's repair fee will not be suitable for gold saving, Kettle Hat/Helmet or Helmet with Neckguard would fit nicely, I believe, Mail Coif as the last gold saving resort (It's.. well.. ugly)

use QML to increase multiplier, reduce the burden of upkeep, and enforce leeching justice!!

Die in a fire. <3
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

Hmm, you have a point. And I like Kettle hats too!

Too bad that our Mail Coif is ugly. It's so bad-ass looking IRL and in Movies.  :?

Made around 250k during my last gen, mainly using the military scythe. Such a cheap yet powerful weapon.

First advice : never take a cheap helmet. Having medium/little head armor means being oneshotted when you are hit by melee weapons in the head. Headhits get massive damage bonuses, even more when they are of pierce type.

Second, I think the ironstaff is the cheapest polearm that is still very effective. You can trololo fakepeasant with the scythe and tear overconfident people up though, it's more fun.

The mail mittens are good for tunic over mail, if you look at the price, it's more effective to use the mail mittens and this than leather gloves and a better armor.

Spears? They only do good pierce damage, though. Still they're spamaliscious and cheap (don't bother with the more expensive ones, they all do almost the same amount of pierce damage).

Long spear, of course, if you like that brand of bundle of sticksry.

As others have suggested, the iron staff is pretty cool. Blunt damage, knockdown, and cheap too!
