I think kiting archers were a problem in the past since:
-The kiters were much higher in level
-Dealt some of the best damages for their class, especially with the wpf bug and armor penetration
-No flags that prevented delaying/kiting playstyles (large reason for the recent weight reductions, but the first point especially remained a large problem until now)

Now is as good a time as any to be a little more experimental since builds are not as set in stone.

Kiting become a problem only after slot system was implemented. And kiting was predicted as most expected consequence of this decision even before.

I would head-desk if I were stupid enough to use that crap but that's not the issue here. That would mean you're complaining about not having enough high-tier bows/models to play with.

It's not about stupid you enough or not. It's about half of ranged equipment, that is useless now. Head-desk a little if you want, but tell me first - what a role you propose to any 1 slot bow except yumi, and arrows\barbed arrows?

So, instead people paying upkeep for high tier armors should pay for "not working protection" but being damaged by a tiny 4PD bow?
When I play in peasant gear with a wooden stick, I don't expect to be able to do damage to a tin can. But you want the archery equivalent to kill? You wanna tell me that would be balanced?

If your Wooden stick will eat 2 slots, cost 4k gold, weigh 10 kg, but still doing less damage to opponent than practice dagger - will you call it balance?

If the issue is kiting, cap the run speed. If a character has a point in PD, cap athletics at 6. Problem solved.
Don't destroy archery for everyone.

Gimmy 0 slot quiver with 10-12 barbed arrows and reasonable weight, and I'll play my hybrid again. I'm not interested in 0slot bodkins or tatar quiver, but low tier arrows must have niche.

His point is that unlike Horse Archers, a lancer can't hurt you when it's kiting, it needs to get close to hurt you and risks dying.

If a lancer 'kited endlessly' you'd kick it for delaying and noone could even dispute that to be a fair kick, whereas HAs in theory are still 'fighting' as they do it.

All you need is kite a little to recharge couch timer. This just send us back to Killing Potential argument.

If lancer cavalry kites endlessly, it's killing potential is literally zero.

It has both killing potential and kite ability. Also charge, knockdown and ability to use coachable weapons.

Playstyles that can endlessly kite, will not be allowed to have the killing potential of other classes.

What about lancer cavalry?


18 strength, 5IF, wearing the Ranged Leather +3 (30 body armor) and I die with 2-4 random arrows.
That seems fair enough to me.

Right now archers need to actually pick a proper target and aim carefully for it due to less damage on tanks and less arrows. It takes more skill. Skill that is demonstrated by "real" archers like Steevee, Bagge and Algarn (despite Algarn not admitting that he keeps topping the scoreboard often enough).
When a guy moves slow and has high armor, either don't shoot him or you better hit his head. Like it's supposed to be.
When a guy moves really fast and has light armor, that is your target... and he will die in 3-4 proper hits.

Shooting at tanks and then complaining that they actually do tank, contrary to what we had before, does not make sense.

Personally, I don't think that ranged players, including myself as Semi-Xbow, should be able to get valor due to the low-risk that you run as a ranged player.

You can have 30 body armour with overall weight of 3. Doubt that this can be even called Armor. Also I was sure that low tier bows and arrows must have their own niche in this game. Now archery start with Rus or Longbow and bodkins, everything else now is pure heavy-weight decoration.

Called hybridising. Much the same way melee is told to get shields to counter ranged, now ranged actually has to not rely 100% on ranged.

ranged\melee hybrid ability was gimped already with slot system.

Random idea

Make quivers 2 slot but put the bodkins at 25 shots and then go up from there.

Then make the short bow a 0 slot bow.

Frank, your idea just killed mine a\2h build with horn bow\yumi and real 2h weapon.

Any sense to revive my archer\2h hybrid? Well, I can wait for another year or two.

10 arrows per quiver? Make quiver 0 slot then. This 1kg arrows is just a joke now. Arrow that weigh more than 4 daggers, well done guys.

1 question, is it possible to run crpg on mac with VMware fusion and win7\64? Looks like game do not work properly with this setup. I can run vanilla warband still though.
