Wait you can make these threads without having the little NA admin tag or whatzit? I've been waiting here since July for that tag so I could make my own admin thread where people would shittalk and make fun of me.

Anyways congrats, don't go inactive like the rest of us badmins.

I'm pretty sure that that is the Undertaker...

But it's moves like that and Kevin Nash's 'Power-bomb' that quickly ruined the childhood spectacle of wrestling... That much dude junk in your face even for entertainment purposes... Gay.

Also it's not bad to be gay... But being straight and slamming a bunch of dude junk into your face is all sorts of homo-erotic.

Unless you're cool with that.

I don't know where I stand on this conversation anymore.
Damn u PC Principle.

The largest health controversy of the late 80's and 90's, wasn't the rampant HIV in the porn industry, it was the devastating Pink Eye that so many of our brave wrestler's suffered from! All those courageous squared circle heroes providing us with hours of entertainment by shoving their faces in places that make road kill smell like fresh flowers!!!!

I support this new-fangled system of human judgement.

See, if you're actually attracted to dudes, acting gay is all good. But if you aren't....that shit ain't acceptable.

Pretty much. Occasionally on weekends if I can find the time, but two kids at home keeps me pretty busy. As does work, so that too is a if I have the time kind of basis. I played Friday for a good chunk of time and yesterday as well. Today I've only been able to reply on here but have left steam up in case someone really needs to reach an admin.

I feel yah... whenever I'm home from work the last thing I really wanna do is sit on my lonesome playing some vidya. But it is a nice last resort to have if all the irl friends are busy. And unfortunately I don't have any current gen consoles, MAYBE I'll be picking up a ps4 in the near future if the crash bandicoot remasters are at least half as good as the original.  :)

Xbox has always had inferior exclusives compared to ps. The only good system microsoft made was the 360, and even then the exclusives were still mostly better on ps3. Halo was great when it was new and revolutionary, nowadays it's the same-old-same-old.

B-but... that requires going out in public!

Also I'm visiting my friend in DC this weekend and he said he's gonna buy the remastered crash beforehand, so I'll be able to playtest it then to see if it'll be worth buying a whole entire system for. There are definitely other games I'd buy but none that are "must buys" just yet. Now, if only last of us 2 would launch soon...

Get of yer basement yarrr!!!

It'll be just like the old crash bandicoot's for PS1 just with better graphics. I bought the kingdom hearts remix 2.5 or something to that effect, which was all the games just remastered for PS4 and while it looks awesome and there's practically no load screens, it's still the same game just with shinier paint.

Yeah I'm just worried it'll somehow fail to capture the exact same feeling of the old crash. New graphics is obviously one huge change, but they also changed the sounds, made the game easier since they felt it was too challenging in certain parts (that's half the fun ffs!)... basically, they're doing everything they can to make it potentially fail to be what every old fan wants it to be, an exact remake with only the graphics changed. Since they had to start from scratch on a whole new engine the very core gameplay might even feel off. I've got an idea, why don't you buy it, let me know if it's any good, then sell me your ps4 complete with all good games. Seems fair to me. 200 bucks, starting bid.

Still waiting, fuckboi.

Never bought it, realized I didn't really care about replaying crash bandicoot. I mean shit dude, I was like 18 or so when I played the originals on PS1 and they were good then. I don't want to tarnish my view of it with a reboot and shinier things.

Zelda won my games to buy and dedicate the next few months to. On a side note, the switch is pretty fucking cool and I'm enjoying the shit out of it.
Title: Re: [NA] Bronto
Post by: Jona on September 20, 2017, 08:20:26 pm
Arms was decent fun for a little bit... but being that I myself don't own a switch (and I'm not the biggest fan of really long singleplayer games anyways) zelda didn't really appeal to me. Still waiting on the new mario game and something like an actually new mario kart (instead of the most recent one which was just a reboot) or smash bros to consider buying it for myself. Switch just needs more games yo.

Also fwiw I ended up playing crash for a little bit early this summer, was pretty fun. It feels 99% the same, but the physics were changed ever so slightly, which made some of the hard platforming aspects even harder. Only got through the first game in the limited time I had with it, so not sure how #2 and 3 stack up to the originals.

Man I grew up playing zelda so I had to continue the tradition I guess. So far this one and A Link to the Past (Super nintendo) are my favorite ones. Still break out the ol' SNES when I get the itch.

I've been playing a lot of BF1 on PS4 with some real life friends and am gearing up for some COD WWII which I played the beta of and it was awesome. I liked the more arcade type feel it has vs. BF1. I can jam out like 4 different maps, murder tons of noobs, and have a great time in about 20 minutes. Sometimes that's all I've got. Not sure how you feel about FPS games but you probably think they're shit like most uber nerds out there.

Lol, no "realistic" fps has really scratched that itch for me since bad company 2. Played that game to death and still would if it had populated enough servers. Been playing overwatch every now and again with some friends since none of us really like where the cod/bf games have been headed in recent years. In short, I like the fps genre, just don't like any modern ones. We really need a relatively (if not entirely) unknown studio to come out of nowhere with a brand new fps IP... enough of these cod and bf games that they pump out year after year, gotta shake things up a bit.

They should've had multiplayer in Far Cry Primal, maybe I'd have bought it then. Would've been awesome cavemanning people in pvp.

Are there any games coming out that you're looking forward to?

Personally, I've been watching Kindgom Come Deliverance, but it's starting to look like shit combat. I'll probably scoop the new Mario when it comes out and I've already got Red Dead 2 on preorder if/when it comes out. Other than that, I guess the new Star Wars Battlefront looks ok-ish but I wasn't that impressed with the first one this gen so the bar is pretty low.

Red Dead 2 is gonna be awesome so check that out. I loved Gun on PS2, which I think is the precursor to the red dead series or at least was an excellent enough "open world" western that laid the foundation for it.

Yeah, for the first one as well, yet to be ported to pc and probably never will get one at this point.

Or you can just use a controller on a pc for any game you want and you can still enjoy your masterrace fps and resolution (and free online play). The only thing a console is good for are its exclusives.

While true, sometimes I just like playing a console better. I grew up with them and PC's were never affordable so we didn't get one until I was about 10 (early 90's). Prior to my family being able to afford one, I gamed on NES and occasionally an Atari so I tend to lean that way.

I like console because everyone is playing on the same system. Gets rid of the problem of one player having an uber-pc and being able to win simply because of that.

Brings a good level playing field to some of the more competitive games.

I grew up with consoles as well, definitely got a soft spot for them. Been seriously considering breaking down and buying a ps4 sometime soon... really just waiting to see if there'll be any good deals around the holidays and if/when last of us 2 gets a release date. That said, if all the games I'd buy as soon as I got a ps4 (last of us, uncharted, crash bandicoot, other exclusives I'm forgetting atm) were released on PC, I wouldn't bother with the ps4. Only gonna get it for the singleplayer experience cuz fuck paying for online gaming. Also no one has ever won because they have an uber pc. If your pc can't run a game well enough that's on you... either turn down the settings or just don't buy games you can't run. If I am able to game at 60 fps full resolution, someone with an uber pc gaming rig with 3 4k monitors running at 120 fps is not playing with much, if any, advantage. If I could barely run the game with a shaky 30 fps that lags whenever there is an explosion on screen, sure, I'm playing with a disadvantage and sucks to be me. The only real downside to gaming online with a pc is hacks are typically more abundant, however modern games are pretty good about policing that.

[This is now a nostalgia trip into our console-loving youth thread]

I went from NES straight to PS2 for similar reasons. From Tetris to 007 Nightfire in a single leap.

Idk what is weirder, making such a huge jump, or just going completely out of order like myself. My order of exposure looks something like this (note I didn't own all these, just played them at friends'/family's houses)

Gameboy pocket > ps1 > genesis > NES > commodore 64 > N64 > SNES(?) > gameboy advance > gamecube > ps2 > pc > xbox 360 > ps3

I didn't own the NES, played at a family friend's house when they used to babysit me. Had to pull it out of a draw and set it up every time I was visiting. Little did I know that in the dusty old box behind it was a SNES. All I knew at the time was that it "was basically the same thing but they had far fewer games for it, so why bother learning how to set up and use this completely different (and evidently inferior) console?" Only ended up playing the SNES once by accident when my brother set up the wrong one. Unfortunately that was one of the last times I was ever over at their house, was getting too old for babysitting . At the time I was all excited I was finally able to stay home by myself, but now I'm wishing I kept going over there and played other NES/SNES games than mario and the occasional TMNT.

Tl;dr: If anyone manages to get their hands on a snes classic edition gieb 2 me pls and ty.

Jona,

I literally have an original SNES from my childhood that still works. I just unplugged it the other day because it was taking up too much room in my tv stand. I had to make room for the switch. I'd send it but I still play it every once in a while. It's a great system.

To keep in line with the direction of the thread my video game experience has gone as follows:

ATARI - NES - Gameboy - Sega Genesis - Panasonic 3DO (Yeah i was really fucking cool) - SNES - N64 - PS2/PC - Xbox360/PS3/PC - PS4/Xbox OneS/Switch

Now I barely play PC games because life is too busy and it's easier for me to boot up a round or two on a console than it is on my computer.

Asheram,

I might grab shadow of war or wait until it goes down in price first. I just finished Shadow of Mordor a few weeks ago. It was on PSPlus for 4 bucks a few months ago. Decent game, not sure I'd drop 60 bucks out of the gate on it though. but then again, if it's better than the first one, it'll be worth it.

Yeah man, the snes has so many sleeper classics. I played a few in recent years on emulators, but the experience just ain't the same. I could easily enough buy an OG snes, however all the good games are undoubtedly hella expensive nowadays, and I'd have to hook it up to one of my old CRTs so that the aspect ratio doesn't get all fucky on a modern HD tv. The new snes mini is perfect since it has a bunch of great games (missing many classics, though), so I wouldn't need to break the bank for each individual game, and best of all it has hdmi output (it's also hella small, so perfect for squeezing it in somewhere between all your other consoles). Also, if it is anything like the nes mini, it'll be easily hacked in no time allowing for infinite games to be added, like chrono trigger, earthbound, tmnt, etc. If only the scalpers didn't insist on selling them for double the going rate I'd have snatched one the moment it came out. Hopefully the online stores get restocked soon.

I'd just keep an eye out for one. I'm sure by xmas they'll be available. I had an original working copy of E.V.O. that I sold for 300 bucks because it is an extremely rare SNES game. So I'm holding on to the other "rare" games plus my original system and will see what happens as far as value is concerned.

Even without a snes to play it, I'd buy a copy of chrono trigger for a cool 10 bucks, should you ever be in a pinch. Throw in a signature of the illustrious Brontosaurus and it'll be worth at least double.

Luckily I hung onto my N64 and I play that up at the cottage quite a bit. Got Super Smash, Mario Party 3, the New Tetris (excellent version of tetris), Rogue Squadron, Mario 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium, and Mario Kart.

Just missing a couple that I would like to own. Still have to find Mario Tennis, Goldeneye, Donkey Kong 64, and StarFox 64

oh dude, Rogue Squadron was a great game. You also need to grab a copy of Shadow of the Empire, one of my favorite star wars games back in the day. Starfox 64 was also amazing, and everyone should have a copy of Goldeneye. What about Turok dude, that game was awesome on N64. DAMMIT JAMES, I'm going to have to go to a little retro shop we've got in the mall and go buy all that now...nostalgia is a hell of a drug...

EDIT: James you can pick up Goldeneye for about 17 bucks on gamestop's website. I know they are like buying from the devil him/herself but it's Goldeneye and worth the risk.

That feel when you tried to play your n64 but it was so weird to try and use, you wondered how the hell you used it before.

I tried to play mario kart a couple years ago and I had lost all knowledge of how to use the n64 controller. It was like magic to me at that point. Using PC and xbox/ps controllers made me weak.

I feel you Taser. I just like how nintendo comes up with what is basically the predecessor to modern gaming controllers with the SNES, then is just like FUCK THIS, let's make some weird ass shit!!! We're gifted with the N64 controller, which is just a monster, they immediately follow that up with the Gamecube controller, like WTF and then we get the Wii remote plus dongle joystick! The fucking WiiU brick starts to, at least, resemble a modern controller. Finally with the switch they're getting back to a more normal controller scheme, after like 30 years...I know you can buy "pro" controllers for the last three, but the point is you shouldn't have to. Just give a normal controller right out the gate not some gimmicky piece of shit.

A version of it came with the Battelfront Bundle PS4 I bought. It was Star Wars: Racer Revenge, along with Super Star Wars, Bounty Hunter (PS2 Jengo Fett FTW), and Jedi Starfighter. A pretty sweat deal if you ask me.

Not too shabby. I never played the sequel to podracer, but from what I heard it doesn't hold a candle to the original. It isn't unplayable or anything, just simply can't top such a classic. I could really go for an HD remake of podracer if nothing else, as a complete reboot might be asking for too much since all Disney/Lucasarts wants is to get everyone hyped about their new trilogy atm.  I never actually played bounty hunter, despite trying to buy it countless times as a kid (was always sold out at my local gamestop). Is it something worth emulating or does it not really hold up too well? Jedi starfighter was the shit, though.

Hey man, no hating on the gc controller, that shit is my jam. It's also just 99% the same as any modern controller, with just a few different features (analog instead of digital triggers,  only has a bumper button (Z) on one side, right-side analog stick (C stick) is much smaller than most). Apart from that, the layout of the main buttons are similar enough that you don't really notice much of a difference going back and forth between that controller and something like an xbox/ps controller tbh. I find it less weird than re-adjusting to the differences in analog stick placement between xbox and ps controllers tbh.
Title: Re: [NA] Bronto
Post by: Bronto on October 05, 2017, 05:57:24 pm
The best feature of Bounty Hunter is dual targeting with two pistols. That was what made the game great for me. Also, you're Jengo Fett. Goddamn JENGO FETT. What's not to like? I tried playing it on the PS4 and my memories of it were way better than what it actually is now so I'd probably just avoid it at this point. The level designs are pretty ugly compared to today and while it was pretty innovative at the time, it didn't hold up well. Controls feel clunky and awkward and the game itself seems so simplistic. Don't even get me started on camera angles....

Yeah, sounds like a pretty "good" game that only becomes worse with age. Seems like I missed my window of opportunity on that one. Playing battlefront 2 as jango fett was probably more fulfilling anyways, other than the fact that HE DIDN'T HAVE DUAL PISTOLS and the one he did use was some generic shit that shot purple lasers.
Title: Re: [NA] Bronto
Post by: Bronto on October 05, 2017, 07:58:31 pm
I heard that. Most games don't hold up well when I revisit them and I'm left disappointed and wondering why I tainted the memory. Second best controllable Fett, is Boba in the latest Battlefront edition for this gen (not the one coming out in November) the one that came out like 2 or 3 years ago now?!?! Picking him as the hero and flamethrowing people is always a good time!
Title: Re: [NA] Bronto
Post by: Jona on October 05, 2017, 08:21:16 pm
Boba was also better than jango in the old bf2. It was a lot more satisfying shooting a burst rifle that could one-shot dudes than a single pew-pew pistol. Unfortunately both of their flamethrowers were a tad underwhelming as they had relatively low dps and took a whole clip to kill even your average footsoldier (not to mention a jedi could also block the flames with a lightsaber... cmon now). Really, any hero that wasn't a jedi was kinda underwhelming in that game, but I guess that's kinda how it should be anyways.

Mine are:
1. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Sega Dreamcast)
2. Tenchu 1 and 2 (stealth assassins for PS1)
3. Zelda (Link to the Past/Breath of the Wild for SNES/Switch)
4. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion (Xbox 360, the graphics fucking blew my mind when I first played it, then I couldn't stop RIP life for about a year and a half)
5. Fallout 4 (Maybe IDK on PS4)

So many to choose from and this list could change at any time. I love too many video games and realized that as I made the list. I could easily sub in Jak and Daxter series (PS2) anywhere in there, as well as Kingdom Hearts (PS2), Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2) shamefully The Emperor's New Groove (PS1), Crash Bandicoot (PS1), Super Mario World (SNES), All the Super Star Wars (SNES), Super Street Fighter 2 (SNES), Bad Dudes (NES), Ninja Gaiden (NES), Super Mario Brothers 3 (NES), Skate or Die (NES), Contra (NES) Shinobi (Sega), Vector Man (Sega), Mortal Kombat 2 (Sega), Anything with the X-Men and women loved that shit (Sega),Shockwave series (3DO), Muhammed Ali Boxing (3DO), Star Fighter (3DO), plus all the games I've played so far for this gen I've enjoyed such as Recore (Xbox 1 S), Viking Squad (PS4), Battlefield 1 (PS4), etc..I could go on and on and on...

Oh man Asheram I totally spaced on Metal Gear Solid 1. That game was fucking amazing. I remember getting the first level on a demo disk that you used to get with random shit and I played the fuck out of it until I could buy the game lol. Also, I'm glad someone else has played Drakengard! Calling your dragon whenever and laying waste to entire armies was amazing. I didn't realize, until I googled it yesterday, that they actually have made sequels to it that I've never played. I'm sure they're shit now but I can't say a part of me doesn't want to try them!

James, after seeing your list, we've played a lot of the same games and gears of war 2 is great. Used to play that with EarthDefenseForce(crpg player RIP) on xbox live. Also Modern Warfare 2 was a sweet game and how could I forget Red Dead Redemption.

I'm surprised no one has brought up Madden, tecmo Bowl, or NBA Jam to fill the sports void. (All great games).

Well actually it was a joke but you are right tho, played it a god damn long time myself.

I do love the Feed the Beast modpacks, the team is still actively making them and some are ridiculously difficult.
For those who didnt check them out yet, Mindcrack and Direwolf modpacks are the thing you need in your life if you like minecraft, advanced logistics, and an enourmous amount of additional content.
Adds energy/electricty system from many different generators. hundreds of new metals, shards for magic indcutions, hundreds of new railtracks, cards, even train automation possible. Hundreds of new materials, alternativ crafting ways, treefarms, bee farms, bioenergy, fuel system, hundreds of new weapons and armor, power armor types, exo skeletons, jetpack, running boots, falling boots. jumping boots, lasers, portal cannon (yes THE portal cannons), dangerous and difficult nuclear reactors, quarries, different pipes to transport and sort items or fluids (there are hundreds of different fluits). Youre basically able to automatically set quarries(64x64 size), provide them with energy, pipe out all the mined items, sort them into chests, melt the ores, trash the garbage, automatically craft items. If you wanna be a magician instead, go for it, theres a few mods about mastering the art of summoning, crowd control and elemental spells. You better want to be a hunter of rare beasts? go for it, hundreds of good looking mobs, and there are like 2 extra dimensions iirc, providing new stuff, new animals, and sometime end bosses like hydras, giant worms or wizzards/witches in huge pre spawned jinxed mansions. There is so much stuff that the friend I played with and I found out after like 500 hours that there is a tiny mod which lets you craft a rocket, and this rocket gets you into space and on the moon surface. We didnt know before, we did have to find out everything ourself. This is how complex this modpacks are. requires beefy PC (mine is dying rip). If I caught your interest msg me, we are definitely planning to play it again!

My randomly written top 5:

1: M&B - modpacks, cRPG, native multiplayer - overall probably my best gaming experience.
2: Borderlands 2 - I normally dislike shooters in general, but this game provides more dark humour and memes / second then any 4chan board does. One of the absolute best EVER. I love everything: the characters, the graphics, the weapons, the quests, the story, the easter eggs, the DLC's. 10/10 on every category, hands down.
3: Direwolf20 and Mindcrack - similar minecraft modpacks, thousands of new items. explained above!
4: Factorio - coop fun of the highest level, again, mods mods mods!
5: Gothic 1 - one of my first games, still one of the best. brutal, funny, scary, gothicy. No other game since then managed to provide a game atmosphere like this.

Other games which could make it into the list easily:

Lord of the Rings: Online - still my absolut favorite MMORPG out there. Community is becoming too small currently, only a few merged servers left, and players on high lvls minmaxing the shit out of the mechanics, so sadly I only play it on lower levels anymore, and of course roleplaying! Also this game and its class "Guardian" is the origin of my love for tanky classes. Always picking the most tanky class in any game since then.

Age of Empires II - classic

Black & White 2 - It doesnt run on my win 10, looking for a new laptop currently, and a criterium is: it needs to be able to run B&W2.

HawX 2 - I love aircrafts, this game is about Aircrafts.

Crysis 1 + warhead - Played when it was released, I remember when pc magazines went apeshit about the superior graphics quality. Had to play on lowest settings... Still, one of the very few shooters I played and probably still would play again.

Gothic 2 - part II of the legendary legacy

Gothic 3 - a bit differnt from the first 2 which used the same engine and the same coding in general, BUT, imo not worse. It is still a decent playable game I think, the bugs are real indeed but the rest of the game makes up for it. Finest open world sandbox RPG from the golden era. And I mean, REALLY open world, you could start with your peasant clothes. Swim over the ocean to the north, run around all trolls and orks, up the paths to the hills, find the magicans tower, stab him. END. I mean, you'd probably very likely die, but its possible, theoretically.

Battle of Middle earth 2 + Angmar edition + edain modpack - probably the best lan party game for all Lotr fans.

OpenTTD - very oldschool logistic economy game, awesome with friends!

Yeah Cassi I'd be down to play some modded Minecraft with you some time! Just PM server info and all that jazz and I'll see what I can do.

Also, flying games are great games and Hawx 2 was awesome. had that for PS3 and played the shit out of it. I also enjoyed the entire Shockwave series for 3DO, which is a flying game mixed with war of the worlds. Since then, nothing has really captured my interest quite as much. I like the flying game modes in the new Battlefront but they aren't as good as Battlefront 2 so idk. Hopefully the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 will fix what was broken and make flying great again! I tried Air conflicts which was OK but I wouldn't waste time on it. Other than that I haven't really looked at flying games for the current gen.

The flying mechanics were overall pretty darn solid in battlefront 2, a shame that the game mode(s) weren't as fun. You could only play capture the flag, assault (a race to destroy the enemy flagship, which is easier done from the INSIDE), or deathmatch, which just felt lacking. Woulda been hella sweet if there was a team deathmatch/assault combination where each side had a limited number of troops (respawns) and while the overall objective was to wipe out the enemy tickets, crippling their mothership would be highly recommended since if you leave it be it'll continue pummeling your fighters nonstop. So in other words, it'd just be an actual space battle between two flagships and their fleets. I haven't seen any space battle gameplay for the new battlefront 2 yet, but if it is as dope as the original but just a tad more polished, I may have to buy the game just for that alone.

I liked that there were capital ships in Battlefront 2, but I preferred the variety of ships and basic flight mechanics in Battlefront 1. Dodging missiles was manual, not a preset combo that you did by pressing the 'dodge' key. The fact that X-wings had photon torpedoes but Tie-Fighters didn't was hell from a balance perspective but made it much more interesting IMO (and a little more authentically Star Wars). Also lasers from vehicles were chunky as hell in that game and could really decimate massed infantry, you needed rockets for that in the 2nd game.

The assault mode was disappointing in Battlefront 2 as you say. In singleplayer you could win in minutes just by boarding the ship. In multiplayer the boarding was nearly useless since you could guarantee chipping away at the ship from outside but inside you would be focused down immediately.

Interested to see which way the new Battlefront goes.

For sure, flying around in an X-wing made you feel about as powerful as you probably should be in bf1.  Shooting up lines of infantry with just your lasers was the most satisfactory and star wars-esque thing. Having to score direct hits with your pea shooters in bf2 was awfully underwhelming by comparison. I was just talking about bf2 since that was the only one with actual space battles that focused on ship v. ship combat. Flying around the bespin platforms map in an xwing and shooting down the tie fighters and bombers was great, albeit the constraints of the map were too limiting to really be able to it enjoy it the fullest*. Not to mention the AI in those anti-air turrets were fucking aimbotting whores who could melt your ship in milliseconds.

*Although being able to pilot a ship down one of the covered tunnels and lighting up the entire strip was pretty great, despite being as cramped as possible. I loved how you could "accidentally" shoot your teammates and they'd go flying like ragdolls but get up as if nothing happened since they take no damage (assuming you didn't knock them off the map entirely).

*PTSD flashbacks to Bespin turrets*

Give me those ship mechanics in a space map with capital ships and boarding, and I'd never work again.

*I also miss having to find... inventive ways of dealing with the invincible heroes from that game. Blasting them off the edges, running them over, landing on them...

"Oh shit, the other side got Darth Vader now. Alright, to Bespin we go." A true shame that the heroes respawn though... Hitting luke or darthy with a bunch of well-placed grenades/rockets/ship lasers to finally knock them off the edge just to get a brief respite before they came back swinging, worth it every time, yet also never worth it if you actually cared about winning. I remember one time someone was capturing the middle command point on my side, the one inside the building with the turrets, so I turned around to take out the lone cpu, shouldn't have been too hard. Only when I arrived I saw no one, walked to the center and saw vader crouching behind the control panels, and I had naught but a rifle to defend myself. Was like a scene out of a horror movie as he stood up, ignited his saber, and started swinging wildly as I combat rolled my ass all the way back to the frontlines, as it was far safer there than back at our main base.

All this talk about star wars video games, who's got Battlefront 2???? I do and I'm liking it way better than the first "next-gen" attempt.

It's all the Star Wars's so far and it's amazing. You can go from one level playing Roger Roger, to the next being part of the Resistance chasing ice foxes on a salt planet (WTF Riann).

It's not as good indeed but it's still pretty good. I've been having a lot of fun on it playing galactic multiplayer and I enjoy some of the new features such as being about to fly a ship when you get enough points. I also enjoy the customizable weapon mods.

Overall, I'd give it a 10/10 when compare to the last one and about a 7/10 if you compare it to the originals. It's pretty good, so play it Jona and then give me your honest opinion.

the unlikely Empire vs Clones and Empire vs Droids missions from the old ones

See, this right here is all the reason you need to play bf2 campaign.   In all seriousness though, the campaigns of the originals were definitely lackluster, but being able to play couch co-op while having full teams of bots was the shit back in the day. Undoubtedly the new ones have much more polished and refined campaigns, I just don't actually have a system to play them on, as I'm afraid my pc is at the end of its life cycle and I don't have a current gen console... yet.

I'm in the position now where I should watch it again in total silence so I can appreciate it more and see if there is anything that I like that I may have not noticed the first time. Either way, it was a Star Wars movie and I love Star Wars so maybe I'm just being hypercritical since Disney now owns it. I don't want Disney to Disneyfy it, next thing you know we'll have characters singing and shit while they duel!

Yeah that came across wrong. What I mean was, I hope that Disney doesn't try to make it too kid friendly. I know their first three Disney Star Wars films have been pretty amazing and I think they are heading in the right direction, I just don't want them to lose sight of where they are going and start churning out shit just to capitalize on it. I'm really on the fence about Young Han Solo, a movie no one asked for or needed. I mean for fuck's sake, Harrison Ford was young in a New Hope. Now we've got an even younger Han Solo. Why? We don't need or want this? Should've made a stand alone Darth Maul movie instead. It would've been way better.

Imo they've already Disneyfied it, although it isn't necessarily as bad as it could be... yet. While SW always had cheesy dialogue we hadn't exactly had your mom jokes before, and sure SW always had fun action sequences it seems like with each new movie they're trying to constantly set the bar higher, sometimes at the cost of plot. Overall the new SW feel a lot like the Marvel movies, they pump em out once per year, and while they're fun to watch, you don't necessarily feel the need to ever see them more than the 1-2 times you've gone to see them in theaters.

I think the best way to identify someone who's just hating on Star Wars cos Disney or cos too popular/successful/mainstream is to ask them what they thought of Rogue One cos noone in their right mind wouldn't have enjoyed that.

Hmmm... well, you see...

Not that I HATED Rogue One or anything, I just felt like it was severely overhyped. I can understand that a lot of the more casual SW fans would like it since its a cool war movie and all, I just felt like it dragged on for far too long, with characters that ultimately are rather uninteresting. The movie has quite a pacing problem where the first 2/3 or 3/4 are a super slow grind, and then finally at the end you get your big payoff. Don't get me wrong, the final act in that movie was probably the best from any modern SW movie, but the rest leading up to it was downright awful. Maybe that's the type of movie that you DON'T go back and see a second time, but I did and boy was it difficult to not fall asleep during the first 2/3 or so.

Also fuck the new Han Solo movie. I've never been more biased against a movie prior to its release, it's going to have to absolutely blow me away for me to ever say that it was anything more than a huge let down. Not only is it unnecessary in every sense of the word, but I feel like exploring Han Solo's back story is just going to detract from his character. He's the mysterious space rogue, leave some of that mystery intact, please. They could have made a dumb spin-off about anyone else's past and it would be less detrimental to the main story, imo.

Baby Luke, slurping that blue milk and working the moisture farm.

Seriously though, they are going to fuck up Han Solo so badly, he was young enough in A New Hope and now he's played by some British guy that doesn't even look like him or have the same skin ton and/or hair color. The fuck is that. Let's just pick some random pasty black haired British guy to play Han Solo, who has no accent what so ever, is tan in everything, and has light brown hair. It's like they didn't even try with casting, they just put people in who are cool with millennials or children and hope to salvage it. It's a dumb idea and unless it's totally groundbreaking I'd rather suffer through Episode 1 again.

Why not explore minor characters or new ones instead?

THIS IS THE FUCKING SYNOPSIS WHEN YOU GOOGLE IT:

Through a series of daring escapades, young Han Solo meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian.

*cuts wrists

EDIT: The dickhead they hired to play him is in fact American. Crossed out the parts where I said he wasn't. He's still a cunt though.

Lol, I'd legitimately prefer that over what we're getting. We know luke did nothing during his entire youth except shoot some womprats and dream of attending the imperial academy. But now we're gonna get a movie about winning the falcon from a young lando, doing the kessel run, meeting/saving chewie, and more that we don't even want to see. Like why the fuck is danaerys even in this movie? To give him a love interest? C'mon, we don't want that garbage!

Ideally, I want to enjoy the movies they make. But I kinda want the Han Solo movie to do badly, because imo that's a boring direction to go. I don't even want any spin-off movies cos I just think that's the lamest shit. They could cover so many interesting places and eras:
- The first ever Jedi. Would be a perfect tangent from the new movies where Luke was hiding on the island where the Jedi Order began. You'd get to see the first Lightsabers, the first people tempted by the Dark Side, the creation of a code.
- The farthest-reaches of The Empire, fighting external threats on the frontier of known space. A film from The Empire's point of view where they're not killing civilians but real genuine threats to the planets under their control
- Anything pre-episode 1.
- Who is Snoke and how did the First Order happen?

All solid ideas. What we'll probably get from Disney:
-why does R2 beep boop and not speak English
-Young Jabba the Hutt
-Rogue 2 that takes place between Empire and ROTJ
-Young Chewbacca
-Yoda: Hand up his ass, Now he's CGI the story of what happened
Title: Re: [NA] Bronto

- Who is Snoke and how did the First Order happen?

I swear,  if they leave his entire past out of the new trilogy just so they can cash in on it from some spin-off... dear god, fuck Disney's "MAKE ALL DAH MONEY" business model. It's like paying for DLC to continue the main campaign in a videogame. "To find out how the First Order came to be, and to learn more about Snoke's past, make sure to watch our Snoke: A Star Wars Story spin-off, in theaters next December!"

Anyways there are plenty of great areas they could explore, and I'm hoping that Rian Johnson's new trilogy can be something 100% fresh and worthwhile. Rogue One was definitely a step in the right direction, but unfortunately they took at least 5 steps backwards when they announced the Han Solo movie. Can only hope that the new trilogy is going to focus on an entirely different cast without even a single easter egg or cameo of anyone we know of already. If not make it take place in a totally different time (old republic would be dope, but unfortunately none of that is cannon anymore... could still be cool to see Disney's take on that era, though), then at least a place (or places) far away from what we already know, as Heskey suggested, something on the outer rim could work well (so long as it isn't just Tatooine, since that's technically out there). Imo it'd be nice to see an area so cut-off from the rest of the galaxy that they're barely affected by any of the conflict we've been exposed to before... and as a result you don't even know what era it takes place during. Maybe in one of the final scenes the characters get news that the Empire has been disbanded and you realize that the movie(s) have taken place during the original trilogy or something. Or better yet, just leave it timeless.

Not too far off from what we'll be getting, if the Solo movie is any indication. Sigh...

I'd love a movie about the beginnings of the jedi order with the discovery of the dark side tbh.

I'd also like a movie where the empire doesn't look like the evil puppet to take pot shots at. Yeah sure they're dicks but maybe a thing where they want to give up the dark side corruption without going full rebel. There has to be people that actually think the empire is good/necessary evil or w/e without going full fuck this, I'ma be a rebel.

Or add in other orders like the grey order who I like the idea of but tbh they're dicks too. To try and keep things neutral forever is to forever keep the war going. Although I don't know enough about them to know if they'd even add much without going wild non canonically.

While having the most potential to be an absolutely awesome movie, covering this topic also allows it to have the most potential to be a complete and utter letdown. What if the origins of the jedi-sith are as mundane as a farmer boy realizing he can will the broom to sweep the floor on its own? And then when he teaches his buddy that guy goes and starts using the force to steal money. Boom, jedi and sith alike are born. It'd have to be the perfect balance of mythical and practical to be a successful origins story, imo.

I'd also like a movie where the empire doesn't look like the evil puppet to take pot shots at. Agreed. Let the Imperials have their share of the limelight as well. Maybe you don't even need to depict them as wanting to overthrow the emperor/darth vader to sell them as "not all bad," and instead just show them NOT torturing and imprisoning people for no reason. Show them as being rather normal law enforcement/soldiers/workers...  hell, there have to be even some normal people in the Empire apart from those wearing stormtrooper armor or the officer uniforms. There's some non-military aspects of the Empire, after all... show us some mundane businessmen!

(click to show/hide)

Huh, didn't know he was a KOTOR fan, that's good news, I think. Hopefully he doesn't revere it so much that he wouldn't even want to touch the era for fear of messing it up. They definitely need to take a more non-committal approach with that era, for sure. Just because there is a movie in "the old republic era" doesn't mean it overwrites the history established in the KOTOR universe... surely the old republic lasted longer than a few decades, so there'll be plenty of time available for them to cover completely unrelated stories.

Star Wars: The Empire-SVU

I'm with Taser on this, I'd love to see an origins of the Jedi trilogy. If done well, it could be really amazing and give us fresh insight into the Jedi order itself. There are/were so many Jedi/Sith stories out there prior to Disney's acquisition and that could be a lot of great source material even if they don't use it at all. They can still see what fans were thinking and build from there.

Just learned something pretty crazy... the Han Solo spinoff movie comes out in less than 4 months (May 25th, apparently). I thought it wasn't gonna be until December, as that is when every other star wars movie has been released. So what the hell? Where are the trailers? Where's the attempt at hype? Has Disney actually just done us all a favor and scrapped it, quietly sweeping it under the rug?

I read that they had to do reshoots with Ron Howard at the helm vs the guy they originally hired. Also that the first and possibly only trailer won't come out until May 4th. How accurate that is, it's hard to tell. I think if they aren't hyping it yet then they know they fucked up and it's probably a shit movie that no one asked for or wanted.

Edit: After much consideration, they'll probably have a preview during the Super Bowl this Sunday, if they're smart.

I liked Red Oaks and Transparent but I'm old so they probably aren't hip.

As for Lord of the Rings, it should be pretty awesome because they won't be trying to stretch one book into three movies :D

Oasis has potential, the pilot was amazing, but there hasn't been any word on if they're going to make a full series out of it yet.

Im also a fan of The Grand Tour, but that's not really the same thing.

I couldn't get into it but it's got great reviews. I'm not a huge fan of the story so it didn't hold my attention past the first two episodes. My best friend IRL loved it so there's that. Just wasn't for me I guess.

And they just announced that the writers of GoT are supposedly gonna make their own spin-off star wars series, which isn't related to the one rian johnson is already making... soon we're gonna be drowning in star wars movies, easily 2-3 a year. Significantly down, the quality will go.

Its not like anyone plays NA crpg anymore only this strat crap so whats it really matter.

It is the principle of the matter. How can all of the other innocent players of the mod feel self-actualized due to strategus achievements if players can wantonly mock the rules? If players can openly MULTI-ACCOUNT? The very idea is a mockery of social harmony and a travesty of the justice that all of the blameless players of this mod deserve.

Both myself and Bronto should have been perma-banned years ago for account-sharing (a slightly lesser evil than blatant multi-accounting, but still abhorrent), but the whims of democracy saved us from justice. Not from punishment, but from JUSTICE. The ONLY reason that these putrid, maleficent, under-handed yellow-bellied CHEATERS should be given ANY chance at redemption is to commit themselves to service for this mod and its players- and this measure only because the times are troubled and the population of the mod is diminished.

Under normal circumstances, the only recourse for any CHANCE at an unban, even for the mere OPPORTUNITY to write an essay to be given CONSIDERATION for an unban would be obtained through donation of no less than $150 USD to the server fund.

These two criminals make me literally sick. Physically ill. I unironically think much, much less of them as people (if they can still be called that) because of their behavior. It is only through my strong sense of service to the mod that has given me so much, and to make up for my previous transgressions that I allow these scoundrels to remain in my clan- perhaps I can impart at least of a bit of the well-deserved sense of overwhelming and debilitating shame that I have to them.

I have to agree with Sandy on this. Many valid points. I mean this guy really gets the mod. I think moving forward the only way to address issues with blatant RULE-BREAKERS and, the worst, CHEATERS, is just PERMABANNING servers until we can find where the fault actually lies. I'll just pull IP's and if you're NA when someone breaks the rules, good luck, you should've stopped them, now we're all PERMABANNED! Then that $150 donation from all 10 people to be unbanned will pay for the server for a few months. Surely this will weed out these BAD HOMBRES and leave only the most elite, rule following, justice loving players that the mod deserves.

well the better analogy would be "it doesn't matter how many kids you saved from starvation, a couple saw your penis in the shower while you were cleaning up after a hard day of putting food in your mouths so you get cucked anyway".   I am still that person, and I did tell you guys if you fuck up again I'll be watching and won't be so lenient. As Butan has pointed out, and others in your ban threads, the NA community is really small at this point, so it would not have been right to permaban you guys, which is the conclusion we reached and thus why you only got 4 months initially. People still complained and, had it not been for other admins, people's suggestions, and YOUR response to me, I'm not sure if I would've lessened it. Any good dad knows that sometimes you've got to let your kids know when they step out of line, and that's what I did.

Splitting wood is very satisfying. We tend to just split it and stack it and tarp it right there at our camp as well though. Considering building a little covered area for stacking wood this season though.

My advice if you do make a covered area is to at least use 4 x 4's as your base. This way your wood is up slightly off the ground and won't soak in ground moisture.

Family backyard used to be choke full of wood stuff : from rotten old stumps/branches to fairly healthy intertwined trees, all packed bulldozer-like at the back end. It was the result of like 30 years of lazyness, and it looked more and more like a Herculean task.

I always liked simple woodworking but from a distance. One day I said "fuck it, gonna clear this fucker myself, and put the abandoned fireplace to good use".

It took like 2 and a half years of going back at it 2/3 times a month but by the end of it god I loved splitting/stacking/drying/burning wood. I wish my place had a fireplace now that there is nothing else to clear/burn. I have now gained the trait pyromaniac.

Yep, same. We used to have 35 years worth of tree trimmings all piled up in the back, but it wasn't anything that a large bonfire 3 days in a row couldn't fix.

Double post, who gives a shit it's a thread about me. Anyhow, today I kicked a guy (Hades Bloodsword) on EU7 (get with the times, I'm #1 NA admin and I'm EU admin now too) for leeching on DTV. I feel bad about it but I got tons of complaints from other people on the server that he was leeching the last round for 400k xp. Typically he's a cool fucking dude, which is why I feel bad about it. Anyway, it was a tough call, the guy did intentionally go to a spot on the map that was glitched and hid there. He also had minimal kills and was not contributing what so ever. I feel I made the right call so why do I feel this way? Please discuss. Rando or Sandersson Jenkins, if you're here lay it on me, I know you read this shit and you're old like me,  not you Sandy you're  young and probably shave your pubes, glue em to your face and call it a beard. I'M crossfaded as duck right now which is why I'm being emo but still...

i mean if it was up to me i wouldn't kick someone for leeching because it ain't hurting nobody (altho idk how DTV works), but someone in a glitched spot has to go.

I dont get the whole "leeching" on a non pvp based mode? Was the server full and is that why because there was a line waiting to get into dtv? Or is there xp penalties on co-op mode that maybe shouldn't be there if everyone doesn't so called participate or die early? Isn't hiding in the shed behind a mauler and shielder for 3 minutes also leeching?

I never particularly cared much for leechers in DTV... it spawns more bots which in turns gives the rest of us more xp. However, people have every right to complain seeing how A) their presence spawns more bots, making it more difficult for everyone else while they of course contribute nothing, and far more importantly, B) if they're in a glitched spot and end up being the last alive, the round may never end unless a bot can snipe them. Basically, if people are complaining and have a problem with it, kick/ban he. If he's leeching but no one causes a racket, let him be.

Its difficult to fully explain, but there wasnt an xp barn, just a fence with about 5-6 people in it. While he was in a building on top of a shelf stuck between a large basket and a wall. Really no reason he should have been there. The right call was made IMO.

sry wasn't trying to say you made a wrong call, just trying to understand dtv. People seem to like to qq if you dont try to play it the way they want you too, for instance if you are cav and herding them mod into a school of fish to be picked off 1 by one when they would rather the mob to run to a choke point. Which is not my idea of fun either.

if they are afk the truly best course of action is to leave them be until close to the end of the last round.

The reasoning behind this is they have already done the damage by spawning in more bots. The only way they can make up for this is by contributing and if you kick them you are removing any chance they have to contribute.

Why I would wait till right before xp and gold are earned is so that you don't accidentally make a mistake and get the team killed on the off chance that this guy comes back and actually does contribute. If victory is clear and he is still afk and contributing nothing then kick him but not until. I have seen many times now where EU/NA admins kick people on dtv on high-end waves only for these people to rejoin the server and watch their team they helped get to the higher levels wipe because they afk'd for a round and now can definitely not help or even attempt to save the team that they spawned more bots for because some admin decided they should kick them right then and there rather than at the end of the round. Their presence hurts no one until the next wave anyhow.

dtv is much different than other game modes where I'd agree kicking immediately would solve more issues than not.

I agree Desire and this happened during the last round. Guy went straight to a glitched spot, got stuck, and didn't contribute from wave 1 on. Just stayed in some barrels or whatever stuck.

Had everyone died there is no way he could've helped win. Everyone would've been left to watch the virgin die. Just a tough call because he's a dtv veteran and should've known better.

I think desire might mean kick him just before the last wave, not round. Otherwise you're letting him get a bunch of free xp, all while making it harder for everyone else, round after round. If on wave 1 of the last round (or any other round) he runs and afks, then as desire suggested, wait until things are wrapping up round 3 to kick him, that way he has some hope of returning and contributing to the team.

Also, as far as I know prof changed dtv so that the virgin can die, and if she does you don't lose, but you lose a significant amount of xp from the end-of-round rewards. In other words, if someone is afk in a spot where the bots can't reach them, the round will never end.

The 2 or so rounds before Tincans he was sitting between the Virgin and where the bots spawn, most likely alt-tabbing then tabbing back in if/when bots got close. It was only on the first round of tincans he actually went further than 10 feet away from the virgin which is when he ultimately got stuck. It would be easier to explain if I knew the name of the map, just know it was a stereotypical destermat with a huge barn and fence attached to it.

And DTV has seen some minor changes since the virgin can die and the round doesn’t end, the main one being that if she dies on tincans, the map ends and we lose. But this man being where he was, it’s still unlikely that the majority of bots would have ran right by him to get the virgin.

Leveling just opens up a few outfits and hats. You get xp for kills, pumping, repairing etc. You go to 50 then get a different level icon by name then go to 50 again and icon gets a bit more elite, then to 50 again another icon change etc rinse and repeat. I wish they would make a more persistant open world type mode but they said they just want to do the arena based thing. Probably due to a funding thing too. But like James said its fun for a drop in and out type of game.

Anyhow, Dwarf faction was amazing and I'm glad you've teamed up with Tasa and I. If strat gets reset we will hit it hard brother.

I love you all.
