It'd be great if people stopped pretending like we weren't all new players getting crushed by everyone once.  Plus usually every time we retire.  Giving new players some gold sounds a lot better than looms.  Gold lets them try out a variety of weapons and gear to find out what they like and want to loom.  It keeps their interest varied and explorative.

If you want new players, you give them a fun, good reason to play, not free candy.  Besides, I'm not sure why anyone would expect to get a substantial amount of new players.  The game is selling for pennies and everyone who has wanted to play it has played it.  You should be focused on retaining and energizing the playerbase you already have.

Horse throwing is worthless.  Horse archery is worthless.  I'm being one hit by everything wielded with two hands.  New players are apparently getting more looms to start with than I have.  Oh, and all the graphics are glitchy as all get out.

I just want to say I've been playing for like three years and don't have 4 +3 loomed items.

Well if the goal was to make sure they never get valor (or kills) then by all means nerf, but it's going to turn HA into more of a troll class than it already is just due to the sheer ineffectiveness against anything with armor or a shield.  Hence why it ought to be removed if you nerf it to the point of being pointless aside from trolling.

Might as well remove HA if you nerf them any more.  There's a reason no one plays them except at odd hours of the morning.

I just want to point out horses require a ridiculous amount of riding now over all and I decided to retire instead of stay HA.  Despite having just respeced into it.  It was that bad.  The only way you get kills is with headshots or by picking off weak targets.  Also kill stealing.  Riding a horse does help the ability to kill steal quite a bit.

AMATSUKA ADMIN 2014

I've been playing CRPG for a while now, but really am not part of the old guard.  I still consider myself a fairly new player who's learning how to be better all the time.  I think this helps because I've been around with the community long enough to care, but am still fresh and new enough not to be too cynical.

Another reason why I'd be a great admin is because when I was first getting started, there were a lot of players who abused me terribly.  I was vote kicked and team attacked constantly just because I was playing an unpopular build and I think that was pretty mean.  I'm resilient though and am usually in pretty good humor, so I kept playing, but I think a lot of new players at the time would have been turned off by the behavior.

Honestly, I think the CRPG community is a lot better these days.  I don't know what changed, but the same types of harassing behavior don't seem to occur with the same frequency as they used to.  Most times I play, I find people on NA rather agreeable and fair tempered.  I play all sorts of weird hours of the day like early mornings or when other people are working or sleeping.  That's because I take care of rental property and my hours are mostly dependent on if I feel like working and are often limited by the task.  Even when I have something to do, it usually means three hours of work and then I'm home again.  It varies a lot.

I also spend a lot of time online idling on different services and waiting for people to engage me so I can make money on the side.  So like, while I'm waiting, I tend to play CRPG.  I think it's a great game because I can turn it on, jump into some fun, and not have to worry about some obligation to keep doing it.  I often do anyhow, but the turn based nature keeps it so I can multitask.  It's basically the perfect kind of game for me.  Plus horses.

My record is pretty immaculate in my opinion.  I've never been banned before and I've only ever been kicked once by an admin.  He thought I was leeching, but I just ran out of rocks to throw.  It's an easy mistake though and I don't hold it against him.  I'm sure it's hard to make quick decisions.

I usually don't see a lot of rule breaking people on when I am these days, but if you wanted more of an admin presence during HA morning or other weird hours, I'd be around.  I'd be a pretty conservative admin and stick to the basic and obvious offenses.  Like leeching and teamkilling.  I don't like things that ruin the game for other people.

Anyhow, if you want help, give me a holler.

PS:  I'm at my computer a boat load even when I'm not playing.  So people could contact me in IRC if something was going down.

Let me clarify.  I didn't really mean to suggest an unblockable attack that dealt damage.  I meant a blockable attack that did damage, but was simple to execute instead of switching completely to another weapon.  This would only be possible with weapons where it was viable to make use of an offhand weapon such as when you're using a weapon which can be wielded one handed while having another, small, one handed weapon sheathed (e.g. katana/wakazashi combination).  I suggested the nudge button because I think it's detrimental to have too many buttons with different functions.

The point is that you just want to use your short weapon for a quick strike instead of making it your primary weapon.  You could even give it some kind of damage penalty if you thought it was too significant to give the full amount for an offhand attack.

Ama means bitch in Japanese.  Most people call me suka(сука) though which means bitch in Russian.  Amatsuka is spelled the same way tenshi is and means angel.  I'm okay with all of them.

Game Balance Discussion / Re: Your Opinion on Throwing Lances?
« on: October 02, 2013, 08:21:35 pm »
+3 lances have nearly the same melee stats as a +3 shortened spear. I think the only difference is one damage on the thrust more for the lances. They are decent melee weapons, very fast, but low damage and range, but fighting a high level melee char with them is usually not a good idea. If you (a melee guy) are getting beaten by a thrower using a lance, it is because the thrower was better than you, not because a +3 shortened spear with +1 pierce damage is an OP weapon.

As a ranged weapon, they're pretty crap. Innaccurate, slow, extremely low ammo and despite what some people say, most of your throws will not be one shots.

All in all, I think they're pretty balanced. I wouldn't give them more ammo, they're in a good place and are one of the more unique playstyles in the mod.

Throwing lances are prohibitively expensive.  Price them more reasonably and I think we can call them balanced.  A short spear costs 110 gold to maintain.  A throwing lance costs 567 gold to maintain.  A stack of 4 of them is impractical unless you're basically naked and on foot.  Furthermore, they're incredibly stat intensive limiting the builds able to take advantage of them.  Unlike a short spear, for example.  What you get in exchange is a pretty inaccurate, slow, ranged weapon with one shot that will occasionally kill a target.  Shielders chuckle at it.  Occasionally someone in plate will walk around with three sticking out of him.  Basically the only reason to throw "throwing lances" at the moment is for laughs, you don't really want or need it, or you are about to die.

A thrower will get more mileage by taking a short spear and a few stacks of throwing spears.
