Revert to the old armor soak values

New ones are terrible. Archers can now 1 shot people with a fair amount of consistently. The old values were fine, but the new system gave a huge buff to archers.

The armor/soak change was good. Archers ended up being a little too good with it. That means fix archer damage a little not throw it all out.
The melee aspect of it is working perfect and is amazing.

How exactly do the new soak/reduce values change melee?

less glances but less damage done. Damage is Normalized you could say.

I heard this was a subtle nerf to cut damage only, though.

The change actually decreased the chance to 1 or 2 shot armored stuff if it works as predicted.

The only situation I can imaging where archers/xbows gained max damage could theoretically be created against high speed cav with the shot speed decrease. With lower shot speed mount speed has a bigger impact if an archer shoots an approaching horseman.

impact_speed = k * starting_speed
impact_damage = k^1.9 * normal_damage

Against armored stuff this effect should be small against the armor reduce buff effect.

However there migt be a backdoor we found in the last moment which allows us to change archers/xbows back to the old armor/soak values and keep the new ones for melee. It also could be the cause of the problem if there is one. I will check it out.

I guess that doesn't work well with the new arrow speed then, because even the archers are saying they are 1-2 shotting armored people.

Works fine for the melee guys at least, full plate players can no longer just ignore blocking. The archer 2 shotting problem can be fixed in other ways, i'm sure you'll work something out.
Maybe you are not bad, but you are a boring person. Well, that's the end of the matter.

Haven't noticed a problem with swords actually. Honestly, it's WAY better now with swords since I don't have to worry about glancing. 1h swords are especially good since they are so fast. You can take apart someone wearing plate easily.

i could do that aswell with my 8ps onehander....the problem is on lower PS values people were glancing too much, so instead of the guys who invest in PS to have edge, now you can go 9/30 and spam the shit out of anyone, bullshit

So are you saying it was cool to invest in PS to have an edge, but that people who invest in agi shouldn't have an edge?

I don't use an agi build personally, (21/15 fo' life) but it's about time agi builds got some love.

the thing is, if you didnt cared enuff to put at least 6PS, you could glance, game mechanic, period.
Now? I believe we will see loads of agi builds.

And yes, if i gimped my speed, i should have and endge over those who did not in terms of dmg and the ability to actually deal it (no glance). I played 2h sworder for like 8 generations, first the animation got screwed, i somehow adapted, but now with this there is no use in not going poles which deal blunt/pierce over cut swords.

What about the fact that I can't 1-hit-lance archers in gear less than or equal to the gambeson now? That almost makes cav redundant. With the unintentional damage increase of projectiles, we are less effective already, and now we can't even gank them. So we stab them, run off, and get 1-2 shotted and killed.
