Gen 0 and my highest is level 29.  Too grindy and I get bored :)

I'd like to see a reduction in the grind from 1-31 so new and casual players don't have such a laborious journey in catching up.  This will help marginalize the power curve, help new players to maintain interest because they'll be able to see better progress more quickly, and make skill more of the determining factor.

I think the key to games like this one where PvP and Progression are heavily focused, you don't want the player (especially new players) to feel like they're hitting brick walls that prevent them from feeling like they're competitive since that's pretty bad for retaining new players.  Otherwise, the concepts behind the current systems are interesting, unique, and fun but they're implementation is extremely prohibitive where new players are concerned.

In the end, Grind is fine when it's also tempered with a design that creates a larger and more competitive player community.

As a new player, the only thing that puts me off a little bit is the grind.  Everything else I either like or can deal with.

However, I don't feel like rewards should be contribution based since this would mean that new players and casual folks would fall further behind while the "heroes" would accelerate faster and faster therefore creating a very slippery slope.  I like the idea of static rewards based on time with small bonuses for performance.

Sent.  Thank you very much!

They sell looms, banner stack to get good multipliers, go naked every once in a while.

Seems like new players like myself should keep their loom points since we have none.  How does banner stacking work?

I just started playing a week ago and I find the disadvantages I am facing practically impossible to overcome.  I've been able to put together a midline kit (Scale Mail, Huscarl Shield, Norse War Sword) but at this point the maintenance costs are making it hard to turn a profit and eventually acquire better gear.  I'm not sure how folks are able to afford to buy their expensive equipment let alone maintain it.

I agree.  My character is wearing mostly cheap armor (scale mail, leather boots, and other mediocre items) along with a Norse War Sword and Huscarl shield.  It's very hard to turn a profit.  However, I see folks running around in some very expensive gear every round...

Players can make their own decisions on what they think will help the team to win. Without the threat of losing gold/xp for losing people will instead not help their team mates. They will make decisions that suit themselves rather than the team

It also creates a competitive environment because there is something to lose and gain, which to me makes the game more fun

Again, this kind of system will punish new players who are just starting out.

As a newer player, I think the current XP/Gold system is okay but needs to be improved as it caters far too much to older players.  Remember, whatever system is decided upon needs to take into account new or more casual players so they aren't left too far behind.  Being non-competative is absolutely no fun and a game where new players cannot hope to bridge the gap is one that will not grow very well; the community with atrophy in an unhealthy way.

A system based on personal performance is not a good solution because the divide between those who play a lot and those who are new or play casually becomes too large too quickly.  I like the idea of a system where the base rewards are significant and consistent with small bonuses for personal performance.

I'm not sure about 1h/Shield right now.  When I am facing just about anyone with a 2-handed weapon, if i block with the shield (or parry their attack with my weapon) I can almost never counter fast enough before they're swinging at me again and land their strikes usually resulting in my death.  My character might not be leveled up enough (currently level 21 13str/14agi wpf 126 or something).

Conversely, it seems like these folks are capable of blocking every single one of my attacks even at extremely odd angles. Is this just a result of practice or something else?

Should I just reroll 2h or polearm?  All I see are these on the battlefield and they seem incredeibly overpowered

I do have one question, I noticed that some players were able to shield bash or perform a slamming strike with their two handed weapon.  How is this done?

Awesome.  Thanks guys.  I look forward to playing with you .

Thank you!  I really appreciate the help!

Going forward, as I upgrade my stuff would it be a good practice to put my old gear in the armory?  I'm mindful of filling guild storage with junk but I want to contribute also :)

Will do.

Any suggestions for a Sword/Board concept?  I've seen mostly 2h and polearms but I want to do something different.  I don't have much in the way of gear currently.  Some Scale Mail, a crappy round shield, and a falchion with less range than my fists :p
