Is there any impulse your future career might give to your decision? If not, I would choose upon the culture that interests you most/ the country you would most likely like to visit a few times in future.
I would probably go with russian cause it sounds so fucking awesome
also: If learning a language, I would join a clan of that language. So who knows, in short time you might be OdE_Panos? : )
Spanish or French; first is the most spoken language (as first language, after Chinese) second is the considered the international language
So, I`m thinking to start learning a second foreign language apart of English
I`m caught between French, Chinese, German and Russian
I was thinking to go for French now, since they`re somewhat identical to English
Any thoughts from you guys??
No, that's English...
Approximately 406 million people speak Spanish as a native language, making it second only to Mandarin in terms of its number of native speakers worldwide.
In your case, though, German might be best, to beg more efficiently for Euros ("Gib mir Geld, du Schweinehund, ich verrecke sonst hier!"). Although French could also help, since EU is mostly a German-French alliance with some bandwagoners.
Why japanese and not chinese?..
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_language
I know source is caca but it's English Wikipedia
I was talking about French.
It is an official language of all United Nations agencies and a large number of international organizations.
or you could try dutch, it is a bit closer to english than german.
Chinese, you can pick a job and paycheck with that here, think it's the same in GreeceIt used to be the same here but like 5 years ago. By now most companies here (I have professional contacts to a few which deal with Chinese companies apart from my own experiences) actually expect the Chinese to being able to communicate in English. Mostly it ends with really perfect business English letters/emails but with hardly encryptable spoken English. Nonetheless, it's getting there. So at least the scientific and electronics world sticks to English it seems. Could imagine the same goes for IT.
Dutch! Do German first, then Dutch and you'll laugh a lot!!
You should learn French, so you can insult them in their own language.Hands down, best suggestion yet.
why not turkish?
Just on a serious note; pick a language that is closely related to yours.
Dunno what close to Greek is.
Nothing. Hellenic is a unique language family with no close relatives.Having no relatives sounds so sad...
Depends. I would consider tourists from countries frequently coming to Greece and size of their breasts. Of the top of my head, I'd go with Swedish.
Learn English, Spanish, Hindi, Mandarin and Arabic.Or just learn Finnish and join the interned gods to create the best dolan memes and spudro spädres in the world :D
Conquer the world (almost).
But I love Winnland!
I want to listen to metal everyday everywhere :(
What about Swedish or Norwegian??

Better to learn German tbh, only 5.09 mill Norwegians and learning Swedish is just gayAnd with a German background it isn't that hard anymore to pick up Norse or Swedish.
Finnish: Kuu loistaa kirkkaana tänäänDamn, Finns like double vowels a lot! :o

Better to learn Chinese (when China conquers world with derrr mighty rice money) or Arabic (if Arabs conquer Europe with Islam)
If they take over Europe, it's simply because we let them.
And the problem is, that most let them do their shit... like saying Islam was part of Europe, or letting Turkey enter the EU (if that ever happens).
The only good thing was what Switzerland did, and even their half of the population didnt like the decision at all.
Anyway, I would learn some European language after all. Probably not that high chance to leave this continent at all if it's about work only.
oh no you just didn't take that bait .(click to show/hide)
You took it.

German: Der Mond strahlt heute hell.Where's kurdish?!
Dutch: De maan schijnt helder vandaag
English: The moon shines bright today
French: La lune brille aujourd'hui
Swedish: Månen lyser starkt i dag
Norwegian: Månen skinner i dag
Danish: Månen skinner lyse dag
Finnish: Kuu loistaa kirkkaana tänään
Translated by google. Guess it's easy to see why you shouldn't learn finnish right?
Where's kurdish?!
Stereotypes have true essence though, it's no concerning everyone of a cultural group but often the majority. Take for example Romas, there are exceptions and some well educated individuals but at least 90% of them are fraudulent uneducated people who use every niche in a country to live on the cost of others, scamming old people or exploiting the welfare state, and by doing this feeling no remorse because of their disrespect of other cultures. I feel sorry for the children because they grew up in this rotten culture. But anyway you can't underestimate stereotypes.

Actually the french version is kinda fucked up tooIn what way?^^
In what way?^^
Not a lot of striking similarities with germanic languages:Maybe because French isn't a germanic language??
lune = mond, maan, moon, manen
aujourd'hui = today, vandag, dag, idag
brille = shines, skinner, schijnt
about "aujourd'hui" it's not even split like "aujourd" = "to" and "hui" = "day"
Maybe because French isn't a germanic language??
Make the same list and now with French, Spanish, Portugese, Latin, Italian and Romanian.
I guess Kafein meant in that short "list" I made, by comparing German to Dutch, to English, to French, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish.
And in that list Finnish and French don't really fit. He probably means that.
